You know those stories where the smart girl tutors the dumb jock? This isn’t it.Blair: What’s the probability of insulting the one guy on campus I need to help me pass statistics? If I knew, I wouldn’t be standing in front of Wes Reynolds begging him to tutor me.Basketball player, sexy, arrogant, always sleeping through class… these are the things I knew about him. What I didn’t know is that … about him. What I didn’t know is that he is a seriously smart jock.
Wes:
What’s the best way to get rid of the peppy and unrelenting girl that keeps asking me to tutor her? If I knew, I wouldn’t be staring at her tan legs and attempting to teach her statistics.
Sorority girl, fine as f**k, determined, ball buster… these are the things I knew about her. What I didn’t know is that she is all the things I didn’t realize I wanted or needed.
Or that one semester with her would change everything.

This was my first book by this author and I could not put it down. Blair is a smart girl who seems who is very focused and gets good grades, although she is struggling with her Statics class. When she sees that basketball player Wes Reynolds got an A on his statics test, she decides to talk to him about help. One thing leads to another and then they quickly start spending a lot of time together. I loved that it was about basketball, I have not seen hardly any basketball romance books. This is one of those books you want to just keep reading to see what happens, I was tempted to peek ahead, but yet you do not want it to end. This story was fun, playful and sexy, while still including a lot of emotions. When there were sad moments, or even the few parts that made me angry, something else would happen that would heal the sadness and anger. If I had to pick one thing I did not like about the book it would be how often the f word was used. However, I loved the story line and all of the characters, I found myself thinking about the characters throughout the day when I wasn’t able to read! I am so glad this is the beginning of a series! I will anxiously be waiting and definitely be reading the next book and any other book in this series when they come out. Overall it was a great book!
The Assist is the first book by this author I have read, and I loved every minute. Some sports romance has the jock going to the smart girl for help, but this was some what the reverse. Wes was not only the jock, but a smart one as well, and Blair was the one who needed the help. It made for a nice change. I loved following their story and look forward to reading more by this author.
The Assist is the first book in Rebecca Jenshak’s brand new series Smart Jocks and I have got to say that I really enjoyed it. I am a huge college sports romance fan and I was super excited to get my hands on this story because it was a twist on the classic smart girl tutors the dumb jock. However, unlike those stories, this one brings readers some sexy and smart jocks!
This was a sweet and lovable read that captured my attention right from the beginning and kept it until the very end. Blair and Wes were such a cute couple and I loved their chemistry. I have to say that the character development was on point and I found myself falling in love with the author’s writing. Based on this book I already can’t wait for the next one in the series. These smart jocks are going to change the way readers recognize the traditional smart girl/dumb jock kind of story!
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..I noticed that there were a lot of five stars, I couldn’t understand why, not that the book was bad because it wasn’t just didn’t seem that worthy, why? So we meet Blair who is a smart sorority girl and she is go getter wanting to succeed for her and her best friend Gabby who was in an accident and now is scared and not really comfortable being out. Blair has a lot on her plate, failing working and being blackmailed by her scumbag ex. Her help ends up coming in the form of a hot smart Jock and they become more than friends but an accident changes things. Will Wes keep pushing her away? Will her scumbag ex pay for what he has done? I honestly am looking forward to a story about Gabby and Joel.
College-age romance has been one of my favorites for a long time, but I’m finding that it has me more drawn in and that there are more authors writing it and writing it well, especially lately. They don’t have to be nerd / jock attractions, but these seem to be really popular and fun to read. The best part about this series is that the hero happens to be both the nerd and the jock!
The Assist had me totally captivated from the get go. Wes and Blair are an unexpected match and I honestly wasn’t sure I liked either one of them in the beginning but knew I’d love their story. I can only aspire to the level of gumption that Blair has when she approaches Wes about how he’s passing their statistics class.
As always, some clearer communication between them could sort a lot of things out, but their story is intriguing to follow and some of the bumps in the road make them feel more real. I’m excited to follow this series and see the other supporting cast get their love stories!
This is my first book by this author and let’s say I’m impressed. Her writing is wonderful and the story was unique and fun. With basketball being my favorite sport, I am so glad to see someone giving us stories involved around it. We get lots of other sports related books but basketball is few and far between.
The characters are the type you automatically fall in love with. And not just the main characters, I loved the secondary characters as well and can’t wait to see where this series goes next. Great all around read!

I’ve loved The Assist so much I didn’t want to finish it and wait months for the second book in the Smart Jocks series to be released.
Blair needs a tutor to help with her statistic class and she surprisingly finds it in Wes, the basketball jock.
Wes and Blair are funny, smart, sexy and amazingly in tune with each other.I really enjoyed to read how their relationship starts as a friendship and naturally turns into something more.
First time I read something written by Rebecca Jenshack and her writing won me after few pages.I’m already looking forward to her next book.
If you love college stories,if you love jocks stories and if you love some basketball this is the book for you.Get it as soon as possible.
This is the first book that I have read from this author, and it will definitely not be my last.
This story is reversed from most nerd/jock stories I have read in the past, and I absolutely loved it!
Blair was such a go getter who always put her education first. She had goals, and she would do anything to see them happen.
Wes was a super smart jock who didn’t have time for anything other than basketball. He used this as an excuse, when in reality, he was constantly helping and putting all of this friends and teammates first.
These two were so cute together. From their first meeting and study sessions, I knew they were a match made in heaven.
As the story progressed, the twists and turns had me wanting to throttle certain characters, bu the aftermath had me loving Wes that much more.
This book was such a fantastic read and it will definitely be a book that I reread sometime in the near future.

A preppy, over-achieving, sorority girl meets a grumpy jock makes for one interesting and very funny story! I loved every single minute of this college love story. The female character Blair was so exuberant that you couldn’t help but fall in love with her and laugh as it affected the people around her, Wes being one of them. Speaking of Wes, what can I say other than WOW. What’s not to love about an athlete who is secretly very smart and wears glasses!! The way these two meet to the way they get to know one another was absolutely brilliant!
Rebecca Jenshak did an amazing job with this story, from the beginning to the end. You will fall in love with all the characters in this story just like I did. I can’t wait to read the next book in this Smart Jock Series!!! If you are reading this and still wondering if you should read the book, I say stop thinking and read it you will not regret it! Happy Reading!!
The Assist is my first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, this NA adult romance is a bit predictable with jock meets nerd, but it was still an enjoyable read. I like how in this novel, the nerd was the one who needed the tutoring from the smart basketball player, which is what deviates it a bit from the stereotypical jock – nerd formula.
Blair’s and Wes’ characters were well developed and likable. They had strong qualities and they had flaws, thus making them relatable. I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve. The secondary characters were very good as well. There were humorous scenes and witty banter as well as romance. NA adult novels are often iffy for me. I either find them too juvenile and boring or in this case, an enjoyable read that moves at a good pace with good characters. I would love for Gabby to get her own book as well as Z and Joel. The Assist is the first in the Smart Jock series and I am looking forward to reading her next book. I received this book as an ARC and I voluntarily leave this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
