A Regency re-telling of Beauty and the Beast, featuring a strong heroine and a scarred, tortured hero.Lord Victor Mayhew, Viscount Norcross, lives in the shadows, hiding his scarred face from those who would fear him… or worse, pity him. He’s become accustomed to the dark, and to the aching loneliness that is his only and constant companion. But while traversing the city in the dark of night, … traversing the city in the dark of night, he encounters a beautiful woman who is running for her life.
Lady Thessaly Shade has discovered that the prettiest of faces can hide the ugliest of hearts. While Lord Norcross keeps his face carefully concealed from her, he cannot hide the fact that he is a man of honor, a man for whom the word gentleman is a way of life and not merely an honorary title.
With no way to repay him for his kindness, for his courage in aiding her at great risk to himself, Thessaly bargains with the only thing she possesses of value… herself. Can she convince him to trust her, to believe that she can see beyond the scars he bears to the man he is? Or will he push her away out of fear and retreat into the loneliness that he knows so well?
The Beast of Bath is a 30,000 word novella previously published in the Wicked Fairytales Anthology. It features some violence and steamy, open door sex scenes.

A twist on Beauty and the Beast
I loved the characters and the storyline. I also enjoyed how it kept true to the inner beauty over outer beauty. I just wish it had gone on a bit more. I wanted to read about him finding his way back into the light and acceptance into the outside world once again. Or at least them having a baby! But overall really sweet, rushed but sweet.
A wonderful take on Beauty and The Beast. It proves that there is more to a person than what people might believe about someone. The storyline is a more modern version but set in a great setting and time period. The characters make you feel something for them right away. Definitely a worthy read for all who need reminding that a person is more than skin deep.
No character development. Too short.
Did not love this one. It could have evolved into a really good story, but it was so fast, and there was no meat to the story. None of the characters were very developed in any way. There was even a huge mistake in the end where she told him the name of the man who cut her, but the villain didn’t actually say his name when he did it!! I felt like I was reading Cliffs notes.
Very predictable. But cute book.
There were many instances of foreshadowing that came to nothing in the book. I was disappointed that the story could have been developed but instead focused on the easiest way to get the book written and done, it seemed. Instead, so much was centered around sexual encounter.
Wonderful story…looks aren’t everything!
Loved it! I would certainly read another book by this author.
Different twist on the fairy tale.
Dark characters who couldn’t resist each other.
Wish it were longer, really loved it.
Good book, really enjoyed reading this. Hope to read more from this Author
Fun, quick little romance.
Comesout on top
Book was not very long so you just didn’t get to know the characters. He rescues her and within a few hours she decides to marry him – eh……would have liked more character development.
Good and a quick read
I wish it was longer. The characters were very likeable.
I really enjoyed the story and the characters!
There are better books out there that remake Beauty and the Beast.
