Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just married off the last of her daughters and is looking forward to relaxing and perhaps traveling with her husband, Earle. The only thing left to contend with is her mother, the formidable Lenore Simmons Krackenberry. Lenore may be a lot of fun for other people, but is, for the most part, an overbearing presence for her daughter. Then one day, quite by accident, Sookie discovers a secret about her mother’s past that knocks her for a loop and suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her future.
Sookie begins a search for answers that takes her to California, the Midwest, and back in time, to the 1940s, when an irrepressible woman named Fritzi takes on the job of running her family’s filling station. Soon truck drivers are changing their routes to fill up at the All-Girl Filling Station. Then, Fritzi sees an opportunity for an even more groundbreaking adventure. As Sookie learns about the adventures of the girls at the All-Girl Filling Station, she finds herself with new inspiration for her own life.
Fabulous, fun-filled, spanning decades and generations, and centered on a little-known aspect of America’s twentieth-century story, The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion is another irresistible novel by the remarkable Fannie Flagg.
Praise for The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion
“A beautifully told tale, world-class humor, and characters who live forever in a grateful reader’s world. Fannie Flagg keeps getting better and better. The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion proves it.”—Pat Conroy
“If all the self-help books that promote ways to ‘find yourself’ were stacked in an enormous pile . . . none would approach the sweet wisdom with which Flagg infuses The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion.”—Richmond Times-Dispatch
“It’s Flagg’s pleasure to hit her characters with several happy endings, but the real happiness is that she’s given us another lovable—and quirky—novel.”—The Washington Post

I loved it.
Great read
I love everything Fanny Flagg writes.
I liked the historical perspective about the women pilots from WWll, who were largely ignored until the 70’s. Easy reading.
A fun romp watching the heroine find and accept herself and her life choices. I learned things about WW ll I ever knew and was proud to read about women stepping up to deal with all kinds obstacles. A very enjoyable read.
Really enjoyed the characters. Highlighted a great group of women who weren’t given the credit and honor they deserved. I think it would make a great movie with the right cast- perhaps another memorable one like “Fried Green Tomatoes.”
I’m a Fanny Flagg fan. I like everything I’ve read that she’s written so it’s no surprise that I enjoyed this one.
I am a huge Fannie Flagg fan and this book did not disappoint! She has a delightful way with dialogue that makes characters seem like people you’ve always known! Great book!
Fannie Flag does not disappoint the reader with this book – original characters and story line.
Love Fanny Flagg
It was so good I didn’t want it to end.
I enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down,
Amazing slice of little known history served up with admirable characters.
Fanny Flagg is one of my favorite authors.
I think some of Fanny Flagg’s other books are better, but it was an easy escape read
Loved it. Reminded me why I love Fanny Flag
Best Fannie Flagg book that I have read.
I love Fannie Flagg’s books. I had not read this one and I was not disappointed. I liked it as much as Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe. As usual, the characters were wonderful. It was full of brilliant dialog and was so funny in places. I laughed out loud more than once. I love the way Fannie always has a back-story. In this case the main character, Sookie Poole, a Southern lady from Alabama, finds a long buried family secret that takes her on a journey to find her roots. It goes back to pre-World War 2 and the family she never knew existed. Another set of wonderful characters led by the flamboyant Fritzie are found in the little town of Pulaski WI. Fritzie and her sisters were the first female pilots during World War 2 known as WASPS. Although never formally accepted into the Army Air Corps, these women flew missions so the male pilots could go into combat. It is a fascinating true story and one that many people never heard. The ending combines both stories. I recommend this book. You won’t be able to put it down.
This was a quick read or maybe I just galloped thru it because it was so much fun. The sisters led incredible and interesting lives and we learn a bit more history of women taking a msn’s job while he was off fighting a war.
Loved the characters and really enjoyed learning about the women flyers!
