Bestselling author Lisa Suzanne’s newest standalone rock star romance has a forbidden twist you won’t see coming. After a bad decision lands me a role on a reality show, I expect it to be my big break as a TV star. Despite getting kicked off the first night, I land on my feet again when a talent agent who saw the show offers me an audition as back-up dancer for a popular rock band.Knowing this … band.
Knowing this could be my stepping stone is exciting, but the real thrill is watching Brody bang on his drums every night. It’s a bad idea for a dancer to hook up with a band member, but after he kisses me, I can’t stay away.
Facing the consequences was inevitable, and it only takes one scandalous mistake from my past to cause our complete destruction.
Bad decision or not, I always manage to come out on top… until I don’t.

It was a different story about love, rock n roll style, it was a wonderful book, with a slow – burn and it kindles throughout the story, enjoyed it!
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Zoey Fuller just wants to catch a break. But she does seem to have high expectations. I can’t say that I feel sorry for her since she doesn’t come off in a good light. I almost thought this was going to be another take on a certain reality show. But have no fear; it’s not – thank goodness. I’m sure that I’m one of the only ones that’s not a fan and sometimes that filters into my reviews. But I like this author and it just leads her into something else where she meets Brody Jenson. He seems to do a really good job at showing his bad boy vibe. You can tell he’s a player because he has to tell us about the moves he uses on women.
The author gives us plenty of jokes. The beginning was a little rough because I kept thinking, “that’s not funny!” But as I get to know our couple I start to chuckle a little. Then as they continue to crack the jokes I start to laugh – shows that a little patience pays off. For me, these were my page-turner moments. I wanted to see what the next joke was going to be and whether or not it was laughable – it was a great way to show the connection our couple had.
I know that the author lists this book as a standalone but how can you not want to get to know more about Dax Hunter and Kylie who just so happens to work with MFB. If you haven’t read their story yet, the book you want to check out is Take My Heart. Then we also have Zoey’s brother Ethan – I’ve got that one on my TBR list. The title of that book is The Invisible Thread. You don’t necessarily need to read them first, which is why you can call it a standalone, but wouldn’t you want to know how they got to the point you see them in this book?
What I liked here was how real the storyline seemed to be. We see that not everyone’s life is in anyway like the families you see on TV. Like any relationship there are ups and downs. There’s the getting to know you phase and even jealousy can rear its ugly head. Things can be tough when you live in the public eye or if you try to live up to your public persona. One thing we always look for is that happy ending but this time the author has to add in one last joke. And there I go again saying, “that’s not funny” but this time I add “that’s sweet!”
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
An Unpredictable and Unique Rockstar Romance
This is my first book by Lisa Suzanne and WOW! I was not disappointed! Zoey and Brody’s story was a riveting read from start to finish filled with emotional extremes from elation to anguish … angst to calm acceptance. Zoey and Brody’s actions on their journey toward their HEA are impacted by their past experiences and strong views with regard to relationships, fidelity, marriage, and career ambitions; complex characters who as a result of well-written dialogue not only come to life but are genuine and relatable. The secondary characters add a layer authenticity and richness which creates an additional level of realism to the story and has me eager to learn more about their stories from previous books. This fast-paced read had me laughing, cursing, and tearing up multiple times throughout the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the book from start to finish because I was able to immerse myself in Zoey and Brody’s world. I was sad to see their story come to a close but luckily as an added bonus Lisa Suzanne provided a link to an additional epilogue/bonus excerpt that is available online. If you enjoy Rockstar Romance and stories that will have you engaged and entertained from start to finish, don’t delay in adding this incredible book to your library.
Y’all are gonna love this book. Lisa Suzanne doesn’t play when it comes to having juicy details in this book. The things in this book will make you think Zoey and Brody are living in their own soap opera. This is one book that I can say I really enjoyed reading.
I was totally immersed in this story!
I love this title .. it was SOOO fitting to the story!
I NEVER expected THAT bomb to drop .. MG .. I was caught totally off guard and unaware! Totally epic twist that I didn’t see coming!
When BAD decisions were made it was like watching a horror story and I found myself shouting, “DON’T DO IT!” .. and then what an about face when I’m like, “WTH, What are you waiting for?!”
While Lisa Suzanne DID NOT keep me hanging with a cliffhanger (bless her heart) she did have me turning the pages with gusto to see how any of this could be made right. The roller coaster of emotions was real and ever present .. it wasn’t a “sit back and enjoy the ride” type roller coaster because that would imply it’s something to look forward to. No, it’s more like buckle up cause you’re in for a bumpy ride, and it’s gonna be crazy and twisted so hold on tight oh and don’t forget to breathe!
The drama was front and center and so gutwrenching at times. My heart broke for both Zoey and Brody but for very different reasons.
And then the sexual tension was ever present all while the humor poured from both Zoey and Brody with jokes which helped to break the emotional strong hold this book held me in.
Just how bad , can bad be?!
Read to find out!

