Bestselling author Lisa Suzanne’s newest standalone rock star romance has a forbidden twist you won’t see coming. After a bad decision lands me a role on a reality show, I expect it to be my big break as a TV star. Despite getting kicked off the first night, I land on my feet again when a talent agent who saw the show offers me an audition as back-up dancer for a popular rock band.Knowing this … band.
Knowing this could be my stepping stone is exciting, but the real thrill is watching Brody bang on his drums every night. It’s a bad idea for a dancer to hook up with a band member, but after he kisses me, I can’t stay away.
Facing the consequences was inevitable, and it only takes one scandalous mistake from my past to cause our complete destruction.
Bad decision or not, I always manage to come out on top… until I don’t.

I received and ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. I have to say that it started off a little slow for me, but about 1/3 of the way through it started to grab my attention and I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next! Zoey’s determination to make her own way in life without the help of her brother is admirable and Brody turns out to be so sweet and loving. This book is emotional and will pull at you heartstrings. I recommend giving this book a chance.
Lisa Suzanne is one of my one click authors and I have to say after reading The Benefits of Bad Decisions, it’s one of my favorites by her. Zoey is a big rock star’s sister but she is determined to get things on her own and not use his name to gain fame. She’s a little wild at times and does some questionable things. I’m not proud to say I did slut shame her in my head a little in the beginning of the story. After a not so good stint on a reality show she get a gig as a back up dancer for the band MFB. Brody has an instant connection with her but doesn’t want to. Zoey and Brody have fun banter together. I really liked their jokes. I found myself laughing out loud at the jokes and sharing them with anyone around. At one point I shared a joke with my teen and got the response mom what the heck are you reading. Even though Zoey and Brody were not looking for each other, they mesh well together. Just when I thought everything was going good, there a major game changing twist. This is one you should definitely read. Make sure you have time cleared out before starting this one because it had me hooked and reading best my bedtime.
This is my first time actually reading this author’s work, though I have picked up several of her books previously. Unfortunately for me, this was not a good introduction to her work!
First of all, it’s actually interconnected to at least two other of the author’s works, if not more, and this interconnection is not readily discernible from the blurb or titling of the book. For me, that’s an automatic strike, because my OCD neurosis is bad enough that I have to read all stories in the universe previous to the current read, or else my enjoyment of the current read is spoiled. Thankfully, the interconnection in this book is done in such a way that the reader knows that more has happened in the universe, but it doesn’t impact this story overmuch, though my OCD was still making me itch about reading the other books first.
Setting that issue aside, right from the get go, the book set me on edge in a bad way with the events that took place in chapter 1. I immediately formed a bad opinion of Zoey, and that didn’t change easily. She does begin to grow in the story, though, and my opinion of her was gradually rising. Then, about 75% into the book, we get to know the WHY of the events of Chapter 1, and that’s when everything goes to crap. I felt that 25% was not enough to fully delve into everything that was happening, and subsequently I had the sense of being rushed through the ugly parts. I thought Brody put Zoey on a yo-yo after the accidental reveal, and it wasn’t a good one. I really wanted to have Zoey just punch Brody in the nuts and walk away from him for good, he was being that much of a jerk about the whole situation! I did like how the Ugly Situation from Chapter 1 was handled, though, because it was handled in such a way to help empower other women that might find themselves in a similar situation.
The book did a wonderful job of building the relationship between Brody and Zoey, and I actually felt really connected and invested in their relationship! The “Aww!” moment at the end of the book really pulled it out for me, to the point where I felt more comfortable giving this a 3 star rating. I’m definitely willing to give the author’s work a second chance after that!
