A kept secret. A life altered. A new journey. Ariane lived her life one book at a time. She would never have guessed those books were about to change everything. They led her to Orion.Tall, dark, with eyes only for her. The rest of the world ceased to exist when Orion was around. But during a fateful ash moon, he shifted into a wolf. Ari thought she was dreaming, but she’d recognize those eyes … dreaming, but she’d recognize those eyes anywhere.
Fiction became reality. Fantasy was actually history. And soon, Ari would learn her role in it.
A pack war was on the horizon, and she was the only one who could stop it.
Nothing would ever be as it once was, because Ariane was now part of the Avynwood Pack.

This book was amazing. I was glued to my kindle till the end and how it gutted me. I need to know what happens next. Hopefully we won’t have long to wait for the next installment.
The Ash Moon is the first in The Ariane Trilogy. This YA paranormal story has wonderful world building. Dare is so clever in her use of the book world to introduce all the characters to her heroine Ariane and bff Paige as well as us the readers. There isn’t a lot awkward get-to-know-you’s, because Ari has already read about them in her favorite author Lealla Raines’ books. That is so fresh! I’ve been to a few signings and I have to say I’m glad no author has invited me to meet her wolfpack after part! Ha! What if all the mythical creatures and legends I’ve been reading about were real. Wow! I’m not sure I could deal with werewolves, vampires and whatever else were going to meet in the next two books.
Ari is a sweet book nerd with a bit of grit. She’s smart a bit brave and thinks for herself. That will keep her live in the imminent pack war. Her hero/mate/cover model boyfriend Orion (Rion) is in full protection MINE mode from their first touch. What’s a wolf to do when he feels it in his blood? His good buddy Ford the vampire seems like comic relief but I’m guessing the funny covers some deep water.
I won’t give away the story but suffice it to say, YA or not the storytelling is superb. Dare has crafted a rich world with history and mythology that I feel fortune at to have read. I’m ready for the next two books to find out what happens next for Ari!
Michelle Dare is one of my favorite authors (I have a very short list of favorites). The reason she is is because she makes words flow so effortlessly off a page, that always have me captivated and reading for hours not realizing I’ve read that long! I’m not a fan of fantasy or paranormal books UNLESS they are written by her!!
Bray, Paige and Ariane scored tickets to go see their favorite author, Lealla. Once they meet her, get her autograph and pose for pictures Lealla invites them to a party at her house. At this party they meet some of the cover models and when Ari meets Orion, her world stops! He’s the most gorgeous specimen of a man she’s ever seen and he’s showing interest in her!!
When Orion ask her to dance and calls her “Little Mouse”, she can’t move! I totally understand! It’s at that point, that I, too, am mesmerized by him and under his spell the same as Ari!! Oh boy, I was a goner at that point!! But, what happens when she discovers Orion is way more than just a hot male cover model? Her world is about to get turned upside down!
This story had so many twists and turns! Poor Ari got way more than she bargained for with Orion. She’s was always fascinated with the paranormal world, but she never expected the road it would lead her down!
Awesome book!
This is the first book I’ve read by Michelle Dare and wow! The world she built within The Ash Moon was phenomenal. She had me entrances from beginning to end. I loved the characters, not sure who is my fave between Orion and Ford. They’re both so different and their personalities grab you and pull you in. You just want to know more about hers characters. Ford will have you laughing but Orion will have you swooning. There’s so much going on that you can’t help needing to know what’s coming next. Each turn of the page brings us something new and exciting. I really enjoyed reading about these characters and can’t wait to find out what is to come next in book two. Michelle Dare definitely has an eye for YA Paranormal Romance and has become one of my fave authors to read!
This author is one that i have found can be one you pick up to be able transport you away. I found this to be true also with this one. The nice part about this one is how a favorite passion is used to entice a reader inside. Ash has her books which will be the instrument that changes her path. Then there is Orion whom you discover many things about. Where a world opens up to swallow her up it would seem we have no choice but to follow because we too are part of it. Oh and some of my favorite things from paranormal is in this with breeds also. You will also find this is different still than what she writes as in she keeps her books fresh. Was devoured through this one so that when I turned the last page will look for the next one.
I so needed this PNR story right now and what an amazing, non stop ride it has been. This story ticks off so many boxes for me: shifters, strong women, hunky men and underneath a love story. Ariane (Ari) is just an average high school senior but within weeks, finds her world flipped on its axis. Orion (or Rion) knows that Ariane is his mate and he will do anything to protect her.
Ari and Rion, along with his friend Ford and her friend Paige forge a friendship or truce as they race to find out why Ari is suddenly thrust into the middle of a shifter war. I freaking loved this and cannot wait to read more!
This is a very enjoyable and enticing start to this trilogy. It was super east to get swept up into this complex and compelling story. The characters are very appealing and have good chemistry between them. The plot is very engaging and kept my full attention. I’m very excited to see where this all goes in book two.
Where to start with this one. Well, let me begin by saying take any preconception that this is a play on anything that is already out there, and throw them so far out the window and never think them again. I have been a HUGE fan of this author for many years and I adore her words. She gives anything from contemporary to fantasy and now some paranormal. With this paranormal book, you will be devouring it every second and every word and let it swallow you whole. The concept alone was utterly brilliant and it takes you on a unique ride of shifters, vampires and everything in the paranormal world!
I have to say Ari is one of my favorite characters that Dare has ever written. She is spunky and does not back down even though she likes to hide in the woodwork. Pretty much a don’t poke the bear with her or she will come at you, all guns blazing. Her bite is priceless. Especially when Orion enters the picture. Their pull is magnetic and you can feel that sizzle between them every time they are close. Like serious sparks coming off the pages. When she falls down the rabbit hole that is Orion’s life, my mind is blown at how it is all played out. How the mates work, how the packs work to even how the vampires play a role as well as other paranormal creatures. Orion is so fierce with Ari. He wants to love her and protect her. His need to keep her safe is a bit overwhelming for Ari but she sees where he is coming from. Then there is Ford. OMG, that vamp is the most priceless one ever. I laughed so hard at his antics as well as how he was protective of Ari and loyal to his friends.
Overall, this start to the series blew me away. I am still reeling from everything that you read in this one because there is a lot to absorb but the way Dare wrote it, it was so fluid that you didn’t realize how many pages you got through! I am so excited to see how this story plays out and how the war will happen but also how things will work out for Ari and Orion. I want to see how things play out for Ford as well as Wake. All I know, is Dare has gold on her hands with this series and I beg you to please read it if you love some YA PNR. It will be totally worth it and you will fall in love with these characters as much as I have already!
I loved this book. Does leave in a cliffhanger. But it was sooo good. There was a lot of action and I loved the characters. I can’t wait for the next one.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book ive read from this author and I really enjoyed it. I loved the way the characters and the world developed – the storyline is very interesting.

This is a terrific sci-fi read by Michelle Dare. It takes you to a place that no one thought existed and draws you into there world. I’m not usually a fan of this genre but this author captivated me with her great story telling. This is book 1 in the series and does contain a cliffhanger
Well I don’t really read YA books as a rule, a few here and there but I love Michelle Dare’s writing so I figured I would try. Ari is just a boring girl trying to get through high school with only a couple friends and her books. Ari and her friends Paige and Brayden are meeting Lealla Raines a paranormal author who invites them to a party at her house. When Ari is introduced to Orion, things right out of the fantasy stories she reads begin to happen in real life but Ari isn’t convinced that what she sees is real. As you go along with Ari and her friends there are some scary moments with humor thrown in, it’s a great escape for a little while. The only drawback is it ends in a cliffhanger and the new one isn’t out yet!
