RATTLED
This is only a short novella but certainly packs a punch, very intense & moving. Kelsey & Alex both attended Baxter’s Academy of Art where they didn’t like each other.
Kelsey finally has the money to have a special tattoo but only if she’s a model for a tattoo artist auditioning for the Reed brothers & their reality show, as the price is reduced by half. Alex is the tattoo artist who’s auditioning.
At first the antagonism is still there but as the pair open up to each other whilst Alex is doing the tattoo their perception of each other is dramatically changed. The novella ends with them going for a coffee, this leaves the way open for them in Still Rattled.
STILL RATTLED
This book follows on immediately from Rattled.
Kelsey Fry & Alex Dosek go for a coffee after Alex has finished Kelsey’s tattoo but its Thanksgiving so the diner is full as it’s offering a great deal on a Thanksgiving meal. Alex invites Kelsey back to dinner at the brownstone he rents along with five other guys who also went to Baxters.
Who would have thought a house full of boys would become a refuge for Kelsey? The Baxter boys come to Kelsey’s rescue and all is well, but the past has a way of catching up with you, and Kelsey’s past reaches out with a phone call. The daughter she gave up for adoption is sick, and she needs something only Kelsey can give her. Alex & Kelsey find they are rapidly falling for each other & both relish not being alone.
However things don’t go smoothly, one of Kelsey’s flatmates is a complete snob but her comeuppance is so apt, her daughter becomes ill, her student teaching placement is withdrawn. All of these she takes in her stride until Alex tries to help.
Things also don’t go smoothly for Alex, when one of the joint owners of the tattoo parlour suffers a stroke.
This is a heart warming story & the other five guys in the house are wonderful, I hope they each get their story especially Dylan. I loved the chemistry between Alex & Kelsey & the way the chapters were written from each ones perspective, something the author does really well. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
RATTLE HIS CAGE
Dylan & his housemates all met when they went to the Baxter Academy & they are as close as brothers. Alex & Kelsey have recently become an item & whilst the guys were helping Kelsey they met her flatmate Mary who’s training to be a nurse. Dylan & Mary are immediately attracted to each other but each believes the other won’t / doesn’t feel the same way. The other flatmates Shelby & Tiffany are awful, they’d managed to get Kelsey to move out & are now working ‘their magic’ on Mary.
So Mary goes to the guys’ brownstone to get some sleep.
Dylan was separated from his brother & two sisters ten years ago & he is desperate to find them, his brother Noah has gone missing but his eldest sister Nina is turning eighteen so he hopes to meet with her soon.
Dylan writes food / restaurant reviews & keeps a blog but is also writing steamy novels however he has his problems. Mary hasn’t come to terms with her soldier father’s death.
Dylan & Mary’s story is very touching & the trip to Trenton had me crying. There is also humour & the bet had me chuckling. Another lovely Rattled book. This could be a stand-alone book but if you’re like me I have to read a series from the beginning & in order. I fell for Dylan in an earlier book & so glad he got his story. I like the way the chapters were written from each ones perspective; something the author does really well.
ALL HORNS & RATTLES
Nina White has been fostered for the past twelve years, she’s eighteen on New Year’s Day & she’s turfed out of her foster home after breakfast with nowhere to go. Luckily she’s worked at a diner & the staff there look after her, she’s also worked at Miguel’s Gym & no way is Miguel going to see Nina living on the streets, There’s an empty room in the apartment attached to the gym & it’s got Nina’s name on it.
Tennyson Leroy Lippincott or Tex has known Nina since she was a smart-mouthed, tough teen working with him at Miguel’s Gym. Tex knows nothing of Nina’s past, and he’s never had to fight for anything, until he decides he wants Nina, scars and all.
Nina has had it bad for Tex, not that she’d ever tell him. His sweet smile and a heart the size of Texas are way too good for her. If he ever learned about the ugliness of her past, he’d go back to his perfect family and his perfect home and his perfect life.
Nina is attacked by two guys & injures her head. Tex decides he has to tell her how he feels.
One kiss sends her world spinning out of control.
