Note to Self –Do NOT bang your best guy friend in the limo on the way to the swanky Vegas hotel. I give myself very good advice. Too bad I suck at taking it. If only Colin and I hadn’t drunk so much whiskey, if only I’d kept that red bikini in my suitcase, if only his evil ex-girlfriend hadn’t come sniffing around making me feel territorial and protective. Not that my bad boy rock star best … that my bad boy rock star best friend is any help. Walking around looking ridiculously sexy, telling me I’m perfect in that panty-melting voice of his when we both swore we’d never do anything to put our friendship at risk. And Colin never breaks a promise.
But then, he has no idea I’ve secretly been in love with him for years.
I guess I should just enjoy the ride, but I can’t stop thinking about what happens when this vacation ends and I head home alone, nursing one hell of a bangover…
The Bangover is a red-hot, laugh out loud rom-com featuring two best friends on a collision course with Vegas-flavored disaster–and each other. It stands alone. No cheating or cliffhangers.

This story is about two friend of the opposite sex, who have been bestfriends since school before they where both famous
“I’m asking for it, giving heartbreak a handwritten invitation, but I can’t seem to help myself. Colin is gravity, a law of nature I can’t escape and wouldn’t want to.”
Hangover is an easy book to read, with quirky characters who’ll leave a smile on your face. A best friends turned to lovers trope and although it’s a rom-com it’s not a book that’ll have you rolling around laughing. Add some mystery into the mix, but unfortunately Ms Valente left a few clues that gave it away at the beginning. So when it was revealed I thought are the characters so inane, they couldn’t see what I could.
Col and Kirby have been besties since high school, a rockstar and an author who chat for hours several times week. With the tour over Col is back in his hometown enjoying some downtime with Kirby and his friends. With an album to write and no creativity in his tank, Col is sworn off sex. Kirby has had a long dry spell since breaking up with her boyfriend. After too much whiskey, a kiss that has your toes curling they make a deal to go to Vegas as long as she can take “Murder.” A black cat with a personality of his own, who likes to go in for the kill if he doesn’t like you or your actions. Kirby gets a little possessive when Col’s ex shows up trying to patch up their relationship. She gets an up close and personal tour of how invasive life can be when you are a famous rockstar.
My first book from this author and I can’t wait for the next, and the one after that, and the one after that! Ms Valente pens the most delightfully quirky characters. The dialogue is fresh and moves the story along at a brisk pace. I loved Colin and Kirby’s story and cannot wait for Bridget and Shep to charm me all over again. I’m a fan!
A mysterious, intriguing, silly and entertaining friends to lovers romance. Colin and Kirby are cute together. I liked this story.
Loved Colin and Kirby. They were hilarious. As only friends who have known each other for so long can be. They have their own weird quirks and jokes and they love each other on a fundamental level. But obviously their is definitely more than platonic feelings for them to be this easy to fall into benefits. Loved the story and all the weird jokes and cat convos.
I really liked this book. The two MCs really were friends that turned into more. I enjoyed easy way they moved into more. I loved the fact that although the H was a rock star, it wasn’t all he was. Same with the h, she was an author, but that wasn’t all she was. And can we please talk about the mirrored room scene?!! Whoa!!
Such a fun book! I think my favorite trope is the friends to lovers trope because I truly believe that friendship makes the relationship stronger. And well, you won’t find a stronger friendship that Colin and Kirby. I adored their back and forth although some of it felt a little forced- as if the author, Lili Valente was trying a little too Hard to throw obstacles in their way. But overall, I liked the flow, the concern about the impact of a relationship in friendship, the effect of their friendship and more on their other relationships, and their overall respect and love for each other. The story was written to quite clearly demonstrate the characters love and respect for each other. Plenty of laughs. Some suspense and just a lot of feel good stuff! Very fun!
What a hilarious, sexy and thrilling start to the Bangover series. Colin and Kirby have been best friends since high school. Colin is now the frontman of a rock band and Kirby is a successful horror writer. Colin needs to write some songs for the next album and is having no luck. So he decides to take Kirby on a wild vacation to vegas. He figures he can get some partying out of his system and then come home and live in seclusion until he is finished writing. Sounds like a good plan right? When they get there, they soon decide to act on the sexual chemistry that has always been smoldering between them. They have a night of fiery passion but then the crazy adventures really begin. It becomes so hilarious and exciting with the sudden appearance of jealous ex’s, drones, crazy clowns, and so much more, that all get in the way of their time alone together.
Jason Clarke, and Lili Valente were amazing at bringing this story and these characters to life, making me laugh, swoon and cheer for Colin and Kirby to have their HEA.
I had fun listening to this fast paced, exciting, hilarious, and steamy story to life!
Colin and Kirby are best friends who have denied their attraction for a long time. One night everything changes. This book is an excellent rock star/best friend romance. I appreciated how the trust they had in each other translated to fantastic heat in the bedroom. There are some elements of suspense tied together with the comedy and I loved the book. Feelings, humor, heat, action: this book is a must read.
