This series just keeps getting more amazing with each book. In this book we have Lindsay and Nick (I totally call dibs on Nick) they meet one summer as camp junior counselors and at first they keep away from each other but grow closer while away at sleepover camp. Some things happen that are out of both their control and they go separate ways not because they want to but they had to and they have their hearts broken. See they find that once in a lifetime love even though they are young it’s a true love so it’s heartbreaking the way they have to go years without each other. Not to spoil anything but Lindsay has some things she is running from and ends up right back where it all started and of course runs into Nick. Nick is an amazing sweetheart who is protective of those he loves and loves hard. Lindsay may not know it yet but she is strong and resilient. This story had it all and had me emotional but it was a great kind of emotional. This author can write and make the readers feel what the characters are going through. Loved it.
A real tear jerker for me. Books with abuse always makes my cry and tugs at my heartstrings. Young love that is so deep that even in adulthood that love is still present. Lindsey and Nick were meant to be together. Their story was a very emotional read for me however I am going to read this book over again because it was that amazing. Hats off to the author, you have written a fantastic book that leaves your readers wanting more and not afraid to come back for it. Highly recommended.
I don’t even know where to start, except to say that this book blew me the hell away. I don’t know how Krista does it, but she has me under her spell of heart-breaking characters who find love with all the odds and history stacked against them. I didn’t think Krista could top Em and Michael….WRONG. Topped!!!!
Lindsey Hanlon first met Nick Kincade at a summer camp in Langley Park. However, while Lindsey was smiling and happy, Nick was brooding and not in the mood to make friends, long lasting or temporary. Though things start change after sharing a bus ride and a quick shut eye power nap. After arriving at a new camp Nick and Lindsey realize that they may have more in common than they initial thought. Since they serve as counselors and have to do a walk around the camp at 3 am to make sure no campers are out of bed. They start to fall for one another after sharing a kiss on “Rachel and Rory’s rock”. Nick will leave a little sunflower near Lindsey’s cabin which she puts in her hair for the day. Making Rachel feel more closer to Nick and like him that much more.
“He’s like a southern version of Brad Pitt and Justin Timberlake’s six-foot-four-inch love child. He’s like all the hotness of Baywatch crammed into one guy.”
On their last night at Camp Clemens they share a passionate night. Only to have been separated due to their counselor duties the next day. Nick has to leave abruptly and when Lindsey goes looking for him, she is given a letter addressed to her that forever guts her.
Fast forward 16 years and Lindsey is back in Langley Park, but not because of love, but from fear for her life. Being that her godmother is Miss G, she moves into the house next door to Em and Michael. To her surprise Nick is there and good friends with her new neighbors.
Nick is back in Langley Park to put down roots. After getting a job as the new Director of Aviation he is determined to show Lindsey he isn’t going anywhere ever again. He wants nothing more than to make things right with the one person he has ever loved and been loved by. Though Lindsey isn’t the same girl he met at camp. Nick soon realizes that Lindsey’s past is after her and she is harboring a secret that could tear them apart forever or bring them even closer.
Will Nick be able to keep Lindsey safe? Will Lindsey be able to tell Nick the truth about her secret baggage? Can Lindsey love the first boy who broke her heart? Will Nick be able to not let who his father was dictate who he would be as a man?
Blow away…that is what I am. Krista is a special type of author who has the ability to make you keep coming back for more, but also the ability to write new stories that don’t sound like the same old story over and over again. I love how each of her characters are different and different things have happened to them during their short lives. Though if I am being honest….I actually didn’t like Nick at first. Strictly because I was afraid that he was going to take Jenna away from Ben. Being truthful here. So, I didn’t have the highest hopes for liking Nick, but Krista made me fall for him.
I loved the slow build up and the suspense as to what was going on at Camp Clemens all those years after they left. Plus running into old friends and campers was heartwarming. I also love how Krista can make me fall in love with cliff hangers. Though these are the good kind of cliff hangers. Can’t wait to see what happens to the next couple and hear more about Kate, little Skylar and Billy.
Yet another wonderful story. Well written – you feel like you are right there with them. I feel the emotions of the characters myself! Can’t wait to dive in to the next book!
Lindsey Hanlon returns to Langley Park after fleeing from her abusive ex. She has spent the past few months planning her escape and finally has the chance to start a new life. Lindsey tries to lay low to keep anyone from finding out her true identity, but a blast from her past complicates things.
Nick Kincade has never been able to forget his first love, Lindsey, after they met at a summer camp. He is stunned when he finds that she has returned to Langley Park after all these years, and the chemistry that remains between them is undeniable. Nick is willing to do anything to capture Lindsey’s heart once again, including facing her ex.
The Beginning of Home is packed with steamy romance, action, and suspense. The characters are fantastic and the story-line is even better. If you have read any of the previous books in the series, you will love this one just the same!
(I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.)
We have spent time with Nick in books 1 and 2 of this series–first as a bootie call and then as a friend. Now we get to know him as a man and a pilot. Lindsey is trying to start her life over in secret and is carrying a baby that she is keeping hidden for as long as possible. I loved seeing Lindsey learn how to trust people and be friends. Nick is even better than I though he would be. Together they are amazing.
Yet another Langley Park love story that captured my heart! Once again, the writing was superb and the characters well-developed and authentic. The story was enthralling and realistic, and I loved every second!
