In Book One of this cozy mystery series, a morose parrot with a reputation for biting sums up Brookside Retirement Community for reluctant resident, Josephine Bartlett. But when Brookside turns out to be a setting for art theft, dodgy dealings, and naked poker, it becomes vastly more interesting. Josephine investigates the unusual goings on with friend and handwriting expert, Lill Fitzel. And the … the two befriend a young woman Josephine tries to prevent from making the same mistakes she has made.

Enjoyed the characters and the different twists in the story.
It’s a clever ploy on the title as turns out it is the naked truth not bodies that abound in this novel of lovable characters.
Set in an assisted living facility, you’d think it would be slow moving or worse, pokey! No. The characters are very much interested in the world around them and nosy about each other and many of them have secrets that can come out in the most unexpected and mysterious ways. If you like good stories with well-rounded, interesting characters with a different approach to the old mystery, you’ll like these books. I just finished the most recent and found it every bit as intriguing as the first book. I highly recommend if you want to read something without bad language, sex, violence or gore. Delightful, is the word I’d use to describe the series!
Too many phrases are repeated. Too predictable.
Rambling too much. Didn’t hold my interest.
The type of intrigue that is too rare: a NON-murder intrigue. And including older women heroines who are savvy and self-sufficient, interacting comfortably with, and having great relationships with good and bright people half their age.
I loved the characters. Different setting than the usual restaurant type cozy mystery. Shows older people to be clever and intelligent. I will read more books by this author
Sthis as just a fun relaxing read. I really liked the characters.
Enjoyed the plot and the characters. I wish her other books with the same setting were available for Nook.
I admit the title gave me the impression of a light, whimsical quick read. However, it was so much more. Great character development and story twists that are relatable and definitely worth thinking about. Kept my attention for the whole series and I am anxiously awaiting visiting my friends again in the next novel!
Whimsical, easy read and a cant put it down great read!!!
Great characters! Good story!
I really liked the characters in this series. Can’t wait for the next one.
I can’t wait to read the second book to see what the characters are up to!
Too slow
Once I became accustomed to having the first-person version from all the main characters, I really enjoyed this book! It is a unique way to approach a story and really worked well. And I laughed out loud more than once!
I enjoy senior women protagonists who are wise and gutsy, not treated as doddering.
This was a fun read and I am interested in reading other books by this author.
Silly and fun
This book is probably for older readers as it takes place in an assisted-living home with characters of “a certain age”. It was very interesting, at times funny and other times rather sad. Overall, an easy & interesting read.
