My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I gave 5 unicorns because 2 out of the 3 books I gave 5 to, and Book 4 was 4 Unicorns.
Book 4
This is the fourth book in the series, and while each book is standalone, I think the readers would get more enjoyment if the series is read in order because of character building and dynamics between the characters is so much better if you know the characters from the beginning 🙂 This is definitely YA appropriate even for the middle grade students.
This story picks up where book 3 leaves off, and there is plenty of action, mystery, puzzles, old friends, and new friends to keep you entertained throughout. L.R.W. does a great job with her descriptions where the pictures and scenes jump into your head, and I also like that she mixes plenty of humor and silliness in because it is just how students behave in real life 🙂 She also builds great lessons and morals into each book making it a richer read for the young people who read it. Diligence, Courage, and Commitment are definitely things I want my son to see both in the real world and the things he reads. I do not like to give away what happens, but you can know that this book like the others is Andy’s adventure into getting the next ingredient to breaking the curse. There are plenty of battles and bad guy action throughout. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.
Book 5
This is the 5th book in the series and over 200 pages of awesomeness! This is a teen book! While you probably could get away with reading the books out of order, I do not recommend it! Your journey will be so much more if you read them in order because they all refer back to previous events, and it makes the characters and world that much more fantastic!
L.R.W. Lee does a fantastic job hitting on topics that parents and teachers alike struggle with when it comes to our kids. I don’t want to give anything away though. She makes it real because everything is not perfect, and bad things do happen. The characters struggle to get through things especially Andy, and he makes mistakes like a typical human. This book is definitely an emotional rollercoaster, and I did shed tears.
Book 6
This is the 6th book in the series, and it is targeted toward middle grade students. However, I think any fantasy lover would love this series at any age. This book does involve dealing with death and loss.
I am definitely not an eloquent person. This is why I read, and don’t write. This series always amazes me with the complex layers of story and meaning that is interwoven through the series. I have fallen into love with the journey into saving Oomaldee, and Andy learning many life lessons along the way. Andy grows with each book. This book was another tear jerker. My heart ached for Andy continuously, and I wanted to vanquish Abaddon and his minions for Andy. You know in live how you tend to wish for miracles; well I found myself wishing that for Andy and his kingdom.
This book and the whole series is an outstanding and moving. I think everyone should read a series that evokes so much emotion and especially the moral issues that are presented and make this book so much bigger than just an adventure. I can’t wait for the next book, but at the same time, I’m going to go into mourning as it will be the last book. Have you ever had those feelings when a series ended?
I highly recommend this book and series to those fantasy lovers who want to read a well-crafted story filled to the brim with emotions and life lessons!
