Richard VanRyan has it all.A loving wife, a beautiful family, great friends, and a career he excels at.He’s riding high on the crest of life. What happens when the ride stops? When the unthinkable becomes reality and life may never again be the same? The Contract has changed. Can Richard and Katy overcome The Amendment?
The Amendment is one of the best, most satisfying stories I’ve read this year!
Melanie Moreland’s writing is moving, intelligent, and keenly insightful.
If you read anything in 2019, read The Amendment.
So obviously, I really enjoyed The Amendment, 5* peeps! Before I started I was worried/ scared even. I’d seen the teasers, so I had all sorts of scenarios running through my head. But let me just tell you I didn’t theorize at all well. Melanie knocked out of the park, beyond my wildest expectations.
I started one night then continued the next at 12%, when 86% dawned about 5:35am and my tablet almost broke my glasses as I almost passed out I had to stop. I didn’t even realise I’d read so long. I was thoroughly engrossed in the story of Richard & Katy. There was so much to take in, digest & ultimately enjoy. More than 1 chapter I read through tears, others with giggles, some with shock & worry. I hurt, cheered, cursed and loved along the roller coaster with Richard & Katy, my heart physically hurt at times as it plummeted with despair & fear, then soared with love & hope.
It you’ve not read the start to Richard & Katy’s story, you should before you read The Amendment. You’d probably be able to enjoy it somewhat but you’d definitely miss out on an awful lot. I really can’t recommend this book and the while series enough.
After The Contract and The Baby Clause, Richard and Katy had a pretty perfect life. They had overcome their hurdles and Richard was living very differently than he ever dreamed he deserved or could have. But in The Amendment, Melanie’s 3rd book in this series, their lives are shaken up.
Richard and Katy’s idyllic existence is threatened and Richard has choices to make. Has he really changed from his old ways and can Katy deal with the man he has become? All is on the line as family and friends attempt to help.
True friendships are put to the test and lines are blurred between family and friends. I had to bring out the tissues to get through this book. The men of BAM came through for Richard and my heart melted at the strength of their bond. Gracie had her tiny starfish hugging body completely wrapped around my heart and in true Melanie fashion, we get our HEA. The epilogue, *sigh* is just perfect.
If you haven’t read the first two books, grab them up and if you have, you don’t want to miss this book, the only one in the Vested Interest Series to have 3 books! I only wish I could give it more than Five Stars!!
Oh Melanie! I wish I could give you a 100-star review for The Amendment because it was spectacular! I’m embarrassed to say that it took me reading all about the BAM boys before I read The Contract to find out just what this character Richard VanRyan was all about. And he’s all that and more! I loved he and Katy’s love story so much and could not wait to read this book. I had no preconceived notions or ideas about it so needless to say, I went through all the emotions that I usually go through while reading Melanie’s books – I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw things, I couldn’t sleep, my heart broke and then my heart sang — thank you for giving us a look into the lives of Richard and Katy and their extended family. I love these characters so much–all of the Vested Interest books and these books are on my re-read list because I never want to let these characters go. The Amendment exceeded all my expectations, but that’s no surprise because this author always exceeds in every way. Pure perfection!
Wow – I fell in love with Richard and Katy’s story from the first book (Contract) and then again in the second book (Baby Clause) my admiration for the couple grew. Now we have the third book in the series and I just want to give them both a hug. Their marriage will be tested, their strength wil be tested and they will have to hit rock bottom before they can go back up again. Melanie Moreland has a way to bring the characters to life and the reader feels every heart break, every shattered hope and dream and every hopeful triumph. This story will rip your heart out and make you want to slap the characters but in the end the reader will be in a better place than when they started the book. If there was one series that should be a movie – it should be this one.
I absolutely adored Katy and Richard in The Contract. They had their HEA, I was perfectly happy with it! But Melanie Moreland takes us a step further with The Amendment. What happens when your HEA isn’t happy any more? What happens when everything you believe about yourself, your life is put to the test?
This book is filled with hope, love, and family. Yes, all those things are threatened here and yes, you will need a box of tissues (maybe two) but the ultimate message is so beautiful and real, I could not put this book down. Another five star book from this author!!
I have come to expect certain things from melanie when I read a new book by her. I expect some heartache, some laughs and above all a who lot of love especially when Richard and Katy are involved.
I cannot express how amazing of a couple they are. They have adorable girls and a life many dream of.
But this book, this book tests them at every turn.
I laughed, I cried (ok teared up), I got angry and I smiled a lot. I have loved Richard from the get go in The Contract and that hasn’t changed. He has a piece of my heart!
This is in my list of top reads of 2019. I loved every word. This book deserves more than 5 stars hands down!!!!!!!
It’s been years since we’ve had the pleasure of being introduced to Richard and Katy. The Amendment touched my heart as Melanie Moreland delivers such a beautiful story.
Richard and Katy’s love shines so bright off the pages of this story. Melanie has such a way with her words that you literally feel like you are in the minds of her characters and are going through everything they are. Feeling all the ups and downs making the story so much more personal and relatable.
Richard and Katy’s book will have you on one crazy emotional ride from start to finish. It is a ride worth taking as Melanie Moreland takes you on Richard and Katy’s journey showing you their road to a hea. If you haven’t read the Contract Series I highly recommend it.