This series is just SO good. Nina is Dylan’s long lost sister who he’s been searching for, Nina believes her two brothers don’t want her. I felt for Nina a horrid foster mother who stole her savings, a caseworker who hid the truth, she so deserved a break. You are taken on a gamut of emotions throughout the book. The characters are well portrayed & the pace of the book keeps you reading, I burned the midnight oil to finish it.
SHAKE, RATTLE & ROLL
A brief meeting. An immediate attraction. A weekend to remember.
Christian Sucato wishes he’d never agreed to go on tour once he meets Bethany Dalton. But, he needs to go, and it’s not for the music. There’s someone he must try to find. Bethany Dalton has avoided men and complications through college but just as she nears graduation, Christian Sucato steps into her life and nothing is ever going to be the same.
And Christian is left wondering if he’ll ever have the one thing he’s always wanted. A family and people that belong to him that are his blood. He’s not even sure he’ll live to have the chance.
Another compelling page turning novel that took me through a gamut of emotions from chuckling to crying. Christian’s emotions whilst dealing with the test results were very well handled The first few pages had me laughing, then later I was in tears more than once & the texting was hilarious. I found it very hard to put down & read it in a day in fact read until 1am & was awake at 5 30am reading again a true indicator of how much I’m enjoying a book. Once again a stunning romance, definitely a keeper along with the rest of the series & one to read again & again,
RATTLING AROUND
The Baxter boy novels are very well written & you are drawn into their world. This could be read as a stand alone book but to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading about Baxter from the start. The plot is very well paced & there are a few surprises, one in particular had shivers running down my spine. The characters have depth & are well portrayed. Sean has been around in the background but he came into his own in his story, a truly lovely guy who is very caring, thoughtful & practical. Noelle had had a traumatic few months & has dealt with everything thrown at her until a nonworking tap opens the flood gates. I’m totally hooked on the series
THE CHRISTMAS RATTLE
The Baxter boy novels are very well written & you are drawn into their world. This could be read as a stand alone book but to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading about Baxter from the start. This is only a short story, which I read in one sitting (I couldn’t put it down!) but boy does it pack a punch, I think this is the most emotional of the Baxter Boys series. The plot is very well paced & had me welling up several times eg when Noah arrives at the brownstone, when Jade sings Cyndi Lauper & when she speaks . The characters have depth & are well portrayed. I just loved it
SLIGHTLY RATTLED
The Baxter boy novels are very well written & you are drawn into their world. This could be read as a stand alone book. The plot is very well paced & there are a few surprises. The characters have depth & are well portrayed. This is different as it isn’t a romance but reveals Christian’s backstory, there’s also a surprising link to one of the girls. It also opens the door to further books. I’m totally hooked on the series
THE RATTLE BOX
Two things stand in the way of Madison Cross realizing her dream of studying music performance and composition at a prestigious college:
1) Her parents, who don’t understand or get her, and want her to attend a community college and settle on a career that will actually support her one day; and
2) A private instructor.
No music school is going to take her seriously with only middle and high school instruction, but she has never been given the opportunity for private instructions (see #1 above). Her one shot is convincing Mrs. Dosek, a well-respected pianist who teaches for free, but the woman won’t return an email, let alone talk to her. Every time Madison is about to play Mrs Dosek leaves. Madison does manage to speak to her but she says it’s not the right time of Madison’s life.
Whilst cleaning the attic Madison discovers a pink box of letters, with ‘the rattle box’ written on the outside. Madison can’t resist & starts to read the letters. She’s consumed with wanting to know more about the woman who wrote them. Through reading the heartbreaking letters, Madison comes to learn more than she ever dreamed of about herself
This is the third in the ‘Rattle’ stories it could stand alone, but if like me you have to read a series in order then I’d definitely recommend the first two stories too.
The letters are heart wrenching & you really feel for Kelsey. A real tear jerker of a book, particularly the last few pages – have the tissues handy!
I’m a die-hard regency lover & thoroughly enjoyed the author’s regency books especially the Trent series. I received a copy of one of her Baxter books & I was hooked. They are well- written emotional books that I couldn’t put down & the more I read the more I was drawn into the world of the Baxter boys. Definitely an author to read & I recommend this book
