Captured by Viking raiders, Eadha MacEwan, daughter of a chieftain, dreads falling into the hands of the berserker, Tolljur Magnussen. An empath, she easily senses the emotions of others, but she can feel nothing from Tolljur until he succumbs to one of his berserker rages. Then she shares the fire, darkness, and agony of his affliction. Rarely does Tolljur give in to impulse, and he certainly … didn’t plan to claim the Scotswoman. Yet he soon discovers Eadha’s music is the one thing that can soothe his pain, and in an attempt to shield her from his enemies, he takes her for his bride. Can love grow amid fear and doubt? And how can Eadha’s magic save Tolljur from a legacy that may destroy him?

Talk about a book that has come at the right time for the world. Across the globe, people have been mourning the loss of their beloved GOT. Well, congratulations, the new love for people of that time period is here! The author has woven such a complex web of characters, emotion, and conflict that everyone who loves Game of Thrones will want to own this book.
The author has a gift in character creation too. Few authors can engender such deep feelings for characters almost immediately. There are several characters you can quickly care for and there are some that you quickly hate. There are no 2-dimensional characters – even bit characters have depth.
Once I had started reading the book, I found it hard to not want to see what would come next. An edge of the seater as well as a superb historic romance.
My Rating: 5 stars
This isn’t the normal genre I would read but I did enjoy it.
I thought it was fast-paced and easy to read.
The characters were well thought out and I enjoyed reading about their journey and how they grew as the book went on.
I couldnt put it down once I started
A wonderful tale that is full of lies, betrayals, raiding, and love. Tolljur Magnussen is a warrior who turns while in the throes of battle. Eadha MacEwan, daughter of a chieftain, is a slave plundered from her homeland. Tolljur takes Eedah as his slave, but she becomes much more. Together, they fight enemies that wish them dead. I loved the story.
this was actually a really great book! she is a slave and he wants to be her new owner. she can read peoples emotions but she cant read his. he can go off the deep end at times. read to find out what happens.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It took me back a few centuries (900s) from a time period I am used to (middles ages circa 1200s) and swept me away with the writing and romance. Ms. Strickland’s storytelling and writing are polished and suburb. Crisp voice, easy flow of words, and sympathetic characters. I loved the concept of a mystical empath meeting an empathetic Viking, a Berserker, no less (and misunderstood alpha male)! Cultures clash, but are united by spirituality and love. It sends messages that transcend time: compassion, acceptance, embracing your gifts/abilities, overcoming painful pasts, and uniting with love. Eadha soothes Tolljur’s soul, and he brings her mystical powers to full acceptance and understanding. Were they predestined to find each other? Find out! Lovely read. I highly recommend.
The Berserker’s Bride is a great tale of being thrust into a completely different culture, overcoming hardships, and falling in love. Beautiful imagery, well-written, and incredible world-building.
This well woven and engaging tale is full of emotions and chemistry. The characters, scenes, and story were so realistic I felt I was right there experiencing it myself. A very intense and captivating tale that had me not able to put the book down until I finished – a definite page turner. Not your usual Viking tale – not sure who I loved more, Eadha or Tolljur, both were so well described and awesome. And together they were an unmovable force!
The Berserker’s Bride is a noteworthy Viking fairy tale conveyed through the beautiful prose of Laura Strickland. The reader is transported to a time of Viking raids-destroying cities, claiming the woman for slaves. It’s a story of lies and betrayals, of potions and poisons. It is also the unusual love story of Eadha and Tolljur. These wonderfully portrayed characters help bring light and hope to an otherwise bleak world. I highly recommend this magical, fulfilling tale.
This one totally surprised me. I thought we’ll have Vikings plundering and the regular Viking stuff. Nope…this is the story of the crazy who leads the Vikings and gives a whole others take on things. Add to the Beserker the weird slave from Scotland he saves from the Jarl’s nasty son. Eadha was weird when she lived
with her clan and makes the worst slave ever. These two are made for each other. Of course there is the nasty Jarl’s son who wants Eadha, and the town whOrE who wants Tolljur and the shaman who is questionable. This was a really great read.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading this author’s other books.
