15-year-old Mari Quillen is about to become invincible. Just like everyone else. For years, Mari has been anxiously awaiting the day when she will receive her Amplifier; a small device implanted behind the ear that gives someone limitless capabilities through verbal commands. But once she finally becomes Amplified and begins mandatory Training with the rest of her peers, she begins to see that her … see that her natural ability to resist and act for herself brings dangerous consequences, as well as unwanted scrutiny from Governor Plenaris, the Community’s most revered official. She grows increasingly wary of the Amplifiers as she watches how they affect her friends and brother, constantly wondering if Amplification is really as fantastic as she thought it would be. Sure, she can perform elaborate acrobatics and recall obscure information, but how can she be sure the Amplifier isn’t controlling her?
Perfect for those who enjoyed Divergent and Ender’s Game, The Amplified is the first in a clean three book series that explores a society where no one has to make any effort as long as they know the right thing to say.

The story is built on an after-war world where society supposedly is expected to make everyone even. So when our heroine stands out, people shy away from her. There is a lot of action and our girl is usually in the middle of it because someone doesn’t want her to succeed.
Good imagery and colorful characters.
Great!!! Could not stop with book 1. Had to read the other 2 books and loved them all. Rose Sutton
A fun YA series, interesting take on dystopian ideas. Fun popcorn read.
I loved the world this author created. It’s set in the future where humans are amplified, but there are side effects. I only gave it four stars because the book didn’t feel complete. I suppose that’s the purpose for the rest of the books in the trilogy
Ok yeah it ends on a cliffhanger hanger. But what a story. I loved how strong the Heroine is. How she does what she deems right even if it’s against the grain. I will be picking up the next story.
I read this book and it was the beginning of a trilogy. I loved the first two books and was really disappointed if I had to stop reading for some reason. The third book changed for me. I felt disappointed in the main character, Mari, and didn’t like the way some of the story went. And while the end was not a cliff hanger, it kind of left me hanging. I am satisfied with the way it ended, however, I would have liked to know a little more – perhaps in an epilogue………
Simple plot of man against all controlling government. The author creates great story about how citizenry reacts to enticing government handout. Reader lead through the internal questioning by the main character as she learns the ways of free choice always better than any made up alternative.
Interesting series. I’ve read several of them now.
I love this genre of YA distopian with a stong female role, and you get it in this series. I love Divergant and this had the same feel. I would love to seenit made into a movie. Definitely a MUST READ!!!
Absolutely Wonderful series. Spell bounding. Could not put it down
She could not want to be chipped and have the same abilities as the others she knows. The chip gives them powers but when she starts training she wonders if they are being controlled by the chip. What will she do to find out? See how she tries to find out

This format has been over worked . I started but lost interest.
Started it and couldn’t get into it – gave up.
Slow start so hang in there. The action starts when Mari leaves to go into service and get amplied.
