“Nothing in my life had prepared me for extraterrestrial motorcycle clubs.”Frankie: I thought alien abductions only happened in movies. But here I am on a strange planet with green soil and a gang of muscled, wicked-horned aliens on hover bikes. All I want to do is go back to Earth, but the alpha male in charge has decided I belong to him. Now I’m on the back of his bike speeding to an unknown … speeding to an unknown destination and super freaked out about liking his biceps and serious scowl. Good thing I have some banked personal days, because this might take awhile…
Daz: The job is supposed to be easy. All I have to do is deliver a spaceship of living cargo to the vile Uldani and they’ll release my brother. If I fail, they’ll take it out on him. Except the cargo is something I’ve never seen before–human females. The one called Frankie is beautiful and soft, and I’ve already spilled blood for her. Now how am I going to save my brother? Because this human female is mine.
The Alien’s Ransom is a full-length Sci-Fi romance novel featuring a snarky heroine who tries to find the humor in everything, even when kidnapped by aliens, and a possessive hero with lots of hidden weapons. Big ones.

The first story in an intriguing series mixing aliens and motorcycle clubs.
Did you want to read a book about an alien motorcycle club (or the alien equivalent to a motorcycle club). Here’s the series for you.
I read the whole series and loved them all!
This story has drama, adventure and sexy scenes. Frankie and other human women are abducted by aliens and are to be given to other aliens for experiments by others to create a warrior race. They are taken by Daz and his men, who are to be given for experiments so he can get his brother back who is being held by these evil alien scientists. I enjoyed each of the primary and secondary characters and these warriors are quite entertaining! This is a great love story of Daz and his “Fra-kee” I am voluntary leaving my review of this crazy good ARC.
One of the best alien romance books I’ve ever read. The world and characters Ella Maven built are remarkable and will have you begging for more.
“If this is not love, then we are what love wishes it could be.
The Alien’s Ransom is a fast-paced and imaginative sci-fi romance. The world building opens up a ton of possibilities for more storytelling. This read was a lot of fun and good on audio too.
Frankie wakes up in a strange place surrounded by aliens and other scared women just like her. They’ve been kidnapped and taken to an entirely different planet. Massive blue aliens on flying bikes end up coming to their rescue. Frankie is saved by Daz, a Drixonian. He introduces her to his world and to love. Meanwhile, Frankie, Daz, and the Drixonian Warriors must protect the women from the Uldani’s malevolant intentions and work to free his imprisoned brother.
I really liked how the Drixonians honor women. In their society, women are revered and protected. I love stories about fated mates, so this one was just what I needed to get my fix. I can’t wait to continue on with this series.
An interesting take on an alien abduction
Sexy motorcycle club warrior aliens? Yes please! This book had a hot alien, steam, interesting storyline and great characters. It was just the kind of story I was looking for! I will keep reading and look forward to Sax’s story.
I just got done reading a sci-fi alien romance and I needed a new fix until the next book came out and I stumbled upon this new author. Wowza. I’m in love. There are some similarities but very minuscule. I will say one thing. This author had me laughing at a new word I learned “subco..k lol. All I will say. Will leave it at that lol. Also earth women will jump anything as long as it will service them in the right places haha… I must put thought into this as a man would I be any different. Like al bundy said a woman with 3 boobs… 2 in the front and one on the back for dancing lol. But I absolutely loved the novella with Anna and Tark (sign up for the newsletter to get that one for free) and book one. I read both back to back. I’m really looking forward to Hap’s book. I think he’ll match up with Tabby. We’ll see! But this whole series is going to be amazing!
First book in the amazing series!! Alien Romance at its best!
One of my favorite authors in the sci-fi romance genre. You have to check out her Drixonians!
As good the introduction to these new series was as good and better was the first book. I like everything, believable characters and a solid development, big good alphas and big evil guys, an incredible setup (she is all) and a fantastic new world and best of all capable strong and sassy heroine and friends. Best of all is the interaction and self talk between Fra-kee and Daz – real gems hidden in the blue!
The composition of adventure, action and ‘amor’ is quite right, so all is interesting and captivating and entertaining and intriguing and delicious – can’t wait for book 2 – Sax and Val
I have to say that I’m not a big sci-fi romance reader. The few books I have read, I’ve enjoyed, but it’s just not my go-to genre. But there are certain authors that if they wrote a glossary of car parts in Klingon, I’d Rosetta Stone-it up because if they wrote it, I’m reading it. Megan Erickson is one of those authors for me. Doesn’t matter if she’s writing as Ella Maven. I trust her to write a fantastic story. And The Alien’s Ransom is Exhibit A why. I bought the book this Wednesday and finished it late that night–or early the next morning. Fantastic world-building, characters you want to befriend and bone–yeah, I said it!–a captivating story line–get it? Cause the heroine was abducted–sizzling passion and a swoony romance! Okay, fine, I’m gushing. Sue me.
Frankie wakes up on an alien ship, abducted from Earth. Soon, she finds out she and five other women are cargo for beings that belong in a Netflix series, not her life. Drixonian warrior Dazeem, or Daz, agreed to pick up a shipment for his enemies in order to trade it for his brother, who has been kidnapped and held ransom by said enemy. But all bets are off when he sees that the shipment is a group of human woman. Women are sacred to his race, and only a male without honor would go through with this. But there’s another reason he can’t do it. The woman who, with one meeting of gazes, has touched his soul. Though he doesn’t know her, has never even seen a human before, he would kill for her–literally. And so begins this epic journey into an unknown future that holds dangerous enemies, evil plots, flesh-eating creatures, world-tilting discoveries, fated mates, wondrous hope, and a love that crosses universes. Again, literally. Frankie was a simply amazing heroine. She was resilient, strong, funny, smart, and most of all, not annoying. Just sayin’. She didn’t buckle; though she hadn’t thought of herself as particularly brave on Earth, she proves herself fierce! And I loved that about her. Daz was drool-worthy from the very beginning. And not just cause he’s pierced, has weapons popping out of him, owns a beautifully long tongue and a tail. As leader of his clan, he’s everything a warrior should be. Protective, honorable, the first one into battle, brilliant and self-sacrificing. And with Frankie, he’s endearingly vulnerable. He isn’t all alpha-asshole with her either. He respects her, and even when they initially can’t understand each other, is careful with her, listens to her and is patient. And the chemistry between them? Out. Of. This. World. See what I did there? The passion and sex? I swear, I have asthma and I was craving a cigarette…
When I first read the description of The Alien’s Ransom, I thought, “Cool! Big, blue alien warriors and an extraterrestrial motorcycle gang. I’m in!” But it ended up being so much more than that. There was a message about the reverence of women in it that was so empowering to read. This book worshipped the strength of women. Ella Maven weaves a clinging-to-the-edge-of-your-seat exciting story of a strange but thrilling world, new races and old, but still burning hot feuds. Throw in fated mates, laugh-out-loud funny moments, utterly sweet interludes and searing hot passion, and you have a book that you just can’t put down until it’s over. And now I’m impatiently waiting for March and the next book. Tick-tock. Tick-tock.
Wow! Fantastic story for a first-time sci-fi romance by this author! If you’re a fan of Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians then I think you will love Maven’s Drixonians as much or more! I loved how fierce Daz was along with how caring and wonderful he was with Frankie. She’s no shrinking violet and Frankie rises to the occasion while learning a new world. Add in the group of rescued females from earth and Daz’s motley males and you get a great recipe for an amazing sci-fi series. Can’t wait to read more! 5 stars
