Enter the medieval world of bestselling author Claire Delacroix, with this introduction to the family at Kinfairlie!More cherished than gold are the Jewels of Kinfairlie, and only the worthiest may fight for their love…The Laird of Kinfairlie has unmarried sisters, each a gem in her own right. And he has no choice but to see them all wed in haste.Lady Madeline’s heart is not for … for sale…especially not to a notorious outlaw like Rhys FitzHenry. Yet Madeline’s hand has been sold, to none other than this battle-weary warrior with a price on his head. A more dutiful maiden might cede to the Laird’s command and meekly accept her fate, but Madeline has never been obedient. She decides to run away, though she never dreams that Rhys will pursue her. She does not expect this taciturn man to woo her with fanciful stories, much less that each of his enthralling tales will reveal a scar upon his shielded soul. She never imagines that a man like Rhys could imperil her own heart while revealing so little of his own feelings. When Rhys’s past threatens his future, Madeline takes a leap of faith. She dares to believe him innocent— and risks her own life to pursue a passion more priceless than the rarest gem.

*****
Claire has published three series set in her medieval Scottish world of Ravensmuir, Kinfairlie and Inverfyre and is working on a fourth.
The Rogues of Ravensmuir is a loosely linked trilogy and is chronologically first:
1. The Rogue (Merlyn and Ysabella)
2. The Scoundrel (Gawain and Evangeline)
3. The Warrior (Michael (the Hawk) and Aileen)
The Jewels of Kinfairlie is a popular place to start, since it introduces the eight siblings at Kinfairlie, and their quests for true love. Because these books are more tightly linked, it’s best to read the stories in order:
The Jewels of Kinfairlie:
1. The Beauty Bride (Madeline and Rhys)
2. The Rose Red Bride (Vivienne and Erik)
3. The Snow White Bride (Alexander and Eleanor)
4. The Ballad of Rosamunde (Rosamunde and Padraig)
The True Love Brides:
1. The Renegade’s Heart (Isabella and Murdoch)
2. The Highlander’s Curse (Annelise and Garrett)
3. The Frost Maiden’s Kiss (Malcolm and Catriona)
4. The Warrior’s Prize (Elizabeth and Rafael)
At this point, only Ross is left unmatched. We follow him to Inverfyre, where we catch up with the Hawk and Aileen’s children, too.
The Brides of Inverfyre:
1. The Mercenary’s Bride (Mhairi and Quentin)
2. The Runaway Bride (Ross and Aiofe)
The next book in the Brides of Inverfyre will be The Stolen Bride, which is Evangeline and Ramsay’s story.

Great book.
nice co ntrol of the setting
I liked it so much because the characters interest me, their relationship develops on tenuous conditions, the male is very male and responsible to a fault (which I expect and admire in my very male heros), and I can expect a happily ever after ending….I am reading these books to “take me away” for a short while to help me cope with the stress of …
I loved the series
Good read
An enjoyable book, with lovely tales within the tale to help move the story along.
Great reading
Loved it
I liked the characters in this story. Great read.
What would you do to a brother that auctions your life away to a total stranger?
Madeline is shocked when she finds out her aunt’s booty from her life of piracy is not the only thing being auctioned.
Can Madeline and Rhys make a match of it?
Suspenseful, tender, anger, and sexy. a not miss!
Have read numerous other books by this author, but did not enjoy this book.
I loved it
The whole premise behind this book is totally preposterous in this day and age. But, ladies, we were considered property at one time! And this book gives an enjoyable account of what can happen…
so so. Not the best by this writer
Wonderful book! Let’s the reader guess what is to come next.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed reading it, captivating.
I loved the way the author drew these two together. I loved how she made the story come alive. Never a dull set of pages you had to drudge through before things picked up. So refreshing.
It gives you different emotions throughout. Strong woman character. Stubborn characters. You will love it. I read all 3 in series and love them all

I really wanted to like the story, but couldn’t get over the fact that the heroine is way too old to be that naive and clueless. She acts like a spoiled teenager most of the time (despite being 23), and for someone who’s supposed to be clever, she’s not very perceptive.
To be honest, I thought this book would be a re-write of the fairy tale …
Madeline’s brother has become laird recently upon the death of their father, and needs money to feed the clan. He decides to auction off his eldest sister. The winner is Rhys, with coin but unknown to them as he has just come to town to try to find his aunt who would inherit his familial lands. Through their travels and escapades along the way, …
