Richard VanRyan has it all.A loving wife, a beautiful family, great friends, and a career he excels at.He’s riding high on the crest of life. What happens when the ride stops? When the unthinkable becomes reality and life may never again be the same? The Contract has changed. Can Richard and Katy overcome The Amendment?
I love new stories about my favorite couples but I am always afraid something can go wrong but as always Melanie Moreland doesn’t disappoint, The Amendment is as wonderful as her other books, full of surprises and laughs.
This is a follow-up to Katy and Richard’s life with their wonderful girls but life can’t be perfect all the time and they will have to face old demons that can ruin everything they have worked for.
“This is a part of our journey, not the end of the road, Richard.”
I loved everything about The Amendment, because of books like this one is that I love follow-ups stories
Do you ever wonder what happens to your favorite couple after their happily ever after? In The Amendment, Ms Moreland catches us up with Richard and Katy.
We see them enjoying their life with two young daughters when a normal day goes terribly wrong. It’s the kind of day that could happen to anyone and would test even the strongest of relationships.
Ms Moreland gives us a realistic look at the aftermath of a life changing event. In this well written book, we see the wide range of emotions from Katy, Richard, and their friends. Seeing their journey reinforces that this a couple who belongs together. It also highlights the fact just because a couple is happy that the work of being in a real relationship isn’t over. As hard as parts of this were to read (because it hurt to see them struggle), it was also refreshing to see them grow, ask for help, seek forgiveness and move forward.
The Amendment is very much a sequel, while you could read it on its own, reading The Contract first is highly recommended. Fans of Ms Moreland will be glad to see several other favorite characters appear in supporting roles for this must read.
About two years ago, a friend said there’s a book that everyone needs to read and it’s on sale so one-click it asap!! That book was The Contract. That book, my first by Melanie Moreland, made me hate then fall in love with Richard VanRyan.
The Amendment is everything I didn’t know I needed. Richard and Katy are on a roller coaster and I felt every single one of their emotions: fear, devastation, despair, happiness, and love.
Anyone who has read the Vested Interest series knows those BAM boys will stop at nothing to help their family and Richard and Katy are family. I loved how they showed up and gave all the love and support that Richard and Katy needed, even when they didn’t want it.
The Amendment made me fall in love with Richard so much more. Katy is the fiercest woman ever. My heart is so full after finishing this book and seeing how wonderful life can continue to be after the HEA.
Well so much to say about this story, so many feelings, lots of emotions. To say I’m not normally a fan of ‘after the happy ever after’ stories is an understatement, they can be a little dull. Not The Amendment, no, nothing dull in this story, far from it. A few surprises that I wasn’t expecting from The VanRyans. My emotions were running high, I hadn’t prepared myself for the rollercoaster ride I embarked on whilst reading. Obviously no spoilers, all I can say is, perfect writing and an awesome story, Melanie writes the best words with the best characters, just let me tell you there’re few cameo appearances I’m sure you’ll love, I certainly did. Oh and those adorable children, I just loved them. Another five star read for me. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.
What a great installment to this series. I hope it continues! As always Melanie writes a great story. The highs and lows will really get you. Keep tissues and some form og alcohol handy while reading and settle in for the ride. You won’t be disappointed!
20 ’s from me for this book! Melanie has taken all the emotions you could want in a story and packed them into this little gem!!! Richard and Katy have quite the story to tell. It’s the story of life, love and change. Life is great….until it isn’t. It can be messy, scary and downright miserable at times! Sadness and insecurities are always present but sometimes they can be overwhelming. But if you can realize where your strength truly lies, life can be the most wonderful thing ever!!! Absolutely loved this book!!!
Richard and Katy have had an emotional ride before this book ever started. They are happy though and it shows. Richard has become a loving husband and devoted father. Katy is his rock. Unexpected things happen and their world becomes a nightmare. Not that I had the exact same experience but one that has all the same emotions that Richard and Katy go through. Their marriage is tested to almost breaking and what they must endure will either make them stronger or not. I voraciously devoured this book. It was so difficult to put down. Superb job by Melanie Moreland.
The Amendment is the third book in The Contract series by Melanie Moreland and the final book in the story of Richard and Katy VanRyan.
I was so afraid to read this book because they already had their HAE. But I should have trusted Melanie because it was beautiful. Yes, sure. It was emotional and heartbreaking. And you could feel the emotion of katy and her angst and her heartbreak. You could also feel Richard’s desperation and his frustration.
Love the side characters so much. This is a story about family and brotherhood A story about being there for each other. A story of second chances. So emotional and made me cry a few times.
If you’ve never read this series, you should start right away. It’s amazing.
