A story of doubts and fears conquered with love, patience and understanding. Love the characters even down to the menacing one. A strong willed woman and equally unexpected male of character with determination of rightness and honor. Justice is so sweet when it comes, “he” deserved all of it. Great atmosphere of the era. Well written to leave the reader with a positive outlook. The essential family rounds out this enjoyable story. Wanted more from the female escaping the menace. Yet a very good story.
Loved this book, full of love, passion, angst and heartache.
I really enjoyed this historical fiction. Lord Ambrose is trying to right the wrongs of his father. He meets to two very stubborn, independent sisters trying to protect their young siblings. I recommend this book to those who love historical romances.
I really like this author .
Loved the way the two main characters interact throughout the story. Also liked the two brothers reacting in each situation.
This book was entertaining enough…However,
It reads more like a bridge connecting two books rather than the love story of Ambrose and Primrose. In this book, we pick up the story of Ambrose from a previous book (The Resurrection of Lady Ramsleigh – which I recommend). He meets Prim, who has a history but doesn’t develop much after that, much like the other characters in this book except one. I suspect that character’s book is on the other side of the “bridge”.
I was disappointed by the abrupt ending. I wanted more of this book to be fleshed out. Ambrose and Primrose had the makings of a great couple – their names end with “rose”! (cute). They were also a good team against the villian. With his knowledge of society and her street smarts, they could have done exciting things!
I don’t believe the books in this series are described as standalone though some might enjoy reading out of order. For me, there is not enough closure from one book to the next so I suggest reading them in sequence if possible
Their scarred pasts equal a mutual understanding.
From the moment she set her eyes on him, Primrose Collier knew she was in deep trouble. She was not the reason he had come, and she never allow herself to succumb to the feelings he stirred.
From the moment he set his eyes on her, Cornelius Garrett, Lord Ambrose, knew he was in deep trouble. She was not the reason he had come, but she would become is future…hopefully.
Good, bad or boring, everyone has a past. As the lead characters in The Awakening of Lord Ambrose, Primrose and Cornelius act and make decisions based on their similarly scarred pasts. Only when they meet and share a mutual goal are they able to allow their pasts to guide but not hinder their relationship.
Chasity Bowlin is a very good writer, and her engrossing read has all the elements of an entertaining story with a happy ending.
Content 411: In addition to a light amount of (secular and religious) swearing, there is a moderately described sexually intimate scene.
Cornelius Garrett/Lord Ambrose has withdrawn from society to focus on finding the numerous illegitimate children his father sired. They are determined to stop Samford and set out on a journey fraught with danger and discovery. Prim awakened something in Cornelius he did not existed. – I loved this book. Cornelius is honorable, kind and loving. I enjoyed the relationship that he had with his half-brother, Nicholas. Prim is stubborn, independent, and protective of her older sister, younger half-sister and younger half-brother. They have a close bond that is enduring. Cornelius and Prim were attracted to each other immediately but didn’t want the other to know. This is an interesting story and a good romance
Not much happens for this couple. I felt just so so about the story. Wasn’t a whole lot to recommend. It ends on a happy note, but even that is ho hum.
Extremely Disappointing!
The Story was okay, could have been better. It’s kinda slow.
Primrose’s Character is understandable, albeit the Storyline just didn’t flow well. Cornelius, Lord Ambrose was a Wonderful Character.
There were to many Characters in this Story that I was unsure who’s Story the Book was about.
Kitty had been kidnapped & yet in the Story, she had yet to found by anyone who mattered. Her Story is left hanging. The Love between Primrose & Cornelius went so fast at the end, I was extremely Disappointed.
Enjoyable.
Enjoyed the characters
I liked the way class differences were handled. The way the mother’s lifestyle affected her daughters was addressed in a tasteful way.
The premise of this book at first seemed very unlikely but the author overcomes this with excellent characterization and a satisfying plot and conclusion.
I have enjoyed this entire series and can’t wait for more – stories for Hyacinth & Kitty?
