Richard VanRyan has it all.A loving wife, a beautiful family, great friends, and a career he excels at.He’s riding high on the crest of life. What happens when the ride stops? When the unthinkable becomes reality and life may never again be the same? The Contract has changed. Can Richard and Katy overcome The Amendment?
Holy mother ! For one, I love all your stories but Richard is my favorite. I guess I love assholes with redeeming qualities and you Melanie never disappoint. Your stories are always filled with sweetness, love and now THIS!!! I never expected what you gave us in The Amendment. This was a real test for their relationship. I cannot imagine what this would be like to live but you wrote it beautifully.
Where to start…boy meets girl, boy pays girl to pretend be in love, boy is an a-hole to the girl and she’s saint. Then boy discovers a world he never thought he could have. When we thought they were living their happily ever after comes the biggest challenge they’ll have as family and as partners.
They’ll get their happily ever after, but first they’ll have to get through this.
So, I just had to know what was going to happen in the book and no, I will not reveal it. I enjoyed ‘The Contract’ and the novella after it. Richard and Katy are happy, but then life throws a wrench and they have to fight to get their happiness back. I liked the book and read it quite fast.
I do think it became a bit repetitive after a while. What I loved was the warmth of friends and family and the cameo’s of the BAM-characters.
No worries: it has a HEA.
I’m so happy I discovered The Contract series! I devoured all three books back-to-back-to-back. The hero’s journey was fantastic, and the chemistry between him and the heroine was off-the-charts.
The Amendment is the third book in Melanie Moreland’s Contract series, an dis well worth reading. I loved following this continuation of Richard and Katy’s story as they work through a heartbreaking accident and Richard’s stubbornness to keep their love and their family together. For those who haven’t read this series it is best to start with The Contract first before reading this book. You won’t regret it, they’re all worth reading.
Melanie Moreland’s The Amendment is a visit with Richard and Katy VanRyan from The Contract (and the novella The Baby Clause). Richard and Katy got their happy ending in The Contract but as we all know, HEA is a time subjective term. As this deeply in-love couple aim their sights at happily ever after, life decides to test them in an extreme way, making them face harsh realities, and test the bonds they forged.
Since telling what they go through would be a spoiler, I’m going to skirt the plotline just saying that whats happens is a nightmare that affects not only Richard and Katy but everyone who loves them. Richard, who started off as a self-centered jerk in The Contract to become a man worthy of Katy, reverts as his will, patience and more importantly, his self-image is tested. Katy, a woman who pulls no punches, finds herself facing a crisis of self as well. The chemistry and love between these two are still off the charts making this an emotional, heartbreaking read.
Ms. Moreland took what could have been a sappy, overtly Hallmark-type story and gave it grace and realism. The Amendment characters navigation through one of life’s tragedies is fraught with highs and lows as they figure out what is most important in the time we have here. This addition to the story of the VanRyans made them more relatable, more real and more lovable. This is a MUST READ for Moreland fans. (You have to read The Contract prior to The Amendment.)
Katy completes Richard like no one else ever could. She along with a few others have made him the man he is today. His love for Katy and his girls is his number one priority and they are his life. On top of the world so to speak the unthinkable happens, but will love persevere… I’m not one to spoil things for others so I consider this a much read especially if one has already read The Contract.
OMG Melanie…what a book ypu wrote. You really outdid yourself this time. I suffered and cried so much for Richard and Katy and Gracie and Heather. But in the same time I was so mad with Richard because he caused Katy so much grief and made her cry wich he promised not to do again. But I glad that he finally pulled himself togheter and became the man that Katy deserves.
And the final of the book made me believe that anything is possible if you believe.
I am a huge fan of this author and love all of her books! This one was no exception, but she upped the anty with this one. Melanie has a formula, and I love that I know the basics of what to expect. This one though…. she really upped the emotional factor and took us for a ride. I love her formula, but I was happy to have read something a bit new from her. I would highly recommend this book, and any book from this author.
Richard and Katie are great characters, very developed, and it was nice to read about how they were beyond the first book (and a half lol). You will love this new chapter of their lives. It will tug your emotions and pull your heartstrings, but leave you with the feel good feeling.
The Contract is one of my favorite books ever! Richard VanRyan and Katy are one of my favorite couples ever. Their love story is one I love to reread and still love every single time. I guess I need to reread The Amendment after The Contract from now on, because I absolutely loved it! I absolutely adored the emotions and all the characters.
I was a little hesitant to start this story, because Katy and Richard had the perfect happily ever after and I was so happy with that. I should have know Melanie would do an amazing job with the continuation of Katy and Richard’s story. The Amendment was everything I hoped it would be and more.
Richard VanRyan is still the same Richard VanRyan that I know. He’s smart, rich, hardworking, determined and a little arrogant. He’s amazing at his job. He loves his job and the people he works with. Richard has become a real family man. He looks forward to going home, to his Katy and his girls. Richard is loving his life.
Katy is also still the same woman. She’s loyal, kind hearted, strong, loving and feisty. She’s a fighter. She knows what she wants and it’s not easy to change her mind then. Katy stays at home to take care of her daughters who are everything to her. Richard is also everything to her. Katy is loving her life.