The one thing you can count on with Lisa Suzanne, is that she is bang on with her Rockstar romances. The Benefits of Bad Decisions is the perfect combination of sexiness, wit and oh hell no moments!
Brody and Zoey will win your heart and also break it. There is that moment when you are reading The Benefits of Bad Decisions and your jaw hits the floor, your palms become sweaty and you are like Lisa Suzanne what have you done?! For those of you who love Mark Ashton like I do, fear not because he is back in this novel in his fine as always rock god form.
As MFB begins their tour, buckle up your seatbelt on their tour bus because Lisa Suzanne is going to take you on one heck of a ride.
This was like nothing I have read before it was better. This title really goes right along with the story and the drama of this story leaves you craving more. I couldn’t believe how this story just unfolded right before my eye. You meet Ethan’s sister Zoey and she turns your world upside down right next to Brody. These 2 really know how to get the emotions rolling for you. Each page had something new that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is a must read of must reads!!!! The 2 POV story really grabs you and how each character has its own personality that rocks your socks off.
Zoey Fuller has a dream of working on TV, and when the opportunity arises to participate in a reality show, she makes a bad decision that can change the course of her life. And to make matters worse, she gets kicked out at the first night.
The MFB band will go out on their first tour and need to get a dancer in the last hour and soon the name of Zoey appears. She is hired, but at the first meeting things don’t look so promising since she thinks she got the job because of her famous brother.
The attraction between Brody and Zoey is immediate and soon they give in to it, but when the result of one of Zoey’s bad decision appears, causing a turnaround that I didn’t really expect, things get really ugly.
Brody and Zoey will be able to overcome this huge obstacle? Or can a bad decision separate them forever?
It’s a very well written story and, as always, the characters are great.
I highly recommend the reading.
The Benefits of Bad Decisions is Brody and Zoey’s story and even though it is a stand-alone read, it was really fun to see the members of Vail and MFB in it. This has a roller coaster ride of emotions. I loved the fast paced witty banter and dirty jokes between Zoey and Brody. They made me laugh and giggle at the silliness. Then when things from the past comes back to bite I was heartbroken and it left me crying. Lisa Suszanne writes such amazing stories. She pulls you in and makes you fall in love with her characters. I really enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to more.
This book had my jaw dropping from the very begining. A complete big bang to start off. Roller coaster of emotions. With all the twists and turns. Had me laughing, crying and shouting at my phone so much that my family probably thinks I’ve gone crazy.
Zoey is Ethan Fuller from Vail little sister. She’s had a rough past and is willing to do anything to make a name for herself. Brody is the bad boy drummer of MFB. He and his father aren’t on the best of terms. The two have off the charts chemistry. Very caliente some hand me a fan. But there’s a plot twist that basically had me dropping my phone. Yes, dropping it good thing I was on my bed. So no phones were hurt during the reading of this story.
I started of this story not a big of Zoey. But of course Lisa Suzanne being the queen she is at melting my frozen heart managed to once again make me love a character. I don’t know how she does it but it just seems to happen. I couldn’t put this book down.
It captured my attention from beginning to end. Even though there was moments I wanted to slap some sense into the two main characters. But besides that I truly enjoyed the story. Now if you’ll excuse me I need to go purchase some tissues. Don’t know how I didn’t finish off the ones I currently had on during some certain chapters. *ARC received in exchange for an honest review*
Lisa Suzanne is still a new author to me since this is only my second book by her but I’m becoming addicted to her books. The Benefits of Bad Decisions will have you laughing at all the dirty jokes told throughout this book and there’s is a big twist that will have you upset at the main character for not taking the five minutes to hear the other side of the story.
I swooned over everything about Zoey and Brody, from the first met to the heartbreaking moments. Now I need to read go read about the VAIL band, more importantly, Ethan, Zoey’s brother YUM! Highly recommended every rock-star romance lover to read Lisa’s book – you will fall in love with her writing.
When your mind is made up to do whatever necessary to get what you want you don’t think about all the consequences. This was a funny story and the banter between the characters was well written with a twist I didn’t see coming that was just enough to keep you hooked on reading. I received an ARC of this and volunteered to review it.
This was such a fun book to read! I just loved the story line! I was hooked from the first page!
I loved this book so freaking much!!! Brody and Zoey are both goofballs prone to making bad decisions and I absolutely fell in love watching them open up to each other and find happiness in each other.
This book had some very painful moments that had me doubting their HEA, but they put in the work and get through it and come out stronger in the end. I absolutely loved following MFB again and getting to catch up with the Vail guys.
Lisa Suzanne has easily become my go to for rock star romances. Also, I’m always here for a good reality show setting, so this book delivered on all sides for me.
I absolutely love this book!!!
A really funny read about a rock-star playboy and his idol’s forbidden little sister.
This book was full of hot lust, temptation, betrayal, a ton of drama and some heartwarming love! I really liked Brody Jensen’s character and thought he found his equal in Zoey Fuller. These two were the perfect match, despite all of the heartbreak they encountered. They came out on top and figured out how to get past their histories and move forward together.
