A Must Read!!! I was captivated with this Historical Romance! A fast-paced, action-packed story with steamy romance! I loved the characters and the brilliant wit the author had in telling this story! Well done!!
A bit aggressive, but enjoyable.
A different type of romance. The lead Male character was strong and very much in love with the laird’s daughter. He felt he would never have a chance to be near her. A twist of fate brings them together and she eventually learns what fortune has given her.
Very verbal. Slowly leads reader to history of the “beast”. His romamtic interset takes a long time to accept his physical appearance . Otger chaeacters are more perceptive about the character of ” The Beast”.
Another wonderful medieval Scottish romance from Jayne Castel, and a great start to this series! I loved the gritty, rich details, realistic yet lovable characters, and all the action. Recommended!
One of those that keeps you turning pages!
A very nice read
Great book
Love, romance, feud, war. What a clever idea for a wedding night! Very original.
This is an entertaining read with a plucky heroine and a scarred hero, so I was rooting for them from the start. A solid start to the series, I am definitely interested in reading the next book. Recommended for fans of romance.
Everyone deserves to be loved. It speaks of a strong character to look beyond the surface to see the person underneath, whether good or bad.
The book was good, but it seemed like it took forever to get to the love story which we all knew was inevitable. Also, two scars on one’s face does not make him a beast, especially in a time where scars were to be expected.
I lived for the moments of dialogue between the H and h, but they were few and far between.
Over all: The story idea had potential (I love a good Beauty and the Beast retelling) but there was too much missing interaction.
That being said, I don’t regret reading the book and would totally read the other books in the series.
I liked it!
i really felt for her charater. it was exciting.
The story was ridiculous to say the least. Since I got the book for free, I guess I cannot complain, however I would not recommend this book to anyone. I am an avid romance reader and have read hundreds of romance books over the years. THe Hero is described an extremely unattracted. I cannot recall if he was injured in battle or simply born that way. The heroine is brave, daring (yada yada yada). Needless to say the actions of both characters were inconsistent with the time period and the story lacked any sense of romance. I simply did not finish the book feeling as though I had truly enjoyed reading the story.
I just wanted to read some romance, and to escape for a little while. This story entertained me, had characters I liked, and helped me to escape to the Middle Ages. Good read, makes me want to read the next in the series.
A strong woman forced to marry against her will finds true love! Great read.
This is a semi-retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Was an ok read.
Rhona does not want to be forced into marriage, but her father has the say. He proclaims the winner of the highland games will get the privilege of her hand. Taran is in love with her but feels unworthy due to his scars. He is determined to win the games and her hand….hopefully her heart.
Jayne Castel took me on an amazing journey with this book! I couldnt put it down and cant to read all of her books.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
