This is the 3rd Lili Valente book I’ve read and I definitely won’t be stopping now – it is a complete joy to read her work! I knew I wanted to read The Baby Maker when I saw a preview of it at the end of The V Card, so of course I jumped at the chance to review it! The story does sort of begin as if you’re in the middle of it, but I didn’t mind that so much. We meet cantankerous Dylan and his playboy brother Rafe and get introduced to their unusual family dynamic right off the bat. It helps you understand Dylan’s reticence to get involved with Emma despite their intense attraction to one another. I do wish that we got to learn more about Emma and Dylan – to better understand their individual commitment issues. We get a bit of a surface explanation, but I would have loved to get more about them. I also thought it was a little too easy for Dylan to get over his reluctance to help Emma with such a serious and life-changing matter. But it all worked out for the best and it was a fun and sexy ride along the way! I’m very excited to see Rafe’s story, The Trouble Maker, next especially since it appears as if they’re keeping it in the family! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.
Hot and Hilarious
I loved this one. I giggled and chuckled and laughed out loud throughout the entire book. The romance between Emma Haverford and Dylan Hunter was so sizzling, my fingers were burning just flipping the pages, not to mention my unmentionables.
However, in between the spicy scenes was some great character development, a good story about two people getting to know each other and falling in love and a lot of baby making innuendo and hilarious jokes. I have already put the next three books (Dylan’s brothers stories) on my to be read list.
I highly recommend this book. I loved the humor and the romance. Dylan turned out to be quite a sweet guy and a great boyfriend. I wish the other books were on KU, so I could read them rightly now, but I just spent my monthly allotment on books I wanted so I have to wait until I pay some actual bills.
Great light hearted read with sexy farmers…what more could you want?
Surprisingly sweet, sprinkled with great humor and some of the best banter The Baby Maker was such a fun read! I was pleasantly surprised by how much more this book is than I originally thought. It worked it’s way right into my heart from nearly the very first page and I was quickly in love with these characters and their story.
Dylan starts out as a jerk, granted a charming jerk, but very quickly those walls against Emma crumble and the true Dylan shines through. Not only is he insanely hot, he’s also got a huge heart and a fantastic sense of humor. More than once Emma and Dylan had me giggling and then just as quickly melting. These two were a perfectly balanced sweet and H. O. T. hot!
Dylan Hunter is a man possessed. He’s been running his family’s farm for years and he’s ready to move on, do his own thing and just… chill for once. There’s just one small, annoyingly tempting problem.
The plot of land next door to his farm is up for sale. He was going to buy it for his dad to appease him from losing his vineyards to disease and hops and chickens. Long story short. Grapes were bad and Dylan ripped them out and replaced them with barley to make hops, and beer. Or that’s his dream anyway. Now, he just sells his produce to others.
But, with that piece of land, his dad would be happy. Content. And Dylan could move on with his life.
So, what’s stopping him?
Well, it’s that little problem. She comes is a sexy, seductive body, cute smile and blonde curls and she wants that land too. She’s in a bidding war with him.
Emma Haverford, knew Dylan wanted the grape grove, but she needed it more. She was the winemaker after all. But, there was something else she wanted to make. And she needed Dylan’s help for that.
So, she offers him a deal. She’ll step back, if he’ll knock her up.
Dylan can’t believe Emma asked him to do that and that he’s tempted. Oh, so tempted.
Will he give in to temptation or will Emma’s bun remain uncooked?
Find out in this sweet, sexy rom-com and be prepared to swoon at how this gorgeous man gets his girl.
You can never go wrong with a Lili Valente story. This book was funny, romantic, entertaining, intriguing and beautifully written. Dylan and Emma have amazing chemistry that’s so steamy, fun but also sweet. They developed a wonderful friendship. There were some ups and downs or should I say some doubts but because of that amazing friendship they were able to grow together.
Ms. Valente sure does know how to write a story that puts a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.
Sex, lots of sex.
I’m barren. I say this cause I know just how hard it is to have endometriosis so, the whole doctor telling her to have babies soon is crap. The whole fertility thing is crap. It hurts not just on your monthly but also when you are fertile like physically hurts. If you have a bad case then they take a laser and slice off a layer of the extra cells just so you can function. It’s call a laparoscopy and, the surgery is painful but not as much as the disease. And a lot of the time the surgery is performed so women can have children. So research is a thing. And they have sex not a relationship. And in my opinion it’s not even good sex, too vanilla. So it’s a book about boring sex. That is also less realistic than a Lifetime movie.
