Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just married off the last of her daughters and is looking forward to relaxing and perhaps traveling with her husband, Earle. The only thing left to contend with is her mother, the formidable Lenore Simmons Krackenberry. Lenore may be a lot of fun for other people, but is, for the most part, an overbearing presence for her daughter. Then one day, quite by accident, Sookie discovers a secret about her mother’s past that knocks her for a loop and suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her future.
Sookie begins a search for answers that takes her to California, the Midwest, and back in time, to the 1940s, when an irrepressible woman named Fritzi takes on the job of running her family’s filling station. Soon truck drivers are changing their routes to fill up at the All-Girl Filling Station. Then, Fritzi sees an opportunity for an even more groundbreaking adventure. As Sookie learns about the adventures of the girls at the All-Girl Filling Station, she finds herself with new inspiration for her own life.
Fabulous, fun-filled, spanning decades and generations, and centered on a little-known aspect of America’s twentieth-century story, The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion is another irresistible novel by the remarkable Fannie Flagg.
Praise for The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion
“A beautifully told tale, world-class humor, and characters who live forever in a grateful reader’s world. Fannie Flagg keeps getting better and better. The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion proves it.”—Pat Conroy
“If all the self-help books that promote ways to ‘find yourself’ were stacked in an enormous pile . . . none would approach the sweet wisdom with which Flagg infuses The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion.”—Richmond Times-Dispatch
“It’s Flagg’s pleasure to hit her characters with several happy endings, but the real happiness is that she’s given us another lovable—and quirky—novel.”—The Washington Post

Very good.
Classic Fannie Flagg!!!
FANNY FLAGG’S BOOKS ARE ALWAYS GREAT.
Fannie Flagg will make you smile!
I loved reading this book. I liked the WWII history references, the women’s role in the war and the characters.
Love all of her books
Only halfway through it, but it is an excellent story well told, the perfect combination of interesting and believable characters in an awkward set of circumstances. Told with subtle humor and grace.
The story begins as a somewhat typical Fannie Flagg Southern glimpse into interesting, unique characters, but takes a surprising turn into the historical fiction of WW II powerful, memorable women. Loved it!
Loved this book! The characters grab you and hang onto you long after the last page. Funny, witty and sentimental. A mini-history of world war II, through the eyes of three sisters who didn’t want to sit outside the action but flew into it, literally. Great reading!
Such a wonderful read about the unsung heroines and how you never really know your own self. I absolutely ADORE the characters and the history of this book.
Great WW2 nostalgia. good history lesson. Likeable characters.
What a wonderful book!!! Fannie Flagg writes such amazing characters in the most interesting circumstances. This story is filled with strong females; independent while retaining their femininity. Excellent read.
This is a wonderful novel. It is a great combination of history and story-telling. Fannie Flagg tells the story of families from two different time periods, creating real and funny characters. She intertwines their stories masterfully and presents a little-known history while also showing the growth of a middle-age woman. This is a great, fun novel.
great book
This book was very enjoyable to read. I learned something about women and WW ll that was quite different. I would recommend this to anyone.
I found the main character, Sookie, to be very funny in her naive, traditional, and thoughtful way. She is often wrong, but she keeps on trying. The most important characteristic of the novel for me is the thorough introduction to the earliest days of aviation for women. Their true story is one filled with joy and difficulties, and it’s one that we all need to know.
The novel has Fannie Flagg traits that I enjoy, but for me this one rises above her others in its significant tale.
I’ve become a Fannie Flagg fan! Her stories are so entertaining. Good clean reading, I’m not a prude but it’s refreshing!
Really fun without being totally frivolous. Good story well told
I especially liked the fact that the story was history-based. It’s a story that is not commonly known about American women that made a difference during the war.
Quirky, entertaining read wirh one part of the book set during WWII and the other in more modern times
