“Each installment of this compilation will tantalize and terrify you. An absolute must read!” Kerrigan ByrneInternational bestselling author of the Victorian Rebels Series The Banes of Lake’s Crossing – Origins The Biggest Little City in the World was founded on a lie. History tells us that the city called Reno, Nevada, was founded as a gambling haven for silver miners and later the divorce … and later the divorce capital. But it goes deeper than that. It goes as deep as the lines from which the silver came. In 1860, four brothers tunneled beneath the surface, looking to find the next Comstock Lode. They left their families behind in search of the valuable metals being brought forth from the Earth in order to do the Lord’s work.
Legend has it that the four men who went down into the Earth as good, solid Christian men returned as something more sinister, their good intentions abandoned. They became possessed by a force more evil than could be imagined, and their hold on the residents of what was known then as Lake’s Crossing allowed them to gain unfathomable powers.

In 1861, Myron Lake purchased the primitive log-constructed settlement and bridge crossing the Truckee River , and thanks to some investors this allowed for the establishment of many successful businesses in the area. No one was quite sure how Lake managed to run them all but there were rumors, especially about his four investors.
Legend has it that four men went down into the Earth as good, solid Christian men—and returned as something very different…..
Now, three generations later Byron Manwaring has come some distance to Weller House Inn to speak with Joe Bane. He wanted his grandmother’s brooch bridal bouquet back for his sisters upcoming wedding. The old recluse has refused to return the family heirloom over the years. The bouquet was made up of pieces of silver jewelry collected by women in the Manwaring family for generations. When Byron’s grandfather lost the Weller House Inn to Bane, the bouquet was lost to them. He had a really creepy feeling come over him as his fight-or-flight reflex was triggered and every cell shouted at him to flee, but he stood his ground as Joe said “Listen, kid, if you know what’s good for you, you’ll just leave and forget all about the damned bouquet. It is never leaving here again “ (again?)…. but Byron wanted to know why.
Joe said, “If I tell you, it will put your family in danger.” And his eyes, his voice ….. but Byron stood his ground asking again, “why?”…. back and forth until Joe said, “Because it never should have existed in the first place!”
“Tell. Me. Why.” And those three words would change the course of his life forever as Joe tells
Byron the story of The Comstock Lode – Nevada Territory 1860
Lionel (25), William (23), Nathaniel (20), and Jonah (16) were on a mission from God. Find the precious metals and use the bountiful wealth to build a new house of worship and settlement outside Virginia City, Nevada Territory…. the Comstock Lode was sensational news across the country, but God had spoken to Lionel Call, directing the brothers to set up their claim twenty miles away. So they did. They worked their way to the silver alright but that’s not all that was waiting for them……On a chilly fall morning in 1860 four brothers tunneled beneath the ground looking for silver in Las Vegas, Nevada and were never seen again.
This remarkable story held me right up to the last word. I’m going directly onto the next book. I just have to know what happens next.
