“Needham’s the real deal. Highly, highly recommended.”- Brendan DuBois, New York Times #1 bestselling author
“If there’s a living writer whose work makes me think of the great Raymond Chandler, it’s Jake Needham.”- James David Audlin, author of THE TRAIN
The first body is in Singapore, on a bed in … TRAIN
The first body is in Singapore, on a bed in an empty suite at the Marriott Hotel. The second is in Bangkok, at a seedy apartment near the American embassy. Both American women. Both viciously beaten, shot in the head, and lewdly displayed.
The FBI says it’s terrorism, but the whispers on the street tell a different story. They say a serial killer is stalking American women across Asia.
Singapore CID assigns the case to Inspector Samuel Tay. Tay is a little cranky, a little lonely, a little overweight, and he smokes way too much. A lot of people think he’s a lousy policeman, but absolutely everyone knows he’s one hell of a detective. That’s the reason such a sensitive case has to go to him, no matter how nervous it makes the higher-ups.
Then why is it, Tay soon begins to wonder, that nobody really seems to want him to find the women’s killer?
Not his bosses at CID. Not the FBI. And especially not the American ambassador.
Jake Needham’s THE AMBASSADOR’S WIFE, a #1 Amazon bestseller in both International Crime and Espionage Thrillers (August 20-23, 2019).

Singaporean police inspector Sam Tay is Southeast Asia’s Columbo!
I loved this book. Tay is an intriguing, quirky protagonist, thoughtful, reserved, and prudent. Loveable, even. He also happens to be a homicide detective with a strong aversion for death scenes, of all things. And you will love him for all of his eccentricities.
Dare I say, …
This book like all of Mr. Needham’s books captures the reality of life in Asian countries. He consistently accomplishes this without glorifying or denigrating the differences between their and our cultures
I greatly enjoyed this novel. It had some good characters and the ending was well thought out. Takes place in Singapore and provides insight into the culture and country. I would read more of this author.
Loved reading this book and plan on reading the rest of the series.
Good and weird characters. Loved it.
I liked the Samuel Tay Character and background. The bits of Singapore history and descriptions of it gave a good flavor to the story of an introvert detective who lives alone, reads a lot and yearns for the Singapore of old.
Couldn’t finish it, to predictable and boring.
This was a great read! It keeps you guessing til the end!
I really like Inspector Tay. He reminds me a lot of Harry Bosch (Michael Connelly’s LAPD detective series).
Both very smart, dedicated and honest.
Very good series. Look forward to many more books.
Boring.
Enjoy the characters and am waiting for the next book in the series to come out. will be reading it also
Well written–twists keeps you coming back
Inspector Tay Rocks….
Good read!
I enjoyed it even though it was predictable
Very good read. I felt like I had been overseas.
better than I had expected
I loved it because it is easy to read, the main characters are likeable and the prose is good, The setting made the story quite interesting because Singapore is not the usual settings of detective stories. I definitely would like to readt more of Jake Needham stories,
This was a mystery that kept me in suspense until the end. I hated to put it down
There was a little too much introspection afforded the main character. Some loose ends left dangling.
Tedious
