All credit cards have stopped working. Today. This morning. What cash you have in your wallet is it. ATMs and bank systems are down. You can’t get gas, groceries… Commerce has essentially come to a halt. Such is the backdrop of THE BACK DOOR MAN. Our society is computercentric. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. We’re plugged in. Managing our finances online. Downloading apps for our iPhone. Reading … our iPhone. Reading the WSJ on our Kindle.
There are things out there on the cutting edge we don’t even know we need to fear. THE BACK DOOR MAN takes us there.
We see it through the eyes of James Kolinsky, a simple family man who works in information security. His day goes from bad to worse when he discovers that his greatest fear is his fault and what’s happened to him has happened to millions of others.
He’s been set up. His family—make that the world—has been taken hostage. The next twenty-four hours we find out what James Kolinsky is really made of.
(THE BACK DOOR MAN is available in French as Hackeur et contre tous and in German as Der Mann an der Hintertür.)

Loved it. It’s so realistic, you can see it happening in real life.
One of the best books that I have read in a while! I ciuld hardly put it down!
Interesting and thought provoking premise. I would have given it five stars had any of the female characters been more than sex objects or mother figures.
Great read. Couldn’t put it down.
Awesome read. So full of action I could barely stand it! Great plot and characters. Author reels the reader in to a tech realistic world without using too much tech speak. Extremely well written.
Really enjoyed this book. A little too technical but fast paced and entertaining. Characters were likeable
I tried but it just took too long to get anywhere interesting. I finished with it but did not complete it.
Not a bad book, a bit predictable. I lost interest because parts of it went on too long.
What I didn’t expect in the lead character. I won’t spoil it . You need to read to find out. Not the typical good guys vs bad guys when the system goes down.
I enjoyed it. Realistic computer fears with regard to banking and credit practices. Happy ending was nice.
I enjoyed reading this book. I had a hard time not to stay up and read it all night. The character was smart, realistic and down to earth. I am going to be looking for another book by this author. David Buschi
Enjoyed the authors usage of simple plot–frame someone else for the crime to develop nonstop action. The cyber backdrop is interesting but not believable. I think the author endowed the main character with too much luck, smarts and fighting skills.
What would you do if you could not use your credit card, cell phone or an ATM?
The Back Door Man is a great read.
I am a person that learned about a computer on an Apple IIe so you know that this book is way more advanced than what I learned YEARS ago but I was still able to follow the computer speak—–through this book.
I shows what a …
Very interesting book about computers , how a wealthy group could manipulate them and drain all the money. You have to Finnish to find out what happens
In this digital time, this book is interesting, informative and entertaining. This author bears watching. J.S.
Loved this book. Very edge-of-your-seat. Good ending also.
A wake-up call to awareness in our current economic climate.
Great concept. Most of our money supply is electronic and lack of access has what kind of impact? Inside of that you have one guy set up be be the patsy in a large electronic theft. Only mistake is they underestimated the fall guy. Couldn’t put it down
Good read
I found this easy to read, topical and very life like.
