All credit cards have stopped working. Today. This morning. What cash you have in your wallet is it. ATMs and bank systems are down. You can’t get gas, groceries… Commerce has essentially come to a halt. Such is the backdrop of THE BACK DOOR MAN. Our society is computercentric. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. We’re plugged in. Managing our finances online. Downloading apps for our iPhone. Reading … our iPhone. Reading the WSJ on our Kindle.
There are things out there on the cutting edge we don’t even know we need to fear. THE BACK DOOR MAN takes us there.
We see it through the eyes of James Kolinsky, a simple family man who works in information security. His day goes from bad to worse when he discovers that his greatest fear is his fault and what’s happened to him has happened to millions of others.
He’s been set up. His family—make that the world—has been taken hostage. The next twenty-four hours we find out what James Kolinsky is really made of.
(THE BACK DOOR MAN is available in French as Hackeur et contre tous and in German as Der Mann an der Hintertür.)

I posted a review read that.
This is a pretty good read for those who are somewhat geeky. It contains a lot of computer jargon, so if that is not your interest you may want to pass. Otherwise it is a good, fast paced story of a group that basically wants to steal all of our money in one fell swoop. It is somewhat predictable, but the story is told well and is a quick read.
What if this really happened? Yikes! Way too bogged down with technical details which may or may not be accurate. Suddenly the book switches to the family situation. Two bad ass parents and one grandpa save the day for themselves and the world. Many situations are improbable. Plot points need development. Poor transitions. Would make a great kids …
This was crazy because I could actually see something like this happening.
Insightful, really makes one think about how our world works and what is possible.
Think your way out of the problem. very fun read,
The only downside is the author gets far too wordy in spots which stops the action/takes the reader out of the moment he’s built.
Otherwise it would have been 5-starts. I REALLY ENJOYED THE BOOK.
Mr Buschi is a gifted writer, the plot is NOT your ordinary thriller and watching the news these days you might think the author may also be a little …
Excellent writer, excellent story.
Great digital details
A great read! I was on the edge throughout the book waiting for the next thing to happen.
A slightly unusual character with a brilliant technological mind. There was a little more tech info than I needed, but the plot was interesting and I rooted for the guy to win. Worth reading!
I loved this book so much that I read it twice. I highly recommend it.
The main character was kind of cheesy and weak in the beginning–almost too unbelievable. It got better as the story developed.
Boring, read several chapters, nothing, no excitement, nothing to get you hooked to keep going, I dumped it. Couldn’t take anymore.
Really held my interest
Like EMP, this book deals with hacker hazards…in finance. Scary. After staying up all night to finish it, I vowed to start hoarding more cash.
A really good thriller. A little scary ; because, you could see how this could happen.
Could not put it down. Read it n several hours.
Fun Read!
too full of technical errors