I loved the cross over factor of this story and how you got to revisit past series characters and see what they’re up to now. The Vail and MFB mashup is such a fun world to reminisce in!
I loved Zoey and Brody’s story. They went through so much. Zoey is one tough girl.
“…she sounds like the perfect addition to our tour. Crude and hot? Yes please.”
I was excited to see a new rockstar romance was coming by Lisa Suzanne. While I have several of her books on my kindle, I had never actually read her work in the past and rockstar romances are my jam! I was finally able to include Lisa’s newest book, The Benefits of Bad Decisions, to my blogging schedule recently and not only was it was an excellent forbidden rockstar romance but I loved the story.
I pride myself on writing unbiased reviews for self-published and traditionally published authors. We all have our favorites and I have many since I am such an avid reader but it’s still important to write reviews that are honest in my opinion. So this is me being candid with this review. When I started reading The Benefits of Bad Decisions, I actually expected to DNF the book. I loathed the heroine, Zoey and I was pretty unimpressed with the hero, Brody, initially. And the OW foreshadowing really put me off—although not a deal breaker by itself. But I am not someone who gives up easily and while I didn’t like these characters to start, I knew somehow that I needed to keep reading. And WOW! I am sooo very very glad that I followed my instincts. Zoey and Brody grew on me, and by the conclusion of the book, I was a little bit in love with him. These characters were not without fault and it was the very realistic personalities that at first put me off which I came to appreciate and love. Lisa Suzanne did a beautiful job of writing characters that showed growth and progression. It takes skill to write characters as she did but Lisa also showed her skillset was not limited to the character growth exhibited in TBOBD. She took a story that would have been relatively predictable and flipped it on its lid. Delivering a book that had my emotions were all over the place. The Benefits of Bad Decisions was a dual perspective romance that was witty, entertaining, sweet, sexy and angsty. The older woman/younger man dynamics is one that I read infrequently but love nonetheless so as the story unfolded, I loved the twist it added to the storyline. As I haven’t read the books written about secondary characters in TBOBD, I can say it’s truly a standalone—although I very much wish I had read Ethan’s story. The jokes between Brody and Zoey had me LOL-ing and the sexy times were hot! I found the book supremely entertaining and would rate it as 4.5 stars!
Quotes:
No Bang Oath flash briefly through my mind, but we never officially made one—which means I’m in the clear to bang whoever I want. And I want Ethan Fuller’s sister. Bad.
—
That single kiss told me more than our conversation over two drinks did. He gave it one hundred percent, and from past experience that tells me that he’s into me. He wasn’t half-assing a kiss as a way to get me into bed. He sees more than one night with me, but I could also sense his confusion in that. He’s not just a good kisser. He’s fucking incredible.
—
I realize as I storm out the front door that they’ll be at the show tomorrow night. They all will be. My whole family. My cheating father, my forgiving mother, my clueless sisters, and the woman who somehow took my heart, smashed it into obliteration, and left me here with a gaping hole in my chest.
—
I’ll be struck with sadness every time I hear a drum beat. I’ll feel a squeeze in my soul every time I spot the wooden sticks or a floor tom. I’ll remember how freeing and easy it was to dance in front of the man I was falling for as he kept the beat behind me.
—
He has the tall, dark, and handsome thing nailed down to a T. Dark eyes with a hint of cockiness behind them, lustrous dark hair that’s the perfect length for grabbing onto during sex, and those hands…good God, those hands… But he’s a drummer, which immediately and firmly plants him right into the friend zone. I know way too much about drummers.
Holy wow- I did NOT see that twist coming. And let me tell you- I ALWAYS see them coming. So bravo, Lisa Suzanne- you got me!
This was my first read from this author, but I definitely see myself reading the other books from these characters. I’m glad I went into this book blind so there would be no chance of guessing the twist. I still cant get it over it- very rarely do I not see a twist coming a mile away.
It was heartbreaking to read about the feelings Brody and Zoey were experiencing while they were apart. I definitely wanted to shake them both. “You both care about each other, fools! Fix your lives!”
But I digress… I really liked not only the main characters, but the supporting characters as well. On second thought, maybe not Jessa. She isn’t particularly likeable. But, that was the point of her character. She wasn’t meant to be likeable. So again, bravo!
There were a couple of spots I thought lagged a little, but overall the book kept the story moving, and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened. Mid-book I honestly wasn’t sure who Zoey would end up with at the end- it could have gone in a number of directions from there. I am happy about the way it all shook out, and so thankful that I won this ARC and found this author!
What an emotional thrill ride! So many ups and downs with a twist you just don’t see coming. Rock stars, Passion, drama, mistakes, sleezy Hollywood. This book keep you wondering if you are going to cry, laugh, or be angry each time you turn the page, only to find that on some pages you feel several emotions. Great characters with pasts that need to be addressed that make them stronger. I loved reading this book. I received this as an arc and this is my honest, voluntary review.
