Eli was a heart throb! Even though he was a jerk to Isabell in the book their love story was to die for. Love the Crane Family
If you don’t read the other book i would read this one
Going to war and dealing with the after effects from an life altering injury have made Eli Crane a hardened man, one that is far from the carefree man he use to be, but with time he is starting to see glimpses of that man return. His family wants to him to jump head first into the family business, but he’s not so sure he’s cut out to be the man their expecting him to be, so he tries to shut them out, and avoid his duties. So, they devise a little plan of their own, and hire him an assistant in hopes that she can motivate him to come out the sheltered world he’s created for himself and get more involved with Crane Industries. After firing several of the assistants sent to him, he hopes his family has taken the hint and given up, but that hope is quickly dashed when Isabella Sawyer walks through his door, and the minute she does he instantly knows he’s just met his match!
Isabella Sawyer is a determined woman who doesn’t let much of anything ruffle her feathers, but the minute she meets the alluring billionaire Eli Crane she is instantly rattled, he tests her patience, pushes her buttons and yet she can’t seem to stay away. He has just sent ten of her most highly qualified assistants packing, deeming them unfit to do their job for one reason or another, and she is mad as hell, and on a mission to make sure this deal with Crane Industries does not fail. But the more time she spends with the brooding billionaire, the more she starts to see the man hiding underneath the hardened shell and she like what she sees, but she’s not so sure that’s a professional line she is willing to cross…
I loved Eli’s story so much, it was everything I thought it would be and SO much more, he had my heart in his hands from page one! Watching him struggle to come to terms with his new reality and find a way accept it was heart wrenching at times, but also proved to be quite inspiring too. He chose not to let his injury define him or the life he would lead and watching him find love along the way too was a very touching and beautiful thing to witness. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting each of Ms. Lemmon’s billionaire bad boys, and I have to say Eli just edged his way into the lead as my favorite, his story left an indelible impression on my heart!! I highly recommend you give this read a try, it will have you laughing, smiling, blushing, and swooning from start to finish…and leave secretly wishing you had a billionaire bad boy of your very own!!
I’ve read quite a few books by Jessica Lemmon and they never cease to just amaze me. I’ve been lucky enough to read this entire series and not once, has Lemmon let me down! Her writing style is kind of flawless in my mind. The characters ALWAYS keep me entertained, the plot is ALWAYS captivating and I ALWAYS end up giving her books 5 (well deserved) stars. This one was no exception.
Of all three books, this one made me nervous to think about reading. The only reason for that was the main character, Eli. Eli was injured while he was with his Marines overseas. I just knew that this one would be tough to swallow at times because of the severity of his injuries, his feelings and just how Eli, as a character, was presented in previous books. This dude makes it very clear that he wants to be left alone. While it’s never said (I don’t believe … I sped through this one), he’s got a mad case of survivor’s guilt and it completely consumes this poor man. I thought that I would have a difficult time connecting with Eli but he is ornery as hell and for some reason, I just love that! Plus, he’s protective and dashingly handsome. Neither of those things is in any way bad.
Once again, Lemmon wrote some fantastic chemistry for Eli and Isabella. You’re left just sitting on the edge of your seat, wishing and hoping that something would come from all of the pseudo/awkward flirting that was going on. I really want to say something else but I don’t want to ruin it!!! It’s goood. Trust me.
All in all, I think that this might be my favorite of the series. There was so much buildup about Eli in the previous two books that you really don’t know what you’re going to get when you crack the spine on this one. It is so much more than I had hoped it would be. It’s a series that I’ll think about in the future and I’ll definitely read again. Lemmon is my author hero. This lady knows how to keep a reader entertained.