Lindsey and Nick are both camp counselors. After some unexpected events take place and both of their paths are brought back to Langley Park. Only Lindsey needs a fresh start and Nick wants to settle down after starting his new job neither are looking for love. Although it’s clear that they have feelings for each other, after Nick is forced to do an emergency landing he vows to always do anything to protect her. There’s a dash of suspense in this ultimately happily ever after that makes your heart smile.
The Beginning of Home was amazing.
I highly recommend this series.
Krista Sandor words is like a sweet caress.
Book 3 in the Langley Park series, this author has a fantastic writing style!
The young cast is all grown up now, and Lindsey is running home with a secret she hopes to avoid. Nick also is back, and wants to prove to Lindsey he’s not going to leave again.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Nick and Lindsey’s story started at summer camp 16 years before. They were ripped apart. Both are surprised to run into each other again. Can Lindsey get over the hurt that Nick left behind and try again or will Nick keep pushing her away?? Another great story in this series!!
Nick and Lindsay meet at camp where they were teenage counselors, they were polar opposite but after getting stuck together on the same shifts they get to know each other and open up about their lives and fall for each other. 16 years later Lindsay is back to Langley Park hiding and with a secret fate brings her and Nick together again and all those past emotions bubble up. We see how they deal with seeing each other, wanting each other and dealing with the emotions of not only now but of their pasts, at times it is raw with the subjects dealt with but its done in a very good way as to not offend and adds to you feeling more invested in the characters.
Such a beautifully written book with characters that you will fall in love with. You feel the puppy love, You feel the fear and you feel the rush of excitement. I really like books that you feel what the characters are feeling. This is one I highly enjoyed and couldn’t put down.
Nick and Lindsey have a past ..a sweet story of finding love at a summer camp.
Her grandma calls him a prickly pear, her friend calls him southern version of Brad Pitt and Justin Timberlake’s six foot four inch lovechild.
Nick has a lot of pain. He’s seen more then most kids at his age has. He was sent to camp with the hope of a start of a new life. It doesn’t work out that way. He wears a mask but Lindsey manages to see thru it and see the real him. They connect after a couple days at camp but then are separated. Lindsey hasn’t lived the best life since then. Yes she’s a well known photographer but her relationship isn’t what she thought it would be. The author handled this situation beautifully. You can tell she put a lot of effort into it and captured the fear that a woman in her position has. You also get to see her grow into herself and see how strong she truly is. I loved seeing that! She proved that surviving and love was important.
Nick has made a name of himself despite all that has happened in his life. He’s very protective but he’s also gentle when it’s needed. He’s great for Lindsey. I truly believe that. I love how all the supporting characters were with her. They supported her and was willing to take someone else if needed. They made my laugh so much! I loved how this book ended,it was so perfect!
OK. This is the first book I’ve read from Krista Sandor and OH… MY….GOD!!!! I seriously couldn’t put it down. So basically I just admitted to fully reading this book out of the Langley Series order but you know what THAT’S OKAY!!! I didn’t have to read the others to enjoy this book and I now am DEFINITELY going to be reading the others and can’t wait for the next!
This book starts out with Lindsey and Nick at summer camp when they were 16 years old. Its got all the teenage angst and baby love drama you would expect every young girl to both dream of and torment herself over. Both characters have been sent to camp as counselors away from their families. Lindsey is choosing to be strong and not show what she’s going through by being happy and joyous in the face of change while Nick is being the typical broody grouchy teenage guy. Its one five day stint at a sleep away camp that changes EVERYTHING. Opinions change, intense games of capture the flag are had and love blooms. Its just the beginning….
Fast forward 12 years and things haven’t gone the way either Lindsey or Nick have thought they would. Fate steps in and brings them both back to Langley but with some heavy baggage. Will they be able to overcome their issues and get their happily ever after they both deserve? You’re gonna have to read to find out!! I GUARANTEE YOU WON’T REGRET IT!
OMFG!!! THIS BOOK!! TEAR JERKER And Tissues at the Ready!! Krista Sandor is a New Author for me and She Had at the Very Beginning of THE BEGINNING OF HOME!! It was such a Rollercoaster ride of Emotional distress and Heartwreching Aches that will Leave you Speechless! Young Love at its Best and Beautifully written!! I CANNOT WAIT TO read more from Krista Sandor in Her WORLD of WORDS!!
I am a solid 3.5 on this book. I rounded to Four because the book is well written, and the characters created for this and future books are small town likeable folks. This is what I would consider low angst for the most part. Lindsey is running from a terrible relationship, when she moves to her godmother’s small Kansas town. Nick, a pilot, has just moved back to town as well. Both of them are running from traumatic pasts, and share a connection they thought was unbreakable over a summer when they were 16. The story of when Linsey and Nick were young and fell in love creates their connection.
I felt like in their finding their way back to one another, the connection wasn’t as rich or deep. But overall there is a great sense of 2nd chance, and abuse victims winning their war.
Excellent book. I enjoyed it very much.
Such an amazing book. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t iit down highly recommend t
This book will make you laugh and cry! It was so emotional!!! Nick and Lindsay’s story starts at summer camp and the. Years later they find each other again! Lindsay has been through so much and her past catches back up with her!! It was such an amazing story!!!
After reading The Sound of Home, I thought diving right into another book about second chances by the same author, Krista Sandor, would be a lot of the same….was I wrong. Nick and Lindsey were well written, gripping characters, the chemistry between is palatable. The build in the storyline was great, some twists, just an overall great read. New fan of Krista Sandor!
