Wow another great book from a new to me author. When I saw this book being mentioned a few times the premise pulled me in. I love reading stories of librarians and how they live in the books they read. And also with the heroes as gruff, alpha, possessive males. This definitely had all that. I could not put this book down, I have to say I rushed reading through it, I actually was anxious about them finally getting together! This was a slow burn but with a lot of sexual tension throughout the book.
Bronte and her colleagues from the library they work for are given an opportunity to work at the Aubyn Hall library. They had heard rumors about the owner who was given the name “beast.” So the story already starts off with some tension, which builds once Bronte and Caine finally meet. As the story goes on, it gets pretty hot and steamy. I can’t say enough how much I love the alpha males, but something about Caine seemed different from the ones I’ve been reading these days. I loved the way he basically stalks Bronte with his eyes and the way he talks to her is hot!
I liked Bronte, she’s a bookworm, she’s funny and klutzy and just adorable, but the push and pull towards Caine was too much for me. I can see this story was meant to be a slow burn, but it took too long!! And when the real reason for the team being there, I really did not understand her response to it. I personally thought it was romantic.
Some of the secondary characters were a hoot, loved Max who can predict the future from time to time, Rasmussen his childhood friend and Bronte’s co-workers were fun too from time to time.
All in all I really enjoyed this story, I haven’t felt the anticipation I did while reading this book in a long time. I’m thinking I’m going to be checking out the first book soon.
*Finishes book and sighs dreamly*
This book captivated me. This is the story of Bronte, a librarian who is good at her job and Caine Aubyn, “The Beast”, who owns a beautiful library in his rich home that has been kept away from the public, until now. Until he asked the library that Bronte works at to take care of it. Little does anyone know his reasoning is a surprise. As soon as Bronte and Caine meet they can’t get enough of each other. Caine wants her. She wants him but fights her hardest to keep their relationship professional. His advances and her fighting him off was hilarious to follow. She seems to just make a fool of herself and it’s hilarious.
I related a lot to Bronte. Her spirit, her hopes and dreams and especially her knack for embarrassing herself. She is definitely a favorite character for me from all the books I have read now. And Caine. Whew! Turn on a fan! Talk about hot. And he knows it. But there is something so sexy about how determined he is to be with Bronte. And as the reader I just want to smack her and say “go with it!”
This was a fun read. And I highly suggest it for all romance fans. The authors note states there is another book in the series out in 2019. I can’t wait!
Bronte and her friends are librarians who have been given the task of organizing the infamous library of Aubyn Hall. Her and her friends have heard rumors about this library and the “beast” that lives there. When they arrive at the mansion, they meet Caine (the beast/owner) who seems to have his sights set on Bronte.
Bronte was a confusing character. She wanted to be strong, but her actions came off as being a doormat. She gave into everything Caine asked of her even when her mind was telling her no.
Caine seemed to be a dominating jerk. He pushed and pushed even when Bronte said no. I know he was trying to push her past the wall she had built up, but sometimes it seemed too much.
The ending was so cute. The reasoning as to why Caine wanted Bronte was so romantic. It was definitely my favorite part.