Cornelius Garrett Lord Ambrose has pulled from society after killing a man, even though is was self defense & he was found innocent. He has spent his time searching for half siblings fathered by his immoral rake of a father who left a string of bastards to survive on their own. His search has led him to The Collier family; Hyacinth, Primrose, Lila & Rowan. Lila is Cornelius’ younger 1/2 sister & he wants to make up for his father’s negligence & offer her a better life.
Beautiful Primrose Collier is the daughter of a prostitute & even though living on the street, she has managed not be compromised & has no use for men. She fights any help that Ambrose offers & sparks fly between them. Murders, kidnapping, trust issues, love & marriage follow. The characters are wonderful & you get to revisit a couple of characters from previous books.
I highly recommend this book & the whole series to all historical romance readers.
Cornelius Garrett, Lord Ambrose lived his life trying to be as different from his father as possible. It didn’t stop him from landing in scandal though. He is now trying to find all the bastard siblings that his father left him, and see if he can build a family.
Miss Primrose Collier is the second daughter of a woman who believed that the next man was the right one. She has made a point of staying as far away from that sort of life as possible. The man who claims her younger sister as his half sister threatens to make her true nature surface.
This is a story of self discovery for our characters. Are they naughty like their parents, or good like they have worked so hard to be ???
This is a lot of fun, with an unexpected adventure. I desperately need to read “Kitty’s” story now.
An unexpected romance due to starting in a most unusual way! Cornelius, Lord Ambrose is on a mission that is really terrible. He is trying to make retribution to the illegitimate children his father sired. Can you image? He is such a gentle soul and when he comes across one, namely Lila, he finds her older sister Primrose one of the most gorgeous women he has ever seen. But she is very protective of her sister and does not trust men (can you blame her?). Finally he persuades them to move to his estate so he can take care of them and try to make up for what has been endured.
But fate steps in, as it often does, in the form of a blackguard of a neighbor who knows Primrose’s family, which will not do because they know some of his secrets. He sets out to make sure those are never verbally know. What does he kill her? Does he whisk her away?
Not to give any of the story away, it does end in a quick marriage but will it work out for Cornelius and Primrose?
Chasity Bowlin always writes a wonderful story that pulls you in and does not let go until the end. I love her descriptions and characters that make you feel invested in their lives. This can be read as a standalone, although part of a series, but you will want to read them all!!
Lord Ambrose is trying to find all of his siblings from his fathers affairs. Hoping to finally have a family that he has longed for. Withdrawn from society due to scandal has taken its toll on him. Primrose Collier is beautiful, and determined not to be like her mother but desperately trying to keep the family fed and a roof over their head. She also has a distrust of men. Lord Ambrose has come to meet his half sister Lila and makes Primrose an offer that could saver her family. Both Cornelius and Primrose are victims of their parents and damaged. Can they heal each other, help each other overcome. Such a sweet story and wonderful characters.
Lord Cornelius Ambrose is a rather staid, proper young lord. He’s learned through his father’s poor example and personal tragedy that society judges one with a harsh view. Primrose is a young woman and she and her siblings were raised with very little as a result of her mother’s failings. She too knows that not everyone has good intentions.
The two are thrown together by a link of familiarity that results in a situation fraught with intrigue and danger. Cornelius wishes to protect Prim and her siblings, and to do so involves action on his part. But will Prim agree? Can he truly keep her from harm? Can he keep her from his own ardent desire for her?
Another terrific tale in the Lost Lord series, and I enjoyed it very much! I simply must know what has happened to another character, Kitty, and am thrilled to read there will be a novella as this is the last book in this series. I recommend them all.
What an amazing gamble Lord Ambrose takes in the latest work of Chasity Bowlin. Deciding that he needs to find the illegitimate children that his late father had sired and left to try and survive; Lord Ambrose has removed himself from society. Cornelius is not prepared for all the complication he encounters in trying to rescue his half-sister, Lila and her siblings. Her older half- sister, Primrose is the most beautiful and proud woman, he has ever met. Even though they are on the brink of homelessness, because they have no money, she is determined to protect the family from her distrust of men. Secrets from the past and problems that they face together, make this a wonderful mystery and a budding romance adds more excitement as they try to bring this family together.
