“Splendid.” —People
“The perfect book for anyone who knows that compassion isn’t only for humans, and that the relationship between two souls who are meant for each other never really comes to an end. Every now and then I’m lucky enough to read a novel I can’t stop thinking about: this is one of them.” —Jodi Picoult
“It’s impossible not to love Enzo.” —Minneapolis Star Tribune
“This old soul of a dog has much to teach us about being human. I loved this book.” —Sara Gruen

I would recommend this book, to any and all readers, no matter their genre!
This book is excellent. It is worth your time to read.
I loved this book even though it had some sad parts. Every dog lover will love it.
I am late to the game in reading the phenomenal book. It sat on my TBR pile too long.
The premise of watching a family’ tragedies through the perspective of the family dog was amazing.
Amazing book. I cried too many times.
Poignant. Heartbreak and happiness
I’m not much on the whole “human life through a dog’s eyes” genre, but this one was done so well, showing a poignant and unique perspective on the human heart when it’s going through so much. I don’t know much about the history of racing, and am not much into sports, but the reason I love sports movies is because they use the sport as a vehicle to …
The Art of Racing in the Rain gives you a family’s life through a dog’s eyes. This novel is phenomenal. I devoured the authors whimsical and bitter-sweet prose. Rain is a tear-jerker that doesn’t over dramatize, but rather, gives you a sneak peek at what we all might sound like through fur babies unspeakable perspectives. Highly recommend!
Enzo, the dog, tells the story from his point of view looking back over his life. He lives with Denny, a race car driver who adopted him when he was a puppy, Denny’s wife Eve and their daughter Zoe. Enzo longs to be a human and knows that in his next life, he will be reincarnated as a man. He studies as much as he can in this life by watching TV …
I wanted to tell the world to leave the TV on a different channel every day for the dog.
I was utterly enthralled by this unusual story narrated by a dog. It’s funny, sad and beautifully written. I bought copies as gifts.
If you love racing and animals, and have one book to read, this is it.
Loved that it is written from the dogs point of view!
I loved the journey but not the final destination. What a great way to tell a story! I could definetly feel a close association with the star of the book, even though he is a dog. This would have gone down as one of my favorite books of all times, but the end just didnt do it for me. I will admit it is kind of creative, but not how I would have …
Enzo is a wise old soul.
I loved this book and the characters in it. You’ll shed a tear or too but you will root for Denny and his family all the way.
Race car driving as metaphor for life. Amazing. As the owner of an old dog, this book led me through a roller-coaster of emotions toward the ending (which I was dreading), but that actually left me elated. I’ve always wondered what my dog was thinking, now I know. If you have a dog, or love dogs, this is a must read. Brilliant!
This book was one of them sweetest ad most touching books I’ve read. Just get it 🙂
Life from a dogs view
I enjoyed this story. Enzo, narrates the story of his life. The difference here is that Enzo is a dog so along with telling the story of his life he tells the story of his owner, Denny’s life and the family they become. This journey has many ups and downs. Enzo’s telling of the story made me laugh and sometimes cry. This …
This story is told from the point of Enzo the dog. His owner, Denny Swift is a race car driver who is working to make it big. Enzo is there through Denny’s ups and downs with life, marriage, death, legal issues, custody battles, and finally making the biggest decision of his life. The book shows what it is like from a dog’s perspective – to …
Best book ever!!!
