In the world of the Regency, Christian Elliott, Baron Shrewsbury has it all. Helene Whitcombe has nothing except a prickly slate of feminist principles and a job as a schoolteacher in Lord Shrewsbury’s Orphanage for Girls. Pride on both sides separates them, but that doesn’t stop the fierce attraction that builds between this unlikely pair. Can the penniless vicar’s daughter humble the haughty … haughty baron? Or will her uncomfortable principles and his high place in society prove to be insuperable barriers to love?

the Characters in this book were well developed and quickly became like friends. I was so emotionally attached that I bought the entire series after reading book 1. That is rare for me. Loved , loved ,loved the entire series.
Pretty standard romance novel except that the heroine was an early women’s libber. That did add an unusual twist to the novel. Then there was the mystery of an attempted murder. I have read novels by this author before and found them funny and the characters amusingly eccentric. This one was okay, but a little disappointing in view of her other …
An enjoyable story. Not very romantic yet the characters are likeable. Super clean well told story for the period.
clean
Crude and violent in a twisted way. I didn’t finish the first chapter.
Very enjoyable read.
I have nothing but praises to sing of Ms Vandagriff’s writing. I literally could not tear my eyes away from my ereader as I devoured this book. I have read other books by this author and loved them all. I was very confident that I would find this to be a clean regency romance which it was. Her characters diverse and realistic. I loved Hélène and …
A good read.
Loved this book !!
A great twist on haughty aristocrat being knocked down a few pegs by a woman thought to be beneath him – a feminist bluestocking. I enjoyed the change in both of them when they took the time to get to know each other. Also had an exciting twist that I never saw coming that ended in a well deserved happy ending. Good story-telling.

Good basic story. Needed to be filled out more.
Not much. Pretty far fetched
It is always a pleasure to read this author’s books. Her characters are interesting and well thought out, as are the plots. She feels no need to include graphic sex, but still manages to convey strong romantic feelings. If you enjoy thinking while you read an enjoyable book, try this author. Don’t be put off by the rather old fashioned cover, …
