The whole series is worth the read.
READ THIS BOOK FIRST!! I honestly don’t have the words strong enough to stress the importance of this.
I was given the advice from several people to read The Assassin’s Blade between Heir of Fire (book 3) and Queen of Shadows (book 4), and I could not possibly regret listening to that advice more.
I’m honestly shocked that no one suggested I read …
As usual Sarah J Maas broke my heart by killing Sam Cortland!
Book 0.1 – The Assassin and The Pirate Lord 3
The Assassin and The Pirate Lord is the first novella in The Assassins Blade book collection, which is a prequel to The Throne of Glass series.
This is the first book I have read by Sarah J. Maas after be recommended it. I wasn’t sure which one to start. But I thought I’ll give this one a go as I …
Sarah J. Maas was already my favorite author before this story collection, but these novellas made me completely fall in love with Celaena Sardothien’s complex character and understand her way more than the actual first book in the series did. What an amazing read. After this book, I couldn’t wait to read more about Celaena and what sorts of …
This entire series is amazing I spread through each book in a matter of days.
READ THIS BOOK BEFORE Empire of Storms!!! It will help so much. So many characters come up and their backstories are in this book. They’re fun and full of awesome teenager Celaena. Plus you’ll get a little bit of reading that has Sam <3
The structure – like a collection of related short stories – is different to what I’m used to. Protagonist has flaws she is almost on the cusp of realising, but never quite gets there. The effect is that it’s quite engaging and you really want to know what happens to her.
This was raw and brutal with moments of betrayal and heartbreak sprinkled through. This will leave you with both tears and a sense of pride in Celaena as she faces her future. Reminding herself who she is and that she won’t be afraid is the best gift that she’s ever received. We see her undergo so many changes of heart and thought. She has …
I hate reviewing novellas because the separate stories make it hard. Here goes nothing,
The Assassin and the Pirate Lord: I love that she and Sam freed the slaves.
The Assassin and the Healer: This story was ok. I didn’t think it was needed though.
The Assassin and the Desert: Try to read this so many times and kept stopping at Chapter 6 each …
It is not that entertaining in the point in which it just explains Celeana’s, Sam’s, and, Ansel’s past. It just pieces in a big puzzle.
This anthology of novellas give the backstory of Celaena Sardothien, Adarlan’s Assassin. Like all of Sarah J. Maas’ books, it’s very well written and well edited. To me, it reads like a full length novel. I wish I’d read it before I started the Throne of Glass series, but it can be enjoyed at any point during the series. Beware: it does get a …
i really enjoyed this prequel. it gives you insight on the main character as well as and the relationships she formed with people before the series starts
The Assassin and the Pirate Lord– I loved the action in this story! It felt like seeing an action movie unfold between the pages. I loved the intro to Sam, can’t wait to see his and Celaena’s relationship grow I also really enjoyed Rolfe, even though he was “the bad guy”. I wouldn’t mind seeing him again in the series.
The Assassin and the …
A GREAT BEGINNING TO AN AMAZING SERIES!!!
Awesome series! It’s a must read!
AMAZING! What am I getting myself into…?? I’m so happy I chose to read these prequel novellas before I started the series. I’m officially hooked, and although I find Celeana trying at times, she is an exquisite heroine who has a lot of growing to do and many demons to overcome. I’m so excited to read about her journey! Cried when Sam died, …
The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas recounts the tumultuous missions of trained assassin Celaena Sardothien, who often abandons her missions to fight slavery or tyranny within the volatile empire, resulting in her own set of troubles.
Book 1 (Throne of Glass) has a prequel, which I recommend you read first.
Recommended reading order: The …
Just couldn’t put this book down. I was right there with all the characters. Cheering them on, even wanted to some of them dead lol. Couldn’t wait to read the next in the series
This was a great collection of short stories that brings a depth to the Throne of Glass series.
