Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just married off the last of her daughters and is looking forward to relaxing and perhaps traveling with her husband, Earle. The only thing left to contend with is her mother, the formidable Lenore Simmons Krackenberry. Lenore may be a lot of fun for other people, but is, for the most part, an overbearing presence for her daughter. Then one day, quite by accident, Sookie discovers a secret about her mother’s past that knocks her for a loop and suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her future.
Sookie begins a search for answers that takes her to California, the Midwest, and back in time, to the 1940s, when an irrepressible woman named Fritzi takes on the job of running her family’s filling station. Soon truck drivers are changing their routes to fill up at the All-Girl Filling Station. Then, Fritzi sees an opportunity for an even more groundbreaking adventure. As Sookie learns about the adventures of the girls at the All-Girl Filling Station, she finds herself with new inspiration for her own life.
Fabulous, fun-filled, spanning decades and generations, and centered on a little-known aspect of America’s twentieth-century story, The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion is another irresistible novel by the remarkable Fannie Flagg.
Praise for The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion
“A beautifully told tale, world-class humor, and characters who live forever in a grateful reader’s world. Fannie Flagg keeps getting better and better. The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion proves it.”—Pat Conroy
“If all the self-help books that promote ways to ‘find yourself’ were stacked in an enormous pile . . . none would approach the sweet wisdom with which Flagg infuses The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion.”—Richmond Times-Dispatch
“It’s Flagg’s pleasure to hit her characters with several happy endings, but the real happiness is that she’s given us another lovable—and quirky—novel.”—The Washington Post

Fabulous! Any book by MS. Flagg is a winner!
Fannie Flagg at her finest. I gained a whole new insight into the WASP program during WWII.
Another wonderful book by Fannie Flagg. She has such a talent for bringing her characters to life. I hate when the stories are finished. I also learned so much about the WASP, a group of women fliers during WW II.
I wanted a fun, relaxing read and this was the perfect choice.
The characters were so interesting I couldn’t put down the book and read until 4:45 AM that day. Thankfully I’m retired.
It was a heart warming, comfortable read. Just what I wanted during the sad and lonely pandemic
I love Fannie Flagg! Down to earth and warm hearted writing, totally a “feel good” read!
A feel good book you’ll want to read again down the road.
I love all Fannie Flagg’s books. Wonderful characters and so easy to read.
This is a VERY FUN read, Not great literature but a wonderful story that’s a quick read.
Sarah Jane “Sookie” Poole discovers at the age of 59 that, instead of being descended from a grand old Southern family, she is an adopted Polish American whose family of origin ran an ALL-GIRL Filing Station in Wisconsin. The book moves back and forth between Sookie’s journey of discovery and acceptance and the tale of her birth family, including its fascinating connection to women pilots who served during World War II. Plus, you will get to meet Sookie’s adopted mother, a strong-willed, self-obsessed powerhouse who rules both Sookie and the town they both live in.
Like all Fannie Flagg books, the writing is rich with Flagg’s dry humor as she weaves together this totally believable story that vividly brings to life the lives of women pilots during the war and the shameful way this country pushed them far from the limelight when their work was finished.
When you need a lift with a bit of humor and a story with southern charm and unique twists, pick up Fannie Flagg.
I loved this book based in contemporary southern Alabama and historical WW2. The history of the WASPs was charming and very interesting. Flagg created two lovable heroines in Sookie and Fritizi. Well done! Highly recommend.
Fannie Flagg creates characters you can’t help but fall in love with, but her best talent is weaving the past into the present by way of strong, badass women. Taking a dip back in time to WWII, Flagg shines a light on trailblazing women who kept a lot more than the home fires burning in this fun novel.
Good book with history I didn’t know about!
Really enjoyed learning how this family stayed together and how each of the girls took a role at home and for the war effort. Learned about how jobs and the status of women changed as the war progressed. All told in Fannie Flagg style, with lots of descriptions and interweaving story lines. Makes for a good combination; you’ll want to keep reading until you discover The End– and then you’ll wish there was more–so you can add your own ending. In any ending you choose, it’s obvious the characters lived happily ever after!
Fanny Flagg does a great job of small town life and relationships. This one has a little history thrown in for good measure. A delightful read.
Love her writing. So funny and detailed and sweet.
Fannie Flagg writes about life in the South and relationships between strong women better than anyone. Once you’ve read one of her books, you want to read more. One of my top five all time favorite authors.
Any book by Fannie Flagg is worth your time
Fanny Flagg hits it again. Good read.
