My parents forgot something when they ran… me.
After scamming most of our town out of their life savings, my folks disappeared in the middle of the night.
Forced to take me in, my estranged aunt and uncle shipped me off to Raven River Academy the first chance they got.
In my town, the line between the haves and the have-nots is actually a twelve-foot gate that keep the unwanted where they … twelve-foot gate that keep the unwanted where they belong. Nothing could unite the two factions until I set foot on campus.
For the first time in our history, they all agree on one thing:
I must pay for my father’s sins.
But why should I care?
The joke is on them because I have nothing left inside. No part of me that isn’t already broken. I invite them to do their worst.
Until The Angels enter the game.
The most dangerous gang in town has a score to settle with my family, and Cassius, Clay, Hiro, and Royal are here to collect.
Raven River soon becomes a battleground of lies, deceit, and violence, and I stand at the heart of it.
The gorgeous otherworldly Angels will remind me that there is one thing left that I care about… and they’ll destroy it in heavenly fire.
The Angels is a reverse harem high school bully romance. This is book one in the series and features language, dark themes, and sexual scenes. If you’re cool with that, dive in!

Is this book 1 or is there another before this???
This dumps you in the middle of something with some information but I’m already lost and I’m on chapter 1. Memories of another girl?? Is this Ember’s childhood or experiencing someone else’s memories? What’s the backstory of how she know the 3 guys, like did they try something bad to her years prior? See I’m confused. If I don’t get some bearings on anything I might just have to skip.
I’m done and I had to skip some sections to get past the confusion. But as it got better and better the ending came quick. CLIFFHANGER!! Got to wait for book 2.
As for the reverse harem so faker we have two brothers Cassius and Clay (parts of a triplet) that’s messed up since their sister (Cam) is 16 and the brothers are 18, triple would be the same age but not in this story… Then we have the ‘ex’ Royal, who kept Ember from committing suicide 2 years prior but he also was her first lover, that she hasn’t seen since but is at this new school. These 3 plus another are call The Angels, son artists and thief’s basically, working for a guy named Rio…. who has a connection to one of her 3 wannabe lovers.
Everyone rich, or poor are out for her blood to either beat her for her parents location or threats/blackmailing her for money that her parents stolen, but her 14 year old brother gets dragged into blackmailing when someone does the unthinkable.
My question is what was in the note left behind on the pillow from her parents? Did they truly hated her like she claimed?
I can’t believe this book would receive a 1 star! It’s barely dark at all. The plot is interesting. The FMC is realistic and relatable. If anything, it could be a lot more steamy. I love it!
I was hoping to love this book because it has such great reviews and it’s been recommended to me so many times that I ended up getting all 3 books. I wish I could say that I loved it but it fell short for me. I enjoyed most of the characters but I especially loved Ember and her brother Eli. There was no denying the love they had for each other and they needed that especially, after how their parents left and with them being placed with an aunt and uncle that doesn’t want kids. The main thing that killed this story for me was that the pace of it, it was so slow. There’s drama, drugs, sex, parties, bullies, attempted rape and much more but it’s hard to stay interested in a story that’s boring even with everything going on. The ending had a huge shocking moment regarding Royal and his dad, Hiro, Cassius, Clay and Ember but it wasn’t enough to make me want to read the next book in this series.
After their parents abandon them, Ember and Eli are sent to live with their Aunt and Uncle and in doing so transfer to Raven River Academy. Secrets, lies, deceit and more lead to people hating them for their parents sins. Bullying in many forms happen to Ember and a blast from her past makes her hate the situation that much more. Her new start isn’t easy and this is only the beginning!
I absolutely loved this book. So much so that I started reading book two of the serious immediately. I highly recommend this book to all Dark romance, bully romance and/or reverse harem book lovers!
Em is a take no BS girl, she is surrounded by a school, town and state that hate and blame her for her parents wrong doing. She can either link her self to her high end bullies or sell her soul to the Angels; when she ends up doing both she finds out she can’t be saved by either.
This is a suck you in and keep you reading must read.
Wow! I could not put this book down. I loved every second of The Angels! Ruby Vincent is brilliant! This was such a good story from the first page.
We meet Ember and her younger brother Eli at a time in their lives when their world has turned on its end. Their parents are on the run, the town they call home has turned against them, they’re forced to live with family members who can’t stand them, and they’ve lost everyone they care about except each other. Now they’re being thrown to the wolves in a boarding school filled with the kids whose parents were scammed and who are taking their anger out on Ember.
If this weren’t enough, The Angels, Royal, Cas, Clay, and Hiro, the ruthless members of their town’s notorious Four Horsemen gang, also have an interest in Ember. Oh, let’s not forget that in addition to the bullying and the gang, Ember is also being blackmailed and Eli’s physical safety threatened.
This book was nonstop action. As Ruby Vincent does well from all the stories I’ve read from her, she gives us a true, raw backdrop to the relationships that develop between Ember and the guys. There is so much going on. So well written! And that cliffhanger!!! I can’t wait to see what happens next.
She never wanted them to live with her aunt and uncle, and she never wanted to be a student at Raven River Academy but their parents forced this upon them.
Everyone knows who she is, and what her parents did. Almost every student is baying for her blood, thirsty for her pain.
There’s nowhere to run to, and definitely nowhere to hide, so what will become of her…
Eeek! This is a rollercoaster ride of a read! Highs and lows and moments of shock and awe. I feel like I need a time out to calm down!
I must admit whilst I loved the thick and fast action, as the names grew I became overwhelmed and had to pause my reading, to reread a few pages as everything became a blur, and I couldn’t differentiate the characters.
Once I got it straight in my head, who belong to which group and from where they originated everything fell into place and I enjoyed the book so much more.
Ember is such a wonderful character she has such broad shoulders, and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. I loved that she wasnt portrayed as vulnerable and weak but like a warrior princess.
This is truly a great start to a new series, and I cant wait to find out more more more!