Katy and Richard are a beautiful, powerful and solid couple. They love each other so much and have been happily married for a few years. They have a beautiful family together. Both of them can’t imagine life without the other one in it. Everything is perfect. But then something happens that could jeopardize their relationship and their happiness. Richard and Katy will struggle. It broke my heart what they went through sometimes. I just wanted them to be happy again, because they deserve it. The epilogue was perfect and beautiful!
This book broke me in such a good way. There were so many things that I could relate to in this book and it took me from highs to lows and back again.
If you are a fan of the BAM Series – then you know Richard and Katy as they make appearances there. If you’ve only read the BAM Series and haven’t read the other two books in this series, you can totally read this book (although I would highly recommend reading the other books).
Everything is seemingly perfect for Richard and Katy until one moment changes everything. This is a book about love and commitment and perseverance. This is a book about friendship and family and those that stick by you through the good, the bad and the ugly.
This epilogue was the best. I was in tears <3
Thank you, Melanie, for another incredible read from the heart.
A Powerful Journey!
I fell in love with Katy and Richard in The Contract. I didn’t know how Ms. Moreland could top the beginning of their love story, but she absolutely did. Katy and Richard’s happily ever after hits a major roadblock in The Amendment. Tragedy threatens to topple all that they have built together. This book is an emotional journey about hope and faith and family and love. Katy’s strength and resilience is inspiring. Richard’s perspective is raw and gut wrenching. Throughout this story the bonds of love are tested and strengthened. I was once again blown away by Katy and Richard’s love. An added bonus was getting to revisit some of my favorite characters from The Contract and the Vested Interest Series. This is one of my top reads of 2019!
The Contract has to be one of my favorite books ever, The Amendment knocked it to the stratosphere with this one. Richard and Katy are on my top favorite couples ever and in this story Melanie Moreland had me doing an all nighter, I just couldn’t stop reading. Everything in the HEA you read is only the beginning for, and Richard and Katy had an amazing ever after. A beautiful well deserved 5 star, because I can’t give it more.
The Contract series is one of my all-time favorites. The character growth from start to finish ranks among the best there is. Richard VanRyan’s journey from toad to prince is a must read. The chemistry between Richard and Katy is off-the-charts so the love scenes are steamy and delicious.
I’m sad that this is the end of the series but so glad to have taken the literary journey with the VanRyan’s
Start from the beginning and get lost in this world. You’ll be glad you did!
The Contract (The Contract Series, #1)
5 STARS
I absolutely loved Richard and Katy’s story! This book was so emotional and so beautifully written. You can feel the love they have for each other and despite the struggles that they face throughout this story.
The Amendment is the second book in The Contract Series and is an EPIC read. I highly recommend reading this series. The Amendment by Melanie Moreland will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
Superb. Brilliant. Fantastic. Amazing. Pick whichever you prefer as they all apply to this story. I had a mix of emotions reading this book…anger, frustration, sadness, happiness and so many more. This story was so good I wish I could unread it just to read it again. It was perfect for these characters and more than I could have hoped for. A fantastic edition.
I fell in love with Richard and Katy in the first one… the next two stories was the icing on the cake… This book however… made me fall in love with Richard all over. What an amazing story to add to their love story… I still get goosebumps reading The Contract… and those goosebumps only continued during The Amendment… one word that I didn’t like reading… FINAL installment…
If you haven’t read the first two books in this series, do it now, and then get the tissues ready for the third book. I honestly do not want to give anything away because I believe the emotion comes from NOT knowing what is going to happen. But do yourself a favor and read the series. 5 Star Review The Amendment (The Contract #3) by Melanie Moreland
Having read and fallen in love with Richard and Katy in The Contract and The Baby Clause and again seen glimpses of them, most recently in Reid, I wasn’t sure what Ms. Moreland had in store for one of my favourite couples.
Melanie Moreland drew me into the story from the first page. I kept thinking just one more chapter and I just couldn’t put it down until I had finished.
The Amendment had me in tears and was an emotional roller coaster of a read. Can Richard and Katy overcome The Amendment and fight for love or are they destined to fail?
The story was extremely well written and it was great to be back in the world of Richard, Katy and their family and friends.
For fear of accidentally posting spoilers, this review is short. All I will say is one click this book and read for yourself, you won’t be disappointed.
This book has all the feels you would expect in what for me was the perfect read !!!
I love Richard and Katy so I was excited to catch up with them but this story was so much more than I could of hoped for.
I’m not going to write a review that’s full of spoilers because I believe you need to read The Amendment with no preconceptions you need to read this story first hand. What I will tell you is be warned this is an emotional roller coaster ride and you will need the tissues handy but there are also some classic one liners from their adorable daughter that will certainly put a smile on your face.
When the unthinkable happens this couple once again find themselves fighting for love ……..
Can they overcome The Amendment ?
Melanie Moreland has shown us what a talented author she is with this must read.
Melanie Moreland broke my heart and yet she managed to piece it back together. After reading the Amendment, I have a whole new perspective and also a whole new appreciation of Richard. I highly recommend that you read the first two books, The Contract and The Baby Clause to get the whole story. You will not want to miss one moment of this epic story. You will be fully impressed with the changes that Richard has experienced, the long winding road he has had to traverse to come to this point in his life where we have learned to finally LOVE him and he has finally learned that he is worthy to be loved. I recommend that you allow yourself a sleepless night to read this book as you will not want to put it down and also be sure to have a box of tissues handy as well. You will need them
