Ben Martindale needs cutting down to size… the comedy jackpot.
Amy Blaine is used to being underestimated because of her appearance. But she knows the dedication it takes to run her own business and to have survived a difficult childhood. She doesn’t need anyone to validate her choices. When she first meets Ben, all she sees is a rich Englishman looking for someone to ridicule, but before long he’s convinced her differently, barraging her with a charm offensive that’s impossible to resist.
Ben begins to fill his weekly London column with snarky observations about Amy’s house, style, troubled family members and dramatic employees. It doesn’t occur to him that Amy, who is slowly letting her guard down for the first time in her adult life, might just be a little bit upset when she finds out…

This is a well written book with strong characters and an interesting story line. The author does a great job building the story and their relationship and moves it at a steady pace. She brings drama and a ton of emotions as the story unfolds. I enjoyed and would recommend reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Copy received for relaunch of title.
I adored the bits we got of Amy in her sister’s book, Fly In Fly Out, and I immediately fell in love with her in The Barbershop Girl.
I love her style, her grace under pressure and her heart.
Ben, Ben, Ben. I love him, then I loathe him, then I love him again. Well, really only hated him for a little bit, but knew what he was doing so I knew I was going to hate him eventually.
I could picture lovely Amy in all her pin up style glory, and she made me smile.
Now, Jo on the other hand, I hated the way she talked down to and treated her sister when she didn’t know all the facts. I know we all fight with our siblings, but sheesh lol. I could understand both sides of the story though.
A fun, enjoyable read, and I look forward to reading more of Evie Snow’s stories.
This is not only a love story but a live story. You will fall in love with Amy, just like Ben because she is unique. But will it be enough for Ben to open up pe his heart and really love someone? CAn Amy and Her ground for once in her life and fight for herself? An emotional rollercoaster, a great story.
I loved Amy’s story! Amy is Jo’s little sister, she is a gentle soul who models herself after 50’s pinups. She is a hairdresser/barber who owns her own shop. When she meets Ben, a British comic with a sharp and sarcastic wit, sparks fly. He uses their interactions as material for his columns, she is clueless about any of it and blindly feeds his need. Ben falls for Amy as he learns more about her and her quirks and ways. Amy learns to trust him and falls for him too. This story deals with past hurts, bullies, alcoholism and other real life struggles, but they are dealt with very well. I can’t wait for more in the series! Are we going to get Scott’s story? I hope so!
I loved this book! The characters are modern, realistic and I wish I could meet them. The plot is fresh and engaging even while it deals with themes of stalking, domestic violence and alcohol abuse. It’s not a dark read; rather it shows how, no matter where you came from or what you’ve gone through, life can be wonderful.
I was lucky enough to read an Advance Reader Copy of this book and can highly recommend it to you, along with the two previous books of the trilogy.
