Give up my life as a cop to rule over aliens? No way.
My life changed forever when my name was announced as mate to the Arcav King. Within just a few seconds, I was no longer a cop. Now, I’m expected to hand myself in and travel back to Arcavia with an alien I’ve never met.
I don’t think so.
Instead, I’m working with the resistance, fleeing with the help of other humans and fighting for … fleeing with the help of other humans and fighting for my autonomy.
If there’s one thing I know, it’s this: I’ll never give up my freedom for a seven-foot, horned alien. Even if his heated looks make my toes curl… and his low voice gives me goosebumps.
The Arcav King says his sanity is on the line. And he can’t understand how I can overlook the pleasure that awaits in my arms. Too bad, buddy. That doesn’t justify stealing my freedom forever.
Unfortunately, another species of aliens have become interested in Earth and its human inhabitants. Now, the Arcav may be the only ones who can keep my planet in one piece.
Can I stay on the run forever? Or will Varian convince me to take my place… at his side?
The Arcav King’s Mate is a full-length novel with zero instalove and no cliffhanger. Harlow is independent, feisty, and fighting for ownership of her life.
★Author’s note: This was previously published as two books: The Arcav King’s Mate and the Arcav King’s Obsession. Both books have now been combined into this edition.★
If you like hot aliens, kick-ass heroines, and steamy romance, you’ll love The Arcav King’s Mate, the first book in Hope Hart’s sci-fi romance series.

I started reading this author from her other series that came after this. Once I was caught up and was waiting for the new books to come out I decided to read these because they kept mentioning the Arcav race of aliens. At first the book was a slow burn for me and it truly was meant to be. But I didn’t like Varian at first, he’ll I didn’t like Harlow at first either because she was a walking contradiction. But that soon went out the window once the book really started to pick up. I gotta say this early on… her brother…. yeah that’s all I will say about that POS. I have a brother like that. So I was triggered lol. The characters were so amazing and their personalities made you want to delve deeply into their story and it’s not even their book! Lol so this gives me insane hope for the rest of the series. To be honest though, I am head over heals in love with the other series so I knew this one would be good too. I highly recommend this series and the other one. You can start with either and be okay. I loved Tom so much. There were so many cute and funny parts to this book. So many minute tiny details that Hope added that just brought out the world building and details of the story. LOVE, LOVE it! I can go on but you get my meaning. Read this! 5
As a feminist some of the story points frustrated and angered me
However the authors writing ability made me want to see where the story would go
I was expecting a bit more of fight a bit more “telling off” at certain points and the ending left me with a bad taste
The book is still a good read but be warned it won’t be as fulfilling as a woman who knows their history

This was truly an amazing book. The characters are well thought out and developed not to mention the incredible story and world building. This is a definite must read for any alien romance lover.
This is the first book in the series and is well written and developed. Varian is an alien king who takes one look at Harlow and decides he wants to have her as his mate The characters and the storyline are great.

I was hooked from the first page. Excellent writing and storytelling in this awesome adventure/scifi romance. Loved the characters. Varian and Harlow have a ton of chemistry. Every scene between them just sparkles. I can’t wait to read the other books in this fantastic series!
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
First let me state that I received an advanced reader copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! What a story. Harlow is one strong woman, but she’s no match for the Arcav King, Varian. This is an HEA, but with so much more going on. I can’t wait to read the next story. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up.
I appreciate that the plot structure goes beyond introduction, resistance and/or angsty part, climax, resolution. It very well details the entire (and timeframe-wise, more realistic) journey from the discovery that Harlow and Verian are mates to the point where they hit their HEA point. Harlow’s adventure in attempting to escape the Arcav in itself is thrilling. It is intimately detailed, showing all the grit the poor lady had to go through. The reader can easily infer that HAA, the organization helping her is a hate group based is ethnocentrism, but Harlow’s desperation, and frustration with the Arcav presence on Earth to begin with, let’s her accept their help without thought. But we also get to see how some of the members came to the group due to reasons beyond ethnocentrism; the Arcav are so desperate for the mates (whom they need in order to keep their sanity) that they will take a woman even if she is married or in a relationship and/or has children. No thought is given to the nuclear family that is left behind.
When all of Harlow’s hard work ends for nothing, she uses trade-offs with Verian to not only maneuver herself into a better position to escape, but also to change the rules for testing women on Earth, and ultimately, to giving women the choice. (And hey, maybe some day this might evolve towards choice plus getting the chance to know the guy and/or visit Arcavia before making the decision!)
Verian himself is sweet, but self-centered enough that he struggles to see things from Harlow’s perspective. Some of it is cultural, as he struggles to understand things from any human woman’s point of view. In attempts to win her over, he belittles her life, her struggles, her choices, and her accomplishments – and in the same breath praises her for being so remarkable for being able to evade and challenge him. His efforts to figure out where he is going wrong are genuine, but he is largely oblivious. This results in poor Harlow coming to appreciate Verian, yet still resenting him; indeed, she knows that had they met under other circumstances, it would have been a fairy tale romance. But instead, the situation pulls out all of her past insecurities and lack of choices.
Harlow’s presence isn’t the sole factor that shakes things up on Arcavia along with the perceptions of humans/females. A group of humans holds their own in an attack from the Arcav’s enemy species, and a female human bests the men when auditioning for a place on Harlow’s personal guard. Harlow’s group of human friends represent the heterogeneous nature of humanity. And they intend to properly mix in human culture with Arcavian culture. (Arcavian culture isn’t particularly different from anything one might find among earth’s cultures, but there is certainly room to develop this more.) On that note, Arcavian culture packs a shock for the humans when they display brutal methods of dismemberment for minor offenses, but also show very progressive attitudes in giving members of HAA the choice between imprisonment on earth, or starting a new life on Arcavia. The two cultures are set up to blend nicely!