I really enjoyed this story of Emma and Dylan. I’m very excited about the whole Hunter Brother series.
Emma and Dylan’s story was just the right amount of tense, sweet, struggle, surrender, and happily ever after.
The Baby Maker is a standalone novel by one of my all-time favorite authors, Lili Valente. I have read every single word she has written. I know once I open one of her books I will not want to put it down. That was definitely the case with Baby Maker. I wanted the next swoon moment. Their next laugh. Their next turn-on. I wanted it all.
A few months ago Emma moved to small town Merceyville from the craziness of Silicon Valley. Instead of being in front of the computer for seventy hours a week she was growing vines in Wine Country. Giving tours in her winery. Waking up early and cuddling on the couch at night with a good book. She was also admiring her sexy neighbor from afar and giving him shit from up close. He wanted some acreage from their neighbor. The same three she wanted. She wasn’t going to give in but then she thought of her dream. A dream that Dylan could help her achieve. A baby. A no-strings attached, sex only for sake of getting her pregnant business proposal. It was a crazy idea but it could work.
Dylan thought it was crazy. There was no way he could go through with it. But…it would fulfill two dreams for one. She would have her baby and Dylan would have the land he needs to go after his dream. Plus, three months of smoking hot sex with a woman that looked like a hot librarian that he wanted to shush him. He had his own amendment to the deal then it was time to get her knocked up. He could do this. His family had a reputation and it was time to use it. No problem.
Yes, problems! He liked her. Like, liked her liked her. It was suppose to be sex only but he wanted to wine and dine her. Picnic and devour her. This was not the plan. He was not suppose to fall. He didn’t know it but she was falling too…
I love these two! Dylan is swoon-worthy, sweet, and filthy-mouthed. He is also a man who would do anything for his family, neighbor, or even stranger. Emma is a strong, independent woman that knows exactly what she wants. She wants a baby even if she doesn’t have a prince to share it with. Will Dylan turn out to be that prince? Will there be a baby makes three family one day?
Overall…I loved, loved, loved it. The characters. The story. The sexiness. The laughter. The picnics. The love. The country. Plus, it was an added bonus that Santa Rosa, CA, my hometown and forever town was in the book along with surrounding ones. I am soooo looking forward to the next book, The Troublemaker. That’s the perfect name btw.

P.S. Lili, you rock at naming animals.
Quotes:
Emma Haverford, thorn in my side, salt in my wound, paper cut in my eye, has beaten me to coffee yet again.
I take her, claim her, prove to her that she can trust me to deliver, to ensure she never leaves my bed unsatisfied.
“You’re sure?” I tease as I back toward the door. “I’m down with fulfilling your toilet fantasies, baby. I’m a gentleman on the street, but I’ll be your freak on the can.” (Believe me, you will laugh)
What do winemaking, a woman with a condition that is lessening her chances of ever having a child and confirmed bachelor who takes care of everyone but himself have in common? More than you think! This was a sweet sexy read!
Loved this book! Great wording, characters and storyline!
Captivating and steamy- great read!
Didn’t like it
Awesome book, takes you right to the heart of the matter. When you least expect it, maybe are not even looking for it, it happens. Emma has left her stressful job to come to the wine country to grow grapes and make wine. She has everything her heart desires except for a child. In her late thirtys, she feels time is running out. She has heard the rumors and has a plan, now to get Dylan Hunter to go along with it. Dylan wants that bit of land, now there is a proposal he should resist, stay away from, and in no way agree to it. But there is something so special about Emma and resisting her is out. The plan is in place, no strings attachted. To bad their hearts are not in on the deal. following their journey from neighbors, to friends and lovers is amazing and being inside their heads, knowing how they feel made this book so great. I loved this book and seeing Dylan and Emma come together was the greatest HEA
Really enjoyed this fun book. Read in in 2 afternoons. Good times.
For me this book was just ok. The story was really by the numbers. First they hate each other then they love each other. There was no obstacles or issues for the couple. At one point an ex showed up and I was like ” ok here we go, here come some fireworks…” and then nothing. The character just left. Whatever. It’s a nice, slow, luke warm, basic read. HEA with no drama.
I like this book