This is the first book I’ve read by Lisa Suzanne, but it sure won’t be the last. Rockstar romances are one of my favorites, so I couldn’t wait to get started with it. Right from the beginning, the author drags you in with some surprising behavior from the heroine (as the title of the book indicates). A bit shocking, but it continues to be a page turner from there. From the moment they met, Zoey and Brody have amazing chemistry and it doesn’t take much for both of them to want to pursue their relationship. And of course since their relationship takes place during a rock tour, it’s even more delicious! Of course, circumstances are bound to get in the way, as with any romance novel, but in this particular case, there is a twist that is very, very surprising. The road is quite bumpy and it’s difficult to see how the two of them can get past it. In this book, I found myself getting angry at Zoey and Brody for some poor behavior and bad choices, but then this is what made the characters that much more human. A great read that I couldn’t put down. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
This book is a standalone romance, no cliffhanger but it is another entertaining angsty read set in the world of Vail and MFB, complete with appearances by rock star heartthrob (and the heroine’s ex), Mark Ashton. I just love the books from this series!!!!
This time it’s the story of thirty-three year old Zoey, Ethan Fuller’s sister. She is independent, headstrong, ambitious and willing to do “whatever it takes” to make it on her own and get her big break in acting, which leads to an EPIC bad decision. It’s OK though because it leads her to a dancing/reality show gig with the up and coming band, MFB, which leads to….
the next bad decision: getting involved with and falling for MFB bad boy drummer Brody Jensen. He’s a player who enjoys Zoey’s dirty jokes and falls hard and fast for her despite all his unresolved family issues, which leads to…
the twist that I DID NOT SEE COMING! Was Zoey playing Brody all along? Can Brody forgive her when he can’t even stand to have her on the tour? Will their love survive? What are the benefits of bad decisions, after all?
I love these characters and so will you!
I loved this book! It started off with a bang and just kept going! Zoey is lost and unsure of her future. Brody is at the beginning of a dream career. Their chemistry is enough to keep you reading past your bedtime! The twist I never saw coming shows how one bad decision can affect your life when you least expect it. This was my first book by Lisa Suzanne but won’t be my last and I can’t wait to explore more!!
So when I started this book I was also reading Take My Heart: A Rock Star Romance which tells how the band got to the stage it’s at. The first several chapters of this book were about Zoey and I hated it but it does add something to the story line down the road. I hated that she talked about her brother the Rock Star drummer for the band Vail all the time and how he always takes care of her. She comes off sounding like a whiney sex addicted do nothing, living off her brother and all she wants to do is become a star on TV.
So with that being said, you finally get to chapter 6 and Brody who is the drummer for the MFB group. You finally get into the book and it gets so much better. I enjoyed seeing how this plays out and yes there was some “sorrow” and you wonder if it’s gonna work out or not. I really enjoyed the rest of the book and didn’t want to put it down till I was finished.
So give it a chance, I did and am glad I stuck it out.
Zoey and Brody are amazing! A dancer and a drummer what could be better than that?!? So much happens in this book and I love that our Vail guys keep popping up.
I love this story, even when I was angry I loved this book. I couldn’t wait for it to be finished but then when it was the end I wanted to start it all over again.
The way all of her stories intertwine shows just how amazing Lisa is. I fell in love with Lisa Suzanne in A Little Like Destiny and it continues as it Vail men keep coming back!
I absolutely loved this book. I laughed, I cried and felt sad at some parts. I was hooked and I didn’t want Zoey and Brody’s story to end. I read this book in two days. If I didn’t need to sleep, or work, I would have finished it in one. Look forward to reading more from Lisa Suzanne.
It seems I’ve missed out on a few books by Lisa suzanne. The Benefits Of Bad Decisions is a mix of two worlds. I’ve read the ‘A Little Like Destiny’ and ‘The Unbreakable Thread’ series showcasing the band Vail and all their exploits and loves. But, haven’t read any about MFB, until now.
This has Ethan Fuller’s sister, Zoey as the leading lady who stars alongside the drummer from MFB, Brody.
Zoey starts off the book with more than a questionable decision, if this is a study of how her life was, then it’s no wonder she’s in dire straits now. I caught myself shaking my head at her.
But once she meets Brody, her errant ways seem to settle down. She’s drawn to the drummer, quite unwillingly as she knows full well what they are like, thanks to her own drummer brother.
Brody was quite a player but from the second he met Zoey, he only had eyes for her, something he wasn’t used to and didn’t quite know how to handle.
