“Needham’s the real deal. Highly, highly recommended.”- Brendan DuBois, New York Times #1 bestselling author
“If there’s a living writer whose work makes me think of the great Raymond Chandler, it’s Jake Needham.”- James David Audlin, author of THE TRAIN
The first body is in Singapore, on a bed in … TRAIN
The first body is in Singapore, on a bed in an empty suite at the Marriott Hotel. The second is in Bangkok, at a seedy apartment near the American embassy. Both American women. Both viciously beaten, shot in the head, and lewdly displayed.
The FBI says it’s terrorism, but the whispers on the street tell a different story. They say a serial killer is stalking American women across Asia.
Singapore CID assigns the case to Inspector Samuel Tay. Tay is a little cranky, a little lonely, a little overweight, and he smokes way too much. A lot of people think he’s a lousy policeman, but absolutely everyone knows he’s one hell of a detective. That’s the reason such a sensitive case has to go to him, no matter how nervous it makes the higher-ups.
Then why is it, Tay soon begins to wonder, that nobody really seems to want him to find the women’s killer?
Not his bosses at CID. Not the FBI. And especially not the American ambassador.
Jake Needham’s THE AMBASSADOR’S WIFE, a #1 Amazon bestseller in both International Crime and Espionage Thrillers (August 20-23, 2019).

Loved the main character. He is not a know-it-all and his effort to solve the crime is very realistic.
Loved, loved, loved this book! In exotic Singapore, Police Inspector Samuel Tay and his staff are faced with solving the brutal murder of “The Ambassador’s Wife” with minimal help and much resistance from the American Embassy. The plot is well crafted (no “where did that come from?” moments) and nicely paced while also realistically reflecting …
Good read. Easy and interesting.
Totally enjoyed my introduction to character Samuel Tay!!
excellent political thriller
Amount of fowl language ruin the story.
Inspector Tay kept me 100% involved until the very end — great read!
Jake Needham is Michael Connelly with chopsticks…actions take place in Singapour, Tailand, Malaysia, far East (pls excuse spellg). Should start with book 1 of the Inspector Tay series to maximize story lines.
A good setting in Singapore and Thailand and a good police mystery.
repeated murders of women in far east territory that baffles the federal govt and local police until detective Tay is placed on the case, interesting in aspects but did not compete with similar books of this genre
Great mystery. Twists in story, I can usually figure out the who before the end of the book, but this one had me hanging on right up to the end. For mystery lovers every where, this is an exceptionally good read.
This was a great and easy read.
I like the way the author tells the story through the internal conversation of the characters. Very well written and entertaining as well as a good mystery.
Interesting characters, fast paced, easy reading and entertaining.
Interesting mystery, twists and unexpected turns, intriguing main character/detective
Great location and character driven mystery.
I had read Needham’s Jack Shepherd series (through The King of Macau) and enjoyed it a lot, and this follows much of the same outline; a likeable character, an Asian setting (Singapore as opposed to Thailand and Hong Kong), but the lead character is a police detective so it’s a little more believable that he is involved in mysterious doings than a …
First of series I’ve read and will read more. Kept me guessing till end
I had to force myself to finish reading this book. Its protagonist is a very dull, boring character. Much of the book is slow moving . I found it hard to stay engaged in reading the content.
This is an enjoyable read and cynically informative about Singapore.
