Her one consolation is continuing her grandmother’s legacy by running Bea’s Bakery.
When Anna’s long-term boyfriend decides to move across the country without her, she is forced to face an uncertain future. After a long night in the bakery with her best friend, Lily, Anna’s humdrum existence rockets out of control when she follows a mysterious recipe left behind by her grandmother and finds Elijah—a handsome stranger—baking donuts in her kitchen the next morning. Soon Anna is living in a world where she must deal with the repercussions of Elijah’s unexpected existence, while trying not to fall in love with “the dough boy.”
Brimming with humor, sweet romance, and a sprinkling of magic, The Baker’s Man is an irresistible tale of friendship, forgiveness, and the enchanting possibilities of following one’s heart.

The Baker’s Man
by Jennifer Moorman
The Baker’s Man is the story of Anna, a young woman who moved back to her hometown to take over her grandmother’s bakery when she died. While Anna returned home because she wanted to make her grandmother proud and carry on her legacy, she also did so out of guilt from her mother and obligation to the townspeople.
After a particularly bad date with her boyfriend Baron, Anna has a girls night in with one of her best friends Lily. During this rum fueled evening, Anna tells Lily the story about how her grandmother “made” her grandfather. After more discussion and much convincing from Lily, Anna agrees to make the recipe from the story thinking that it was just that, a story. After calling it a night, Anna wakes up, meets Eli. From there, the unbelievable journey begins and we are taken on a roller coaster ride of events and emotions that will leave the reader diving head first. The story gets to a point where you will think you know how it is going to end. In that moment, it takes an unexpected dark turn before coming back to the light and building up all over again.
It has been a long time since, after reading a book, my first instinct was to rate it five stars but, I throughly enjoyed this story in a very unexpected way. I chose to read and subsequently review this books simply because it sounded interesting, and somehow, different from what I have been reading. I was right in that thinking.
I found most of the characters relatable in some some way and was able to empathize with each of them at some point in the story. The only true exception is Tessa. She was a well written character and had a few “good” moments but overall, I just really did not like her. However, the author does an amazing job of painting a picture not only of Mystic Water and it’s surrounding towns, but also of the people that reside there. Because Anna describes almost everything in flavors, we can smell and, in some situations, taste what she is seeing and feeling. Add that to the author’s ability to write in such a way that we get lost, not only in the moment but, in the story completely. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book courtesy of Voracious Readers and the author Jennifer Moorman in exchange for my honest review.
Keeps you guessing all the way through.
Loved the writing and the magic.
The doughboy aspect.
A very good. I can’t stop turning the pages. Very cute plot and idea.
A little silly but a fast read. A good beach book.
This is a marvelous read. The writing is brilliant and sharp, the descriptions lush, and the characters vibrant. Moorman’s writing is as scrumptious as Anna’s bakery treats. This book will make you hungry, for sweets and for more of Moorman’s writing. I look forward to reading more of this extremely talented author’s work.
