The law won
My only complaint about this book was it was over too soon! I mean, I knew it would be with just forty-one pages, but I just fell in love with the characters and the story and wanted to read more and more of it. And the storyline was amazing! I love that second chance at love and the alpha wolf who finally gets what he needs. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series! There are so many wolves already who I can’t wait to see get their HEAs.
Merrick is both the town sheriff and the pack Alpha. Things aren’t going so well for him. His pack is short on female shifters and they’re not allowed to mate with humans. When the girl he always wanted comes back to town he has a tough decision to make. Sierra ends up caught in the middle of a world she knew nothing about and has to sort out her own priorities. I would have liked more engagement with the characters, but this does set up an interesting series and I will read the next one. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
Merrick is a new alpha whose pack is made up of entirely males. Sierra is human and just moved back into town. Will the alpha take his mate regardless of pack law? This is a short PNR that packs a punch. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline.

A quick fun read about humans and wolf shifters. I’d love to know where these characters go from here, maybe in the next few books I’ll learn more about what happened to them. I really enjoyed reading this book.

A nice lunchtime paranormal romance read
Sierra, a chef, comes back to her hometown and is rescued by Merrick, sheriff of the town, when her car breaks down just outside of town. As the story progresses secrets come out, situations arise, and fighting for what is right may be harder than fighting the enemy. Piper Fox’s The Alpha’s Mate is a nice lunchtime paranormal romance read. It will be interesting to see where the series goes.
This book has been written by an a new author to me but boy, it does not disappoint! It had me hooked from the start and is a real page turner; no way this book was put down before it was finished. It has a fast paced and exciting (not just the steamy scenes) story line filled with wonderfully described, realistic characters. This book was really easy to immerse and lose yourself in. If you love a dominant alpha, this is definitely one for you. Cannot recommend highly enough. A must read book in my opinion.

Ever since Merrick Davis became Alpha of the Ironhaven wolves, he has had nothing but stress. Another pack is ready to jump in and attack at the first sign of weakness, and his best patrol wolf had run away with a human. Other packs are sympathetic that they need female wolves in their pack, but with it looking like a curse, no one will risk sending females to them when they may not be safe.
Merrick left the station to do his rounds and check on everyone. He found Sierra Vance, an old high school acquaintance, with a broken down car on the side of the road. When Merrick made a joke about the last time she was in the back of a police car, she refused to get in and let him drive her home. He slowly followed her with the car as she stomped down the road, urging her to stop being stubborn. She was too near the rival pack for safety. He smelled their wolves, tried again to get her in his car, but she ran – right toward the Bellemare pack! Eight wolves stood in front of her, and one russet-colored wolf was at her back. As one of the eight leapt toward her, the big one behind her grabbed him and took him down. He was either protecting her or saving her for himself! He fought off all of them until they limped away and then, right in front of her, she shifted back to human. Was she hallucinating? Merrick? Once more, he told her to get in his car or he would throw her over his shoulder!
Merrick explained the truth to her and took her to his home to protect her. She kissed him and they ended up in bed, despite his knowing he was close to breaking the rules. With an enormous amount of control, he didn’t bite and mark her. Then her cell phone rang. Her mother was in the hospital and he dropped her off as he answered a call. The Bellemares were in town and needed to be stopped. But when they were killed or driven away, his second-in-command, Dom, reprimanded him for being with a human. He demanded Merrick break it off now; the pack needed him. Could he do that? His wolf was going crazy just being away from her. Claiming her would break all the pack laws, but his wolf keeps howling MINE, while Merrick fights to hold back from making her his.
This was a well-written story that fully involves the reader as one crisis after another has to be dealt with. The characters are awesome, especially the snarky, feisty human who banters back and forth with the Alpha she has always crushed on. Grab your copy and see how the many challenges are met and dealt with as Merrick tries to protect his pack — and the woman he wants for his mate.
This is a quick and HOT shifter romance.
Standalone with no cliffhangers.
Ironhaven wolves are all about tradition, and it could be there downfall.
Merrick is the sherrif and Alpha, he is overwhelmed with everything especially the attraction he feels for Sierra because she’s human and it’s not allowed.
Sierra is just coming back to her small town and is sick and tired of bossy men thinking they know everything.
Can she take charge or will they both loss?

The Alpha’s Mate is a fun and sexy read you can’t put down once you start! You will gladly sacrifice a tad bit of sleep or a lunch break depending on what time you pick up this book because you will have to make it through up until the end, and go crazy looking for the next book in the series.
This was the first book I had read by Piper Fox, but thankfully it won’t be the last as I already have the next book. If you haven’t read The Alpha’s Mate, I strongly suggest you do so. You won’t be disappointed.
This was a good start to a new series! It had action and steam and good characters. It wasn’t exactly romantic though so I’m hoping we get more romance in the next one.

The return of the heroine brings not only hope but danger to a wolf pack. I voluntarily received this book for an honest review
A great plot and characters for a short story I volunteered to read an advance copy for an honest review.
Very quick read and pretty much gets straight to the action. Wish it was a longer story but it was a good book and now I want to read the next I’m the series.

Merrik seems to be an alpha struggling to find his true place, since he cannot fix the problems in his pack. I get the feeling that the “pack law” forbidding mating with humans is more of a thing across all packs, not just his. Obviously the characters have a little history. The characters could have been a little deeper, and the story could have been a little longer. There was so much potential here that I hope is fulfilled with future books.
3.5 Stars
The story line was good, the character work was great and the book had a fairly smooth flow to it. This was a quick, fun read and while I enjoyed the book, I had a hard time connecting to the characters.

This is a new to me author and I love the story and the characters. I could not put the book down once I started.

Would love to read this as a longer story, not under 40 pages. Had promise, little drama, 2 sex scenes and a damsel in distress. Merrick and Sierra were high school rivalries, him a hot shot, her goth, but they both secretly crushed on the other.
