Known for her moving characters and emotional honesty, Mary Alice Monroe brings readers a beautifully rendered story that explores the fragile yet enduring bond between mothers and daughters Caretta Rutledge thought she’d left her Southern roots and troubled family far behind. But an unusual request from her mother–coming just as her own life is spinning out of control–has Cara heading back to … Cara heading back to the scenic Lowcountry of her childhood summers. Before long, the rhythms of the island open her heart in wonderful ways as she repairs the family beach house, becomes a bona fide “turtle lady” and renews old acquaintances long thought lost. But it is in reconnecting with her mother that she will learn life’s most precious lessons–true love involves sacrifice, family is forever and the mistakes of the past can be forgiven.

One of my all time favorite books!
This is a wonderful series…I love the depth of the characters and the setting.
Wonderfully developed characters. By mid-point it became rather predictable, but still a good read!
wonderful book
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great book!
Love, love, love this book. I highly recommend it.

Great story! Love Alice Monroe.
Loved this book. What a great summer read!
I enjoy her books. Good story and character!
I liked the book very much. Especially all the information about the loggerhead turtles, which were used as a metaphor for human mothers.
Love the book and movie to. Great beach reading
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and especially so the 2nd in the series, “Swimming Lessons.” Great Summer read which was well researched and educational as well!
This was a very enjoyable book to read.
Always enjoy reading Mary Alice Munroe’s books, especially this series.
The characters were real people with problems that were not always apparent to even the friends. Add the beach house, loggerhead turtles, and a hurricane and you have the makings of a good story. I loved that the romantic interest was not a twenty something but an adult who had yet to reconcile its past issues.
The recently made movie did not do it justice. They seldom can, to be truthful.
I enjoyed the flow of the book. It was enjoyable to read about the relaxed atmosphere of the island life.
Loved this book. Great story.
Another winner by Mary Alice Monroe! Love all her books.