New hope to the Arcav and the people of Earth!
by sewsummore
After the invasion of Earth by the Arcav, women were genetically tested to become mates of the Argav males. The Arcav had come to Earth in search of females to breed since a virus had robbed their warriors of mates. Harlow was a cop before she was matched with Varian, the Arcav King. When the notification came, Harlow refused to tamely accept her future and instead went into hiding hoping to escape her future. Her resistance was futile, and upon her capture, she soon found herself crown as Varian’s Queen. This was a book with a complicated storyline. The genetic testing mated perfect mates and Harlow fought her attraction to Varian at every turn, bargaining with the King to secure better choices for the women who had children and other concessions. The give and take of their relationship made absorbing reading and when Harlow finally accepts her new life, she brings new hope to the Arcav people and humans alike.

I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.
I loved this book. The story of the Arcav invasion and why they needed females from Earth has good flow and the chemistry between Harlow and Varian is off the charts. I love that Harlow’s character is strong and has strong morals and is willing to fight for her convictions, even though sometimes it breaks her heart. As in all good romances this story is fraught with misunderstandings that get in the way of their love, but in the end, they get their HEA. Action, adventure, betrayal and smokin’ hot alien mates! What more could you ask for? A great read!!!

This book is entertaining, filled with adventure and intrigue, the interaction and chemistry between the characters of Harlow and Varian is wonderful. I can’t wait for the next book From this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
If you like alien romances, you are going to love this book. Harlow a cop on earth is chosen as a mate for Varian, the Arcav king. She does not go quietly and is this awesome feisty, crafty, smart, amazingly strong woman that takes no nonsense from anyone including the king. Varian being her mate tries to protect her and keep her in a bubble, but Harlow does not want that nor will she do as she is told. She resorts to making deals with the king to protect and save other humans And get her own way while he gets her to behave, do what he needs and wants. The characters are well developed and thought out and I am excited to read the rest of the series.

This is one of those situations where I absolutely cannot blame any woman who chooses to reject the fate that someone has decided for her without any input from the woman whatsoever. Since the Arcav appeared, and with no more female babies being born on their planet, all human females must submit to a blood test for compatibility with an Arcav. If the lady matches up on the monthly drawing day, she is snatched up and taken away to produce children and keep her new mate happy. There is no appeal allowed. If chosen, the female must give up all rights as an independent, thinking woman and become property to be handed off to a new owner. Even if she is already married, it doesn’t matter – she becomes alien property and is taken from her human family.
Harlow Black is a cop who finds out, while at lunch with her partner, that she is compatible with the Arcav King Varian. Instead of being owned, she elected to run rather than humbly turn herself in for collection. Her partner is part of the resistance and their network takes steps to help her escape. Even if the alien is a good one and the life she is selected for may be more glamorous, it still takes away her choice and a strong woman such as Harlow could not accept such terms. Yes, he will certainly have to chase her and will have to earn the privilege of winning her heart the right way. In the meantime, another vicious alien species is headed for Earth. Can the King deal with them while trying to capture his runaway mate?
The author does a good job in the story line describing what it’s like to outrun an advanced alien race. It really pulls you into the story! Our attention is drawn to the things that a woman would have to give up, the total upset of her life, loss of friends and family. The characters are well-defined as the reader sees their personalities in coping with the adversity being faced. Harlow makes the King work for a relationship, but she gives it freely when he earns it!
The first book in the Arcav Alien Invasion series a well written story that held my interest until the end. I want to read more in this series. Human Harlow is a cop that has been told she is now the Arcav King Varian’s Mate which she does not want. There is suspense, drama, danger, attempted murder, traitors, and romance. These two will have alot to go through before they get to be together.
Since I loved the first version of this series when it came out, I signed to read and review the revised version. I enjoyed the story very much and I caught where it was changed as book one and two were combined. This action sci-fi about Harlow a cop who is chosen to be the King Varian mate. Harlow is not happy to be chosen so she runs and Varian chases her and catches her, then Harlow has to come to terms of being Queen when there are those against the union which makes this a page turner along with the steamy romance between Varian and Harlow. I volunteer to read and review this ARC.
Varian must convince the human to become is queen or he’ll go insane. This is a great alien read. I volunteered to read an advance copy for an honest review.
This is the 1st book that I have read written by Hope Hart but it certainly won’t be the last. I can’t wait for more in this series! Ms. Hart takes the time to develop the characters as well as the story line to keep you interested till the end. You can almost feel what the characters are going through. Harlow and Varian’s story is one of adapting to the circumstances that you are in as well as learning to accept them. In the process you might just find love. This book has everything the you could want in a book; action, adventure, comedy, drama and of course hot romance. You don’t want to miss this one!