This is a fun, steamy RomCom. Lili Valente brings her usual humor to a new series. Kirby and Colin have been best friends since High School. Colin is now a rock star and Kirby is a best selling Fantasy/paranormal book author. Colin is trying to write songs for his next album, but has writers block, so he has decided to be celibate until he finishes his songs. Problem is, he and Kirby get a bit tipsy, and Kirby suggests that they add some benefits to their friendship. When she wakes up in first class on a plane to Vegas, she has second thoughts about the Friends One Week Bangapalooza. Colin makes some very persuasive arguments, and Kirby agrees. Throw in crazy stalkers/exes, and you have an enjoyable start to a new series.
The Bangover by Lili Valente is a contemporary, friends-with-benefits-to-lovers romantic comedy with a touch of mystery/suspense. It’s told in first person, dual POV.
Rock star, Colin, and horror novelist, Kirby, are life-long best friends who decide to temporarily enjoy “benefits” while on vacation in Vegas. A temperamental cat named Murder, crazy fans, and obsessed exes, lead to a series of unfortunate events that take the reader on a wild roller coaster ride.
This story was so much fun! It was hot, hilariously witty, and full of unexpected suspense. I read this in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great continuation from Friends with Bang-ifits. Friends to Lovers story. Colin and Kirby have been best friends for forever. It doesn’t matter that he’s a rock star or she’s a mystery writer. They no how to take care of each other and do what needs to be done except tell each other how they really feel. That’s when the fun and chaos of the Exes starts. Great love story with strange laugh out loud moments.
Hilariously funny, seriously hot and too freaking sweet on top of that! Kirby and Colin’s friends to lovers story is one of the best I’ve read. I adore the fact that Kirby is basically a blonde “Wednesday Adams“ horror writing almost-recluse…totally not a profession used in many romance books. And while I like rock star romance, I’m glad everything with Colin didn’t center on his career and being in the road.
5 star happiness, perfect for a lazy Sunday morning. Can’t wait to read the next book!
This book has a lot of action for being a rom com. This is a best friends to lovers romance with some ex’s shenanigans. He’s a rock star back in his hometown to do some song writing. She’s a horror book author who recently started receiving some threatening mail. Fans upset with her about how she ended her latest series. Both needing a break from their world, they head to Vegas… and we all know what happens in Vegas. 😉 Of course things don’t go as planned from the moment they reach their hotel and find a unwanted surprise visitor. Once the adventure starts though, it doesn’t let up until the end. The one thing that separates this friends to lovers from most others is the fact that the couple don’t draw out the “Should I, shouldn’t I?” or the “If we do this, will it ruin our friendship?” things that usually prolongs the romance. There is some of that, but it’s more of an afterthought. There is no bad break up between them, thus no grand gesture to win the other back, but they have enough other outside influences threatening their newfound relationship to keep things interesting. Both characters are strong and confident in their own way, and both have vulnerabilities. Despite some of the things they are going through during the book, it is a light-hearted read full of humor. (Some of the humor is the roll your eyes at it kind because of it’s silliness.) It alternates between POVs. There is some sexual content and some mild violence.
I absolutely loved this!
A best friends to lovers with all the feels I need.
It was entertaining, it was sexy AF, and it was fun!
The audiobook was excellent!! The narrators were perfect!
Still fanning myself down after this entertaining friends to lovers read. Talk about a crazy ride. You have laughter, sex, crazy exes and Vegas to dazzle you through this story.
Best friends Colin and Kirby love each other. It is blatantly obvious to everyone around them but them until a drunken spontaneous decision to take their friendship a little farther opens both their eyes. The only problem is a couple of crazy exes standing in the way. This story is so cute and hilarious with a great HEA.
Fantastic story! It was so intense, it’s hard to take a break from reading, and I loved, loved, loved the ending!
The Bangover by Lili Valente is a standalone best friends to lovers contemporary romance told in dual POV between the hot rock star Colin and the quirky horror novelist, Kirby. A clandestine meeting of two intoxicated pranking best friends leads to a drunken trip to Vegas in first class and a lot of kissing between two people who have never crossed that line before. Add in a cat named Murder, a busty psychotic ex-girlfriend, some crazy fans and some crazy hot sex and this story will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering just what else could possible go wrong to keep Kirby and her best-friend/love Colin apart.
Well-written and well-paced and absolutely, wonderfully convoluted – this story is funny, crazy, and a complete embodiment of everything you come to expect from the two main characters. A story with enough depth to make you care what happens to the characters and enough humor to make you enjoy the shenanigans and enough heat to definitely qualify as a steamy romance. Every reason Lili is one of my absolute favorite authors! Enjoy!
I really enjoyed The Bangover by Lili Valente. This book about Colin and Kirby is one of her best books yet! It’s not only a romantic comedy, it’s also a great romantic suspense, and I loved the ending! Thank you, Lili, once again for another really great book. I always know that I will enjoy your books!
