You know those stories where the smart girl tutors the dumb jock? This isn’t it.Blair: What’s the probability of insulting the one guy on campus I need to help me pass statistics? If I knew, I wouldn’t be standing in front of Wes Reynolds begging him to tutor me.Basketball player, sexy, arrogant, always sleeping through class… these are the things I knew about him. What I didn’t know is that … about him. What I didn’t know is that he is a seriously smart jock.
Wes:
What’s the best way to get rid of the peppy and unrelenting girl that keeps asking me to tutor her? If I knew, I wouldn’t be staring at her tan legs and attempting to teach her statistics.
Sorority girl, fine as f**k, determined, ball buster… these are the things I knew about her. What I didn’t know is that she is all the things I didn’t realize I wanted or needed.
Or that one semester with her would change everything.

Sports romance, you know I love it, so I jumped at the opportunity to read and review this one (and it’s currently free on KU!)
We’ve seen nerdy girl tutor the star athlete time and time again (and still it never gets old) but what if the hot jock was also smart and he was the one tutoring the girl? Well, that’s exactly what happens here.
Blaire is flailing statistics and she needs this class to get into the MBA program she’s after. She just happens to notice the hot jock in the back row (the guy who’s always sleeping through class) got an “A,” so she goes after him wanting to know who his tutor is. Mistake #1, assuming he can’t pass on his own. After she finally pulls her foot out of her mouth and relentlessly pursues him to help her, he gives in. As the two get to know each other they realize there’s more here than just statistics in the form of basketball analogies, but Blair is semi hiding something and Wes may only have room in his heart for basketball, his first love.
I enjoyed the story, I enjoyed the characters. It started a little slow for me but by 20-25% in I was hooked. I wish there was just a little more emotion on behalf of both the characters, I wish the author would have been able to make me “feel” it a little more in their words and actions instead of just telling me, if that makes sense. Overall, I enjoyed it and will definitely check out the next standalone in the series!
He’s the smart jock, she’s the sorority girl in need of tutoring.
I liked the twist that’s it’s the jock who is tutoring the sorority, struggling in her college class. She got a D, he got an A while sleeping through it.
Blair has been studying with nothing to show for it.
Wes is hobbling around with a boot cast on his senior year of playing basketball. He’s bored but intrigued when Blair plays him for tutoring and wins.
She’s the full package, and he’s the whole package.
Recommend for a refreshing twist on a much used trope.
Great characters.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is my first book by Rebecca Jenshak and I definitely think this won’t be my last either.
This NA romance was sweet, but with conflict in just the right spots. Wes found in Blair someone to challenge him but support him in his endeavors all the while seeing beyond the jock & big man on college campus reputation he holds. Blair found in Wes someone who breaks the stereotype of misogynistic college jock with mush for brains, who is attracted to her both inside and out and sees the hard work she puts in while caring deeply about others succeeding in life.
I will definitely be reading the rest of the books in this series.
4.5 Fun & Steamy Stars!
I fell so hard for this hilarious, sweet and steamy romance! I wasn’t sure what to expect but this story was so refreshing, moving and funny. Blair and Wes had the most awkward beginning scenes. I just wanted to save poor Blair from putting her foot in her mouth! But it was the perfect start to the romance between the overworked Blair and the popular basketball nerd. I loved how Jenshak took her time building their relationship. Bringing in their friends who made this story even more fun but heartrending at times as well. Blair and Wes are so perfect together, balancing their strengths and vulnerabilities. I totally swooned over Wes and all his alpha protectiveness! This story was multifaceted and made my heart hurt at times. Narrators, Erin Mallon, and Jason Clarke were amazing as Blair and Wes. I easily felt all the fun, passion, heartbreak, and love these characters felt. I loved the chemistry between Clarke and Mallon and think they compliment each other so perfectly and I was easily lost to their storytelling.
What happens when you find out that your assumptions about someone aren’t correct? What happens when you have your life planned out and things change? What do you do? Read and find out.
Blair needs help in Stats class. Basketball star Wes Reynolds seems to skate by. So what’s a girl to do?
I loved this book!!!! Nerdy jocks are the new hotties!!!!
I’m not a big fan of college romance as I usually prefer the characters to be a little more grown up and mature. So this book was a great surprise. I loved everything about it. Wes and Blair, as well as all the supporting characters, were awesome. I loved it all!
What attracted me towards this book was the fact that Ms Jenshak didn’t give us the stereotypical dumb jock that only lived to stroke his ego or be self-absorbed until he got “the girl”. Another thing I was glad about was, to portray the male lead as smart, we didn’t have a dumb female lead so that he could shine. Add to that some super cute and funny scenes and characters that made you fall in love with their charms this book had it all.
Wes and Blaire are enjoyable characters and their friends are equally entertaining. However, towards the mid-end, the book fell flat and I was dragging myself to the finish. (This seems more like a “me” problem and less of the “book” problem.)
Overall, it is a good book and makes for a quick read.
2.5 – 3 Stars!
4.5 stars.
it was cute book
Great read!
Loved this book and purchased the whole series!
Love the spunkiness of Blair! Wes is swoon worthy. I’m a sucker for these types of romances.
College romance with a smart jock.
I absolutely loved this book! It was great to see stereotypes overturned, and the personality traits of the main characters viewed as wonderful gifts, not liabilities. It kept me reading until the wee hours, and I enjoyed every minute!
Strike one for the bad guys in this lovable, somewhat lovable story that may not be a story at all. Maybe nearer to real life than we would like to think. BUT! Very good read.
Too much of too much.
Loved it
I really enjoyed this book. It had great characters, lots of love, a good amount of heat and just the right amount of drama and angst.
Love stories about good jocks , they are so funny & unpredictable. Great characters.
