A great cozy mystery. NC Lewis has a beautiful writing style.
Great start to a new series! In 1920’s England, Maggie leaves London to help her uncle with his new business. Once there, she must solve a murder and save his business. The plot is complex, multi-layered and filled with believable characters. It was a delightful read and I’m looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Maggie returns home to the village where she grew up to help her uncle start a new business. In that process, she finds a body that then leads to other things happening.
Never saw the who done it coming! Nice job.
Lots of unrest for the workers. Lord, Lady, titles, and the people who work for them. Nice addressing of social issues of the times.
Since this is the first in this new series by this author there seems to be a bit more character background and development to lay the foundation for the next books.
Historical stories are not my first go to type of book. (I read it because I like the author’s other books.) Keep that in mind when I say that I personally thought the story dragged on a little bit for me. However, I do want to read the next one because I want to to see what happens with Tristan’s Hands.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
