I’m not a fan of novellas because they can be annoying to get just for thirty pages. However, having all of them in one book is a fantastic idea and made this a great read. I didn’t read it before I started the series. I read it after book 3. So once i was well established in the series it was cool to do the prequels.
I cannot even start on how much I adore this book! The first page got me hooked to the entire series! The romance that Celaena and Sam had was unbelievable and I was really crying after both me and Celaena found out about what happened to Sam. I was so shocked on the ending and I really think that this book is the best book that I have read in a …
Ok, i will not lie this book will leave you in tears which is why i lovvvvve it!
From the moment I turned the first page I knew that I would not be able to set it down, and that turned out to be true.
I’m diving into the Throne of Glass series (rereading the first two and working my way through the rest), and I decided to start with The Assassin’s Blade, a collection of prequel novellas that was released after Throne of Glass had been published. I’m so glad I started where I did! These novellas should absolutely be read first. They provide a …

: The Assassin’s Blade
: Throne of Glass #0.1-#0.5
: Sarah J. Maas
: 4/5
This is my first dive into the world that is Throne of Glass and I liked this introduction a lot. There are five short stories/novellas that are bundled in this book. You do need to read them in …
When this year started, I made a goal to begin reading the Throne of Glass series. After consultation with other readers, I was informed to read this book first and I was glad I did. Each novella in the compilation have such an insight into Celaena and her character development before the events in Throne of Glass (which I read about five years …
0.1 The Pirate Lord:

What is Rolfe Pirate giving them, loving it.
0.2 The Assassin and the Healer
Yrnee meets Celaena and helps her out. Will Yrnee leave or stay in the slump.
0.3 The Assisan and the Desert
She’s now moved own and meets Ansel, who …
I love Sarah J Maas, and I enjoyed this series, but I think you really have to read this pretty early in the series. I read several Throne of Glass books and then read this one, and after so much character growth, going back to a younger protagonist and going backward on that growth really wasn’t enjoyable. She really got the whiny teenager down …
A collection of novellas and great way to get acquainted with the Throne of Glass’ series main character, Celaena. Lots of action and adventure, and you can actually the character growth and emotional maturing of the lead protagonist in the span of these five novellas.
What a beautiful and terrifying beginning. I can’t even with Sam’s death and Selena’s new beginning. I cried and I laughed and I cringed. Just a whirlwind of situations and experiences and I cannot wait to read the next book.
My goodness, what an amazing adventure!
So, I have been hearing about this series for a while now; how amazing and addictive it is. To be honest, I had put off reading it because I have a tremendously large reading list, and adding another series this large to it seemed silly.
I was dead wrong.
I got the box set for Christmas and because of …
I read this book after reading the first two original Throne of Glass books maybe that’s why I didn’t like it so much as the others. In Assassin’s Blade we go back to the time Celaena spent with Arobynn Hammel in the assassis’ guild, we see the story from the starting point when things are set in motion until the moment that those initial …
Read it.
‘Nuff said.
This book is a great fantasy read. I was hooked from the start and devoured every word. A great read, I really enjoyed it.
This collection of novellas is honestly just a full fledged book. I don’t think it can be called a collection of novellas because the events flow from one to the other, making references to the last. It is very much basically a book with small time jumps and a little bit of backstory on the novella(s) before it.
It was a little repetitive in the …
Loved getting the background stories about Celaena! Although, it did cause me to go back and re-read sections of the earlier books in the Throne of Glass series proper, to see how it all fit together. Not that I minded. :p For those who like more mature romance scenes, the romance in this book was pretty clean/low heat, which is more my style. One …
According to the internet, this is considered book zero and the author recommends us to read this before Throne of Glass. You can read this book in two ways though:
1) By the authors recommendation
2) Read it after Crown of Midnight (book 2)
But this book has to be read before Empire of Storms
(book 5).
Here is my rating for each of the five …
A collection of novellas that are a prequel to the Throne of Glass series. They feature the assassin Calaena Sardothian, and her adventures in the Assassin’s Guild. In them we get to meet her master Arobynn Hamel, and her first love Sam. We also get to see how she ended up a prisoner in the salt mines of Endovier.
Loved it! I miss the assassin …
