Behind North Korea’s closed borders, a young girl is dying for freedom … But it is her father’s Christian faith, not the famine ravaging her province, that most threatens her well-being. Chung-Cha is only a child when her family is forced into one of the most notorious prison camps the free world has known. Her crime? Being the daughter of a Christian. The Beloved Daughter is a gripping, … Christian.
The Beloved Daughter is a gripping, inspirational novel that has won awards from Readers’ Favorite, Grace Awards, Women of Faith, The Book Club Network, and several others.

I actually listened to the audio copy of this book and it made it all the more dramatic. The narrator was awesome and really made it all the more realistic. I love the narrators ability to make it so authentic. The story is amazing on it’s own. The torment and torture these people are suffering in the name of Christ is unimaginable. It is a well written story sharing the bravery of those strong enough to stand for Christ in the midst of adversity, threat of death to themselves or harm to loved ones.
I love this author and her ability to bring awareness to the pain and suffering of those in and out of faith. I love that her books never feel like she is preaching but always stick to the word of God. Awesome!!
A very hard book to read but definitely recommend it. We need to know what is going on in places where Christianity is hated. Governments are determined to torture it out of innocent people. Communism is worse than a dead end. It is predatory and murderous. The life of the Beloved Daughter in North Korea is a microcosm of what happens all over the world to fellow believers in hostile countries. Read it and remember to pray for the persecuted believers everywhere. After this you might not ever be able to forget them.
I totally loved this book. I struggled to put it down. The information portrayed in this book is hauntingly realistic. Scary really as to how good we have it here in the U.S. Made me quite thankful for my comforts and freedoms. There were many twists and turns in this book. So thankful for those missionaries out there spreading the love of Jesus and how dangerous it can be.
This was a wonderful and inspiring book, I couldn’t put it down.
Wow. Powerful, demanding. I could barely put it down.
It opened up a new world to me, helping me understand the unimaginable and continuous terror the North Korean people live with, especially the Christians. It was written in a style that held my attention and touched my heart. But, what a disappointing ending, well it really wasn’t an ending. It left me hanging. I feel like the author toyed with my emotions to force me into buying the rest of the series. I don’t like that.
I am glad I read this book. It really made me appreciate the freedom I have in America.
Very sad but good ending
It sure opened my eyes about what goes on in North Vietnam. It sure made me appreciate my freedom. Excited to read second book
This story tells something about the history of North Korea and China which are in our news right now. It also tells of the family’s faith and their struggles when sent to a work camp. Some of them are weak and some strong. Some questioning.
Each chapter starts with a very short statement from the bible. I like that in a story and the characters were developed well.