Needless to say, there were a few ‘WTH’!! moments in this rollercoaster read. I felt aaalllll the feels. And loved every single one of them. I couldn’t put my kindle down until I’d goggled up every single word. You will too, so grab your copy today.
What an outstanding book! There are benefits to bad decisions? In this book, we find that there can be. Lisa Suzanne has really shown us her great writing ability with this one. I was just reading along, enjoying Zoey and Brody’s story, when there is a big, unexpected twist that I totally was not expecting. Wow! Then there are several chapters that I have to say that I cried through to the point that I needed a box of tissues. This only happens, if you are totally immersed in the storyline, as well as the characters, which I was. I loved this book, therefore, I highly recommend it.
The Benefits of Bad Decisions is one of those rare books that grabs you from the first page & keeps you reading way past bedtime to see what happens next!! I thought the author created a fantastic story line & her characters were interesting & unique!!
I look forward to reading more by Lisa Suzanne
Oh man what a wild ride. MFB might be my favorite band as well. It was great to see the guys again, and even some returning characters from Vail! And man oh man is there a twist in the middle! I did not see it coming until right before it happened. So crazy! In the end I am happy that Zoey and Brody got their HEA.
I do have one caution. If you dont like seeing a main character have relations with someone other than their intended, don’t read this. The sexy times did happen before the couple got together, but still. It can be off putting if it isnt your cup of tea. But you can still give it a try and always skip over it. There is no cheating in the book if that worries you.
Excellent read. Great chemistry, sense of humor, plot twist. Excellent read.
The Benefits of Bad Decisions by Lisa Suzanne is a contemporary, rockstar romance told in dual POV. It follows the relationship that develops between back-up dancer, Zoey, and drummer, Brody, while they are on tour together.
I really loved this story! I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just begin by saying that it was highly addictive and so much fun to read. It had humor, sexual tension, and an insanely HUGE twist that I didn’t see coming! What followed was an angsty emotional roller coaster ride – and WOW – what a ride! Hilarious, sexy, heartbreaking, and dramatic – I enjoyed every minute.
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
This has to be one my favorite books by Lisa Suzanne. I am a huge fan of her stories and she disappoints. This book is full of twist, turns, and like the title of the book, bad decisions.
The scorching chemistry between Zoey and Brody is off the charts, their relationship is a sweet slow burn that leads to fireworks. The sexual tension was ever present all while the humor poured from both Zoey and Brody with hilarious jokes (especially from Zoe!) Their journey is full of plot twists and turns making this read impossible to put down.
I absolutely loved this story and these loveable characters. The story was filled with raw emotion and it had me laughing at different points throughout but had some heartbreaking moments in others. Definitely a must read!!
WOW! This book was fantastic!
It was a wild roller coaster ride!
Zoey and Brody were great characters with explosive chemistry! I loved their banter! The story had humor, drama and twists you won’t see coming! It held my attention all the way through!
I love Rockstar romance and this one was great! Get a copy and I’m sure you’ll love it too!
All Zoey wants is to step out of her famous brother’s shadow & make it big on her own in the entertainment industry. She didn’t anticipate a bad decision will lead her to become a dancer on MFB’s tour. She also didn’t anticipate bad boy drummer Brody, who manages to make her laugh with dirty jokes. As they hang out & learn more about each other, Zoey lets her guard down enough to let him in. Unfortunately, with bad decisions comes consequences – and Zoey is now dealing with the aftermath of her choices. A great, emotional read about two people fighting past demons to see if they can survive together in the end.
Wow! This book will take your emotions on one hell of a rollercoaster ride! This book starts off with a bang, and has a twist that you won’t see coming! From the dirty jokes, intimate moments, drama, I loved it all! Zoey and Brody are explosive! Great characters and amazing writing! From start to finish, there isn’t a dull moment!
After a bad decision lands Zoey as a contestant on a tv show she quits her job for bigger things that’ll be launched from her appearances on the show.
One bad joke and she finds herself off the show and less, but she still refuses to ride her brothers coattails! She gets a random call to be a backup dancer when someone drops out last minute and the rest is history…a history written with good & bad decisions.
