A Kitchen Witch with a bite, a King of Hell on a mission, and a candy coated town hiding bitter secrets. Josie Benoit, gourmet patissier and kitchen witch, may not be a Sweet Pea native but she’s made the small town her home and she intends on keeping it that way. When trouble rolls into town on the seats of shining motorcycles, and the safety of her home and her own reputation are put at risk, … are put at risk, Josie bands together with her coven to protect her world from a dark influence.
If only that dark influence wasn’t so deliciously handsome.
King Beleth is not a demon to be trifled with.
Leader of the Hell’s Bells MC and one of the great warlords of the Bowels, Beleth takes pride in his work and has the patience of a… man who knows what is best is worth waiting for. Known as Bell—to his friends, which you are not—he’s come to Sweet Pea to dismantle the core of good at the heart of the little town. But upon arrival he discovers three things that might just get in the way of his work:
Sweet Pea is more disgustingly adorable than they were warned.
The town has a coven of witches protecting it.
He’s developing a sweet tooth.

The Baker’s Guide to Risky Rituals by Kathryn Moon is an amazing story that I had the privilege to read. This is book number one in this amazing start to a brand new series that I have absolutely fell in love with. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about witches, demons, romantic suspense, mysteries and paranormal romance.

This was a wonderful book. It didn’t seem rushed. This was sweet and steamy, full of romance and passion with great characters that were interesting enough to draw you in. Now the bikers are coming to destroy there town but the witches will fight.
I loved Kathryn Moon’s newest story! Sweet Pea is a slice of heaven on Earth. It’s a small, strong community, but it’s not all perfection. When dead bodies start to turn up, Josie, the kitchen witch, and her coven step up to take back their town. But who’s the killer? One of the beautiful, bad boys of Hell’s Bells MC? One of the townspeople? One of her own? As magic is gathered and lines are crossed, the ending is a beauty with promises of more to come. This story a fun, fast paced mystery with enough steamy romance to make my heart happy. The characters are unique, interesting, and will have you rooting for them out of the gate! It was a riveting read with a beautiful home and family feeling that will have me back in Sweet Pea the second book 2 gets here!
The Baker’s Guide to Risky Rituals is the first book in this newest series from the author. I admit, I’m a huge fan of this author’s writing style. I love that her stories never fails to fascinate me and this book fits the bill. This is a contemporary, MC romance with paranormal twist. Now, with that trope alone plus that blurb, I just know that I’m going to be in for a treat (pun intended).
Told in third person’s POV, I confess that I struggled just a little bit as this was not my usual way of reading but nonetheless, it doesn’t affect my love for this book. First, I love the diversity of the characters in this story, as you will know upon reading it. I loved that it showed on the New Orleans rich culture through Josie. Also, the slow build of romance between a good witch and a demon will sure to spark your interest. Although they may have a different stand, good versus evil and all that jazz, they are now in the middle of mysterious murders happening around this goody little town.
The author has again weaved a deliciously crafted world of paranormal goodness with a side of romantic suspense, and mysterious individuals. You know the saying: light doesn’t always equate good, and darkness doesn’t always equate evil. With the way things ended (and no, it’s not a cliffy), I need to know what will happen next.
I had so much fun being introduced to this new story! I seriously want a front row seat on the porch of an Air B & B in Sweet Pea! I can’t wait to get to know the characters and dive deeper into this new world. It’s funny, suspenseful, and as always a great job by Kathryn Moon!
They came on silver hogs to bring destruction to Sweet Pea demons kings with one thing on there mind but 4 witches stand in there way. Josie runs a local sweet shop she’s attracted the attention of the local new MC Demon biker club leader Bell she should ignore him and figure out how to get rid of him and his gang but Josie doesn’t always do what a good kitchen witch should. Bell needs to stay focused on his own bad deeds and stay away from the tempting kitchen witch Josie. But things will keep drawing them together there will be death, murder, danger, and magic good and bad and it looks like this is just the beginning of the sweet little town of Sweet Pea and its un angelic visitors.

When a cluster of demons comes to town, their aim is to subvert the small community and its inhabitants.
While the visit is not without love, death, betrayals and pain, many of the forces, demons, witch coven and others, seem to be changed.
What happens in this steamy and action filled saga?
What happens next?
Steamy exploration of self discovery and the arcane

This was a fun read once I got into it. I liked the girls and their coven and yeah I started getting into the guys too. I liked that Josie had her special people that Bell had no idea about and that once revealed, was something that had him taking a step back.
As it stands this book seems done at least with that couple even if it seems to be a HFN, but i’m certainly looking forward to the next episode in that heavenly town, as the bad boys try to corrupt it.

This cozy mystery will keep you turning the pages. This has a great mix a sweetness, steaminess, suspense, mystery, and murder. I love the leather, motorcycles, magic, and pumpkin spice. This is an incredible start to an amazing series that is built around a very magical world.
Y’all there is nothing that Kathryn will write that I won’t read. She creates these wonderful universes and stunning characters that leave me wanting more. Josie and Bell are the perfect introduction into the world of Sweet Pea, aka literal heaven on earth.
Sweet Pea is the picture perfect town. Neighbors stop on the street and actually talk to each other, if that tells you anything. King Beleth and his demon motorcycle gang roll into town hell bent (lol) on corrupting the sickeningly sweet town.
Josie is a kitchen witch, and along with her coven sisters vow to keep Sweet Pea safe from the incoming demons. But, the demons aren’t the only threat to the town.
*cue suspenseful music*
You HAVE to read this. Get your life together, grab this book, and settle in for another stupendous story from the amazing Kathryn Moon.
Well this book was just down right sweet with a touch of edgy. I enjoyed reading this book had some good laughs and had some mystery about the characters that drew you in. I cant wait to read more about the people, demons and the town. Fantastic read around!
Kathryn Moon First of, I’m a part of Kathryn’s fb group.
When Kathryn first mentioned she was writing a new series with “regular” couples I was curious and wary. Curious because it seems all she writes turns to gold, and wary because most of her other works are either rh or whimsical threesome (Command the Moon is still my favorite book of hers).
The start of the Sweet Pea Mysteries series does not disappoint. It’s different from her previous works, yes, but still has a Kathryn touch. Very well researched, quirky, magical, somewhat wicked, however what really got my attention and the main difference from her other works, this book is cute.
Cute little town, cute badass characters, cute world-building. From what she mentioned in the fb group, that was exactly the impression she wanted to pass. Even Imogen, with the aura of dubious darkness around her comes across as cute in her descriptions.
The mystery part is well developed and the reveal done at a right time, and still somewhat of a surprise, enough hints to piece things together, but by the time you actually do the reveal is upon you, it’s not dragged and you don’t want to shout at the characters “how are you not seeing this”?
Cozy mystery done right, because you don’t need to be all dark and not dark does not mean you can’t be cute.
5 stars for Kathryn’s new genre. Enough to know who’s writing it, but too different to not seem “just another book” by an author known for other genres.
The first chapter sets the tone for this amazing journey!
The writing is superb, you will feel the wind, smell the pastries and you can hear the small town gossip as if you were there!
These characters will suck you in and refuse to spit you out..believe me, you wont want to leave.
Bad boys have never read so good and the sassy heroines had me saying “HELL YEAH”!
Prepare for a sensory overload in the best possible way!