The story line was great, the character work was terrific and the book had a fairly good flow to it. This was a great way to start a series and kept me hooked from beginning to end.

This was really enjoyable it’s the first book I’ve read by this author a sci-fi romance which is essentially quite slow-burn.
I believe this was Initially split into two books but has since been combined which probably works much better.
The Arcav an alien race of practically immortal seven-foot Adonis’s with horns and claws have come to earth to claim mates due to woman no longer being born on their planet.
Harlow a police officer finds herself matched as the Arcav king’s mate and given five hours to present herself instead she takes flight with the help of the human resistance leading her new mate on quite the merry chase.
Varian originally does come across as a bit arrogant and self-entitled believing that Harlow should be thankful to have him as a mate even knowing nothing of him or his inner character.
It soon becomes apparent from his side of the bond that it is so much more than that.
Essentially she is someone he has been waiting for all his life and he can’t comprehend that she wouldn’t feel the same way he does both blessed and honoured by there connection.
He actually feels quite hurt and dismayed that she would go to such lengths to escape him.
Delving deeper into what made Varian tick I found I actually liked him a lot his overall protectiveness even when Harlow pushed him to his absolute limits was incredibly heartwarming.
I could also feel his dismay at not being able to ease her into her new life and role.
It was apparent it bothered Varian but there was just so much more at stake here than what was showing on the surface.
Also, the reality of his new mate is so much more intense than what he was initially prepared for blindsiding him slightly.
Harlow well I could see initially why she ran.
She was scared and it was a knee jerk reaction but as she wasn’t going to be able to outrun her fate forever I just wanted her to give Varian a chance.
He was just so earnest and caring and I felt that it was time to pull up her big girl panties and deal as it could have been a hell of a lot worse and he was really quite the catch.
At times she almost came across as totally ungrateful and narrow-minded in the face of Varian’s patience and regard.
I did love that Harlow was able to eventually pull herself together her tenacity and self-sufficiency was actually a great asset.
Despite her initial resistance she was born to be a leader and Varian couldn’t have been matched with a better mate even if he refuses to recognise her talents in this regard and instead chooses to try to cosset her and wrap her in cotton wool which instead has the opposite effect and only pushed her further away.
When Harlow is pushed her natural tendencies unfortunately seem to be to run away and shut down.
These two were such incredibly complex individuals especially Harlow and I was rooting for them whole-heartedly just wanting them to get on the same page.
So this was action-packed throughout and a real page-turner.
It did sometimes get a little tiresome with the constant angst and push and pull throughout and I was definitely more than ready when Harlow finally admitted the truth in regards to her feelings.
Harlow is one of those characters that you understand and can see why she is behaving so.
But at the same time, you want to sit her down and have a long talk with her about her car crash and self-destructive behaviour.
I am most certainly on board for reading the next book in this series.
This one gets a thumbs up from my camp.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of The Arcav King’s mate.

I was poking around Booksprout seeing if anything interesting came up and saw this book. The blurb was pretty good, so I grabbed it. Wow!!! So, glad I did. No alien insta-love here just a great alien invasion story. The invasion is because the aliens need mates and their female population is at zero growth. At first we see that the aliens are just hard a$$e$ taking any female that has been matched – it doesn’t matter if she is married, has a boyfriend, or has kids (she has 5 hours to surrender herself to the Arcav). As Harlow has her life planned out and loves her life, she resists and becomes a runner with the help of HAA (humans against Arcav).
Both of the main characters are very well written and given depth. Even the secondary characters are written with such care and fully fleshed that the whole story ran like a movie in my head. I don’t want to give away the story but I will say that it is not an easy road that Harlow and Varian travel and Harlow struggles with her role constantly. A rich and detailed story that drew me in and before I even finished it I had downloaded book #2 (Jeret’s story – which is just as good). I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