5 STARS!!
I absolutely loved Katy and Richard. They definitely faced challenging moments in this story but their love was one thing that could NOT be denied. They say love conquers all and when it came to these characters, there’s truth to that statement. This is one story readers will not want to miss. Even if it’s been a while since you’ve read The Contract, this story will make it seem as if no time has passed and you will love them just as much now as you did then. However, there were times I wanted to throat punch Richard but he pulled it together and that made their ending even sweeter. Bentley, Aiden, Maddox and Reid were added bonuses to the story and I loved their back and forth banter with each other. I also loved Graham and Laura. This story was sweet, funny, steamy, and heartfelt but it had it’s moments of drama. I loved it and I definitely look forward to reading more books from this author.
Melanie does it again!!! She gives you all the feels in one book! Love, tragedy, anger, sadness and of course satisfaction. This is the third novel in her contract series and she pulled out all the stops. This is a must read especially if you enjoyed the other two books in this series. She digs deeper into emotional and physical turmoil and executes a hard journey but positive outcome. Displaying recovery is what the person puts into it. Can we just say…. the epilogue is once again out of this world!!! Highly recommended for all book lovers.
The Van Ryans return. I had no idea what to expect from a novel about a couple that already had their HEA but the crack on the cover had me scared. I don’t want to give any spoilers, because I think everyone should enjoy this story as much as I did, but I would just like to say that Moreland puts us through the wringer again. I will let her off because she writes a cracking epilogue! I love the strength of the relationships in the story, the essence of family and how together we can find the courage to overcome anything
I started reading Melanie Moreland by The Contract, it was such a good novel! Richard VanRyan and Katy were explosive from the begging even when they were pretending to be together. The way Richard has discovered love and that he deserved to be loved by Katy is very emotional and strong.
Well, it has been years, they have two daughters together and life could not be better having a family and working with the Gaving Group.
However, life is not that… It has ways of putting you off the spot and defying you… The book is about that, how to cope with the curve-balls that life brings to you when you least notice. In the end, it is good to be loved and have friends and family and you will have lots of surprises in this book, including the visit of some friend from Toronto that starts with B-A-M! This book is all about love, caring and being strong in the worst of the situations and I could not love Richard and Katy more!
FOREVER. We use that word so casually we tend to forget what it means. Forever, seems a long time coming, but tends to never last long enough. The Contract series is an ode to what that one word means. Richard and Katy embody the best of love at the most heartbreaking of moments. They were and will always be my favorite Melanie Moreland couple. The Amendment is a celebration of the healing power of love.
The Amendment is the third and much anticipated and desired book in ‘The Contract’ series. We first met Richard and Katy VanRyan in book 1 The Contract. These characters stole my and other readers’ hearts and in the intervening three years, we’ve all wanted more of their story. Melanie tidied us over with the novella, The Baby Clause, and as sweet and tender as that story was, it just whetted our rabid appetites for more, more, more!!
Well, Melanie finally gave us what we wanted and I’m glad to say. Thank you. This book was everything I hoped for and more. In some ways, it was different from how I thought it would play out. Ideas fleshed in my mind from teasers didn’t come to fruition but what did occur torn my heart to pieces. Melanie warned us it would happen. I just didn’t expect it to in the way it did.
Aaah, Katy. She’s a tower of strength and determination; Richard pushed certainly made those qualities shine in her. She struggled at times but who wouldn’t given what she had to face?
Richard made me want to shake him, to slap him and then hug and kiss the daylights out of him. His love for Katy and the girls never wavered, but his fears over their future got in his head and almost brought back the bad VanRyan. (Although, we secretly loved him even then, didn’t we??)
This story is filled with all the ragged emotions Melanie knows how to drag out of her audience. It’s a roller-coaster ride of love, despair, defeat, battles and more love. I read it in one sitting and let me tell you know, you will need tissues, a comfy reading spot and possibly some wine to comfort your tangled soul. But never fear. Melanie is here for you. You’ll be broken while reading but you’ll be smiling at the end. And yes. You’ll still be wanting even more from these characters. Theirs is a story that has no end. Not for me. Probably not for you, either.
The Amendment is the third book in the Contract series. After The Contract and The Baby Clause I still wanted more of this favorite couple and Ms Moreland has given us that with a bang!
“Her voice was gentle and low. “This is a part of our journey, not the end of the road, Richard.”
Richard and Katy’s life is pretty perfect but when the unthinkable happens they don’t know how to cope. Past scars that Richard thought he had moved beyond cropped up to haunt him and it feels like more than Katy can handle. When unexpected help arrives, the “old” Richard doesn’t want to accept it.
“And if you want to know why, I’ll tell you. You’re ducking family, Richard. And that’s what we do at BAM. We look after family—even when they don’t want us to.”
I was so afraid going into this book. I’d heard rumors that Richard the jerk make his return with a vengeance. Although this is mostly true there is so much more depth to this story that I came out with even more love and respect for Richard and his journey.
“Love is filled with second chances, Richard.”
I loved this story and getting more of Katy, Richard and their whole “family” but now I’m stuck having to deal with this book hangover and just don’t want to move on!
“I had a beautiful wife. Two sweet little girls. A great job. And friends who stuck by me, proving that family isn’t always blood.”
-5 Stars!-
