A great story about Aroostine, a Lawyer, and her husband, Joe. Their lives become strange and weird when Aroostine moves to Washington D.C., to become a defense Lawyer. Scare times! Must read!!!!!!!!!!
It kept me on my toes.
Enjoyed, have bought the whole series.
New author for me. I was glued to its pages. Then I couldn’t wait to read more of Ms Miller. Keep them coming! Thanks
Enjoy series.
Interesting use of Native American culture in the main character as Aroostine tries to reconcile her birth culture with her adoptive, the conflicts and how she deal with them mix well with the murder mystery storyline.
This is safe for young readers, plenty of suspense as the plot develops. Older readers, if you are cynical you may have some problems as the plot develops. Patience is needed as the character development and background are built.
Aroostine is an Assistant U. S. Attorney and works in the Washington DC office, but not the big building. She is about to try her first case about a company that has already admitted to it’s guilt and paid a hefty fine. All Aroostine has to do is demonstrate that guilt, except that would implicate certain elements who have determined that they can use the software to strike deeper than the fine could ever hope to.
Aroostine must find a way to prove the guilt to a court headed by a judge who hates her boss and an enemy who can use the computer to change, erase, or even control devices. It gets pretty exciting as the suspense builds and Aroostine must save her husband and the mother of the software engineer who wrote the control program.
Now, the second story we learn more about Aroostine’s Native American heritage. She is of the Lenape tribe, and yes it is real, I looked it up. This one involves murder, embezzlement, and theft of government property. I actually liked the second story better than the first.
This review is already long so trust me, the second has more intrigue than the first and surprises as the story develops and attempts are made on her life.
Great main character and interesting background as Native American.
It did not go as you would have expected. Good mystery!
The protagonist in this series is a different kind of woman, and her observations were interesting. I liked the plot twists and then, the resolution.
Loved the characters.
Great books, great stories, really holds your interest
The only negative is that the plots are somewhat unrealistic, which detracts from an otherwise good read. The characters are good, the relationships are realistic, so if the basic plots and related details were more believable, I’d add a star. Having said that, I would read another in this series.
Aroostine Higgins is a fascinating character, a blend of modern day with traditional native american.
I’ve read several books in Ms Miller’s various series and like them all.
Enjoyed the glimpse into the struggle between modern life and ties to past.
Love the main charactor.
Very enjoyable with an element of surprise and action packed
Look forward to more books.
Clever book with twists and turns.