Oh Richard, I loved you in The Contract and I love you even more in this book. Yes, you were a complete jerk but you turned it around before and you’ll do it again. I totally got the feels when reading this book. I’ve loved Richard and Katy the moment I started reading The Contract. I loved Katy the moment she told Richard to F off. I slowly started to fall for Richard when you started to see more of his heart as the story progressed. In The Amendment, you see him regress but like before, he slowly wakes up and we get to see more of him then before. Of course there are times I wanted to shake him and tell him to her his head out of his butt but he’s one stubborn man.
Richard thought there was no such thing of love when he got with Katy oh and no children for sure. When Graham offered him partner his life turned. Graham and Laura went on a trip. The night after a meeting Brad and Richards life would be changed. Richard would find out what the meaning of love of family and friends really is. He will find also his heart has been taken again by the two new additions. And he said he didn’t want children. Richard the good daddy.
This book should come with a warning label “WARNING: CRYING IS INEVITABLE MUST HAVE TISSUE.” This book rocked me to the core. I ugly cried through almost the whole book. Melanie Moreland really outdid herself this time. She rips her readers souls out and crushes them leaving us to pick up the pieces and put our hearts back together in the happier moments.
The characters in this book are wonderful and have amazing hearts and souls. Of course there were times that I wanted to throat punch Richard, but hey he was being a real bastard. That Katy is one strong woman, that’s for sure. I also love how our BAM boys from the Vested series make themselves known in this wonderful series. I love how the two worlds between the series blends so beautifully. It makes for a truly wonderful read.
The Contract series is not a new series, but one that started a few years back. I love how Melanie was able to pick it back up and still create a beautiful read. With a mix of old and new characters this story was one for the Hallmark channel. Then again Hallmark has nothing on Melanie. She mixes sweet and innocent with a bit of dirty and naughty. Giving these books top notch sex appeal.
This book overall was one amazing read. If you love a good cry, then this is for you. But don’t say I did not warn you…..gut wrenching. This smooth flowing story has amazing characters, tragedy and love beyond belief. You will not be disappointed.
I love this series Richard and Katy hold such a special place in my heart. I knew that Melanie was going to take us on an unexpected journey with them. She has a way of pulling us into their world and giving you all the feels of her beautiful characters. This was certainly a tear jerker so please have your tissues handy. You and the characters will be broken down but Melanie always finds a way and puts everything back together in a new way! She certainly tested their love, will and once again had their band of friends rally! I absolutely loved getting a visit from all of the old characters that I have grown to love. Just when you think you have it all be careful because in the blink of an eye you may be left in pieces and in need of repair ! LOVED It!

This is the third book in the Contract Series. Richard and Katharine’s story continues in this installment. They are such wonderful characters! This is a beautiful and emotional story! The supporting characters are amazing. I loved to see again the characters from the amazing Vested Interest series! John Lane and Tatiana Sokolov did an excellent job with the narration. I highly recommend it.
This is definitely a one or two tissue box book! I loved it even though I was a blubbering mess most of the time. It’s a definite page-turn and can’t-put-down! Melanie captures us with the continuation of the story of Richard VanRyan, his love for his wife, and his family … until tragic strikes. If you loved The Contract, you will love this, too.
Richard and Katy are living their best lives, enjoying their two adorable daughters when the unthinkable happens and life changes on a dime. Richard doesn’t cope well with the circumstances and we get to see them work through their relationship once again. A great story that anyone who’s dealt with a major injury can relate to!!
The Amendment
(The Contract #2)
Written by: Melanie Moreland
In The Amendment, Melanie Moreland has given readers the best to two worlds.
We get to spend time with Richard and Katy and the girls and we get some cross over and spend some time with some of the characters in her Vested Interest series.
Richard, Katy and the girls are going strong. He loves his job, his family and he has realized that friends and family are important to him and his girls.
However, in a heartbeat everything in Richard’s life will change. When I say changes I mean massive change in all areas of his life. The bottom line is how will he handle the changes and how will the family cope.
Melanie Moreland takes readers through good and bad, she gives us angst, tears, laughs and love as she walks us through the lives her wonderful characters live.
If you’ve read The Contract, The Baby Clause 2.0 and have the first three Vested Interest books in your read pile, it’s time you opened The Amendment and check up on the VanRyan’s.
I knew something was going to happen with Richard and Katy, but I had no idea about the rollercoaster ride of emotion it would take me on.
I had all of these different scenarios in my head as I listened to Richard mentoring Brad. I was shocked. Totally not expecting the next sequence of events.
I really liked how Richard and Katy created their own family and support system out of really good friends. I also liked that Richard really wanted to redeem himself with everyone.
The BAM guys pulled up for Richard and his family. I enjoyed how things settled down for them, and really enjoyed the two or three epilogues. I loved John Lane and Tatiana Solomon’s narration.
I wonder if there will be a book about Brad eventually.
Absolutely loved it. One of the best books I’ve read in a long time.
Deliciously tense!
Let me start out by saying how much I loved this book! By emphasizing the VanRyan’s charmed life together in early chapters, Melanie Moreland creates a beautiful, delicious tension that made this book unputdownable! You sense something is going to happen, but you have no idea what. And when something does happen, you race through the book gasping for breath until the HEA that Melanie Moreland always guarantees. Richard and Katy are two of my favorite characters, and I loved revisiting them and the boys of BAM!
Loved all three books. Love all your books. I’ll keep reading them.
