Once again A C Fuller has managed to write a story that has everything: action, suspense, danger, fear, suspicion, murder, theft, bravery, heroics, romance, a hinted-at orgy, newspapers, media, and disfunctual families! I’m telling you I don’t know how he found the space to weave all these many threads unto a cohesive pattern but he did it in a breathtaking way. I’ve never been happy to be sick, but a moderate bout with a stomach bug over the weekend was the excuse I needed to lie in bed and read; and Alex, Camilla, Sonia, Juan and the other characters made being sick have an upside! (And that’s VERY hard to do!) The action here is tight, curve balls come at you from wwwwaaaayyy back in left field & usually catch you right between the eyes because you didn’t see that coming! Dialogue is smooth and flowing for the most part. I really can’t think of a downside because even though this is a series, the major questions are resolved with just a couple of loose threads hanging over so that I’m not in the dark when I picked up book 2. I’m telling you; don’t miss this one. You will be very sorry if you do!
An intriguing thriller that runs the gamut of suspense. Set mostly in NYC, Alex is picked to cover the murder trial of a student accused of killing a professor. He follows several leads and becomes embroiled in murders, mergers and other mayhem. Very difficult to put down.
Found this book easy to read and a good look into how a journalist should work and think.
Not my type
Read “Crime Beat” first and enjoyed it, then based on that, bought this book. Did not find it interesting.
Really enjoy these books!
Great book.
Good easy ready and I enjoyed the book.
“Anonymous Source” couldn’t be more timely given the way mainstream media works today! I couldn’t put it down!
Very intriguing mystery – kept you guessing
it was alright, the ending was a little lame
This is about journalists who get a major story from an unknown party.
I hard a hard time keeping the characters straight.
This media thriller engages you from its very beginning, which is 9/11. When the first plane hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center, Macintosh Hollinger was in his executive offices on the 99th floor of the South Tower. What happens to him that day is not what his loved ones believed. A. C. Fuller skillfully reveals a story of intrigue that whirls around a fast-changing media business, and also around a cast of characters, each with passions that boil so close to the surface.
A year after the attacks, a young newspaper reporter in New York is seeking excitement and a fast break into flashy television news. He’d been disappointed by his assignment to a bland court circuit, until now with the beginning of the Santiago trial. He knows this media-circus story will finally land him on the front page and will keep him there for weeks. What he doesn’t know is that he’s about to start down a trail where he’ll uncover the scoop of a lifetime. So why then does his editor bury the story? And it can’t be some coincidence that his source turns up dead. What ensues will test this reporter’s courage and integrity.
Now Alex Vane is a reporter in the midst of a violent media conspiracy. He needs to solve the mystery before more people end up dead, before he could end up dead. Who is the anonymous source that seems to be helping Alex? What is motivating this anonymous source? Is he really helping Alex? And how does any of this relate to Macintosh Hollinger? You’ll be eagerly analyzing along with Alex as he tracks down facts, interviews people, and investigates clues using the newly emerging internet and other turn of the 21st century technology. In the end, it’s a mix of reporter’s intuition and some old fashioned common sense that puts it together and reveals a secret that leads back to the tragic morning of 9/11.
Always enjoy this author’s books!
I really enjoyed the Alex Vane series but had not read this one. Great story with lots of twists. I would highly recommend.
Thriller
This was an excellent book and well written kept my interest throughout and couldn’t put it down
The plot was hard to follow at times.
What a great surprise! The plot moves well, foreshadowing isn’t clumsy. Well-written. Not pretentious, realistic enough. I especially liked the denouement at the end, in which characters improved themselves or their situations just enough to give you hope for their future. You will like these people, whether you approve of them or not!
