A Regency re-telling of Beauty and the Beast, featuring a strong heroine and a scarred, tortured hero.Lord Victor Mayhew, Viscount Norcross, lives in the shadows, hiding his scarred face from those who would fear him… or worse, pity him. He’s become accustomed to the dark, and to the aching loneliness that is his only and constant companion. But while traversing the city in the dark of night, … traversing the city in the dark of night, he encounters a beautiful woman who is running for her life.
Lady Thessaly Shade has discovered that the prettiest of faces can hide the ugliest of hearts. While Lord Norcross keeps his face carefully concealed from her, he cannot hide the fact that he is a man of honor, a man for whom the word gentleman is a way of life and not merely an honorary title.
With no way to repay him for his kindness, for his courage in aiding her at great risk to himself, Thessaly bargains with the only thing she possesses of value… herself. Can she convince him to trust her, to believe that she can see beyond the scars he bears to the man he is? Or will he push her away out of fear and retreat into the loneliness that he knows so well?
The Beast of Bath is a 30,000 word novella previously published in the Wicked Fairytales Anthology. It features some violence and steamy, open door sex scenes.

If you love retellings of beauty and the beast you’ll love Victor and thessaly’s story!! It was a fabulous read with loads of passion and steamy moments that were kindle melting worthy. Chasity bowlin is a fabulous storyteller and I loved the whole regency romance time period. And though Victor might look like a beast he is nothing like that, he is a great hero and excellent giving lover who has spent too much time being alone and when he saves thessaly from being sold to a brothel by her stepfather all he ask’s is that she marries him and has his heir. Thessaly goes into this marriage to Victor not knowing what he looks like, but that he is a man of honor and what starts as a arrangement becomes a awaking of not only her body ,but her heart as well . Loved both of these characters so much! Can’t wait to read more from this fabulous writer! Until next time luv’s
My favorite tale is Beauty and the beast and I loved this re-telling of the story.
This is a great retelling of Beauty and the Beast, set in a steamy historical romance!
All the classical markers are there. The beast with a curse that forces him to hide in his castle. The beauty who is desperate enough to make a deal with him. A vile self-absorbed villain. And a house of servants that see the Beast for the man he has become. Now that might sound simple but this story is not the warm and fuzzy sing-along from Disney. Like the movie, Thessaly is without a mother, but her dear papa is definitely cut from a far darker cloth than the classic. That is where the story starts and it only gets darker and steamier from there on out.
It was a short read, without an epilogue, but there was a lot of story with lots of steamy scenes. There are many retellings of the classics and always will be more, but I felt this was its own unique version. The plot is great and I liked it a lot, but it reminds me that I definitely would not want to live in this time period. I like the modern convinces of today too much. Of course this is my opinion as a person looking back from the future, where a person from that time has no idea of any other way of life, in regards to electricity, indoor plumbing, and medicine. That being said, I have always been far too willful of spirit to be content with the lack of rights women had during that time in history. I would of most likely gotten myself killed, arrested, or committed due to my “unruly” and “un-lady-like” behavior!
The book was narrated by Lillian Yves, who did a great job. The pacing seemed a bit too fast, so I lowered the speed which fixed my issue. I would say it was a technical issue as opposed to a narrator issue. The narrator did well with all the different character’s voices. The volume level of her voice was consistent throughout the listening experience, never dropping too low forcing me to constantly adjust the volume. This is a personal pet-peeve of mine and I am glad to say I did not find that issue in this audiobook.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Romantic Fiction.
Due to its setting and title, this might qualify for the sub-genres: Historical Romantic Fiction and Paranormal Romantic Fiction
For those that do not like these sub-genres, I say: Proceed Without Caution! Why? The time frame of the book is 1817, but it is not heavy on the history. And despite the mental imagery the title might conjure, it is not paranormal. Just regular humans who happen to live a long time ago.
Overall I give this 5 of 5 stars!

I loved the original Beauty and the Beast story and I love this adult version too.
It is written in a way that made me fall for ‘The Beast’. I loved the way he came to care for Lady Thessaly after rescuing her. Surprise after surprise unfolded as I listened to this story and I was glued to the very end.
The audiobook is short and Lillian Yves has done a brilliant job with her narration.
I am happy to recommend this version and hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
An audiobook version was provided by the author, narrator or publisher at no cost and this is my honest and unbiased review.
Victor needed the forceful helping of Thessaly to come out of his shell. This was a wonderfully told story
This was a classic Beauty and the Beast story. It is romantic and we’ll written. The characters and the setting need to be developed more fully for the reader’s imagination since the story itself is so predictable.
I enjoyed the characters and the romance. I didn’t give it 5 stars because the ending seemed very abrupt. I think it needs an epilogue.
I loved the take on the Beauty & the Beast & also having a strong woman to match the hero’s strength.
A fine re-telling of a “tale as old as time.”
I enjoyed it, and would have loved for the story to be longer. It was over shortly after it started. It would have been great to have more character depth and a much longer storyline. However, I liked the story & characters so much that I will read another of this author’s novels.
Great twist to an old tale.
Enjoyed
Great plot premise and I would have given this book more stars but it is way too short for characters that have so much potential and so many problems to solve! It left me wanting to turn the last page and read much more. Too much tied up too quickly, characters not fully developed, and ending came too fast.
A fun twist on the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale.
Fairy tale fun.
I love this fast and steamy read.
It’s a quick and light summer read. A pretty straightforward re-telling of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, with nothing to particularly recommend it or condemn it.
I was at Bath last summer and I could envision these characters there. I love the beauty and beast theme. We all live this sometimes I am a beast sometimes my hysband.
I love Beauty & the Beast books, I must have over 15 in my Library. I enjoyed this book. I just wish that it was longer. But it is worth the money & time.
It was a beautiful rendition of the beauty and beast fable, and the character development was good. The reason I graded it lower was because the editing and proof reading of this book was not good, and misused words (“made” when it needed to be “maid” and “there” when it needed to be “their”) is one of the things that always make me cringe. The book was short, and there were several plots that I felt were left hanging at the end of the book.
The Beast Of Bath by Chasity Bowlin is a great read. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. Ms. Bowlin has given us a book that is well-written and furnished with outstanding characters. Thessaly is running from her step-father when she’s rescued by Victor. Their story is full of drama, action, humor and sizzle. I enjoyed reading The Beast Of Bath and look forward to reading more from Chasity Bowlin in the future. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
