Alien Surrogate by Amelia Wilson is a first in a new series. I like the storyline, it moved along and the characters were likeable. I didnt much care for the ending, this just felt like something was missing.
This was short and steamy. I was hoping there would be some romance as well. I liked the concept but didn’t like the ending. I received this audiobook by my request in exchange for an honest review from getfreeaudiobooks.com.
For adult readers.
I think this is a good start to a new series. It’s a short, easy read. This book gives us a little bit to look forward to (something wrong with the Klaskian’s planet). I was a little upset with the ending, but I suppose, depending on how you look at it, it could be seen as an HEA, at least for the . I have many questions, but I am hoping to get them answered as the series goes on. So for now, on to book 2!
Dang, did I ever find this story devastating. It actually haunted me afterwords, and it took me a while to realize why (It’s essentially an adoption story. My mother was 17 when I was born so she had to give me up for adoption. It was actual hell for her, and even though we’ve reunited, she still has PTSD over it, and I didn’t come away unscathed either.)
Janelle’s life is so dire, she agrees to fly to a strange planet, have sex with two aliens, have a baby for them to help ensure their population remains steady, and then leave. Janelle’s life up to this point has been nothing but struggle and lonliness. Having been neglected all of her life, she’s never been loved or taken care of.
When she meets her mates, they are attentive to her every need and desire, going out of their way to make her feel welcomed, adored, relaxed, and valued. The writing of these two characters in this scene conveys such a gentleness it’s almost disarming. The reader can feel their soothing nature and caring. When they begin to play music for Janelle on their instruments, I could almost feel myself dozing off into a magical dreamworld along with her.
As time goes on, her feelings towards them become love, and everything they show to her seems to suggest that they love her in return. She never planned on forming emotional attachments to either, and she certainly didn’t expect to begin to love the child-to-be that she conceives, but she’s head over heels for the whole thing.
But according to law, she has to return to earth as soon as she delivers the child(ren). This is where things become very emotionally twisted. First of all, it’s absurd that any planet would think it would be a good idea to send the mother away to never she her child again. Some people would be able to do that, but most are going to form an emotional attachment and would need the opportunity to at least visit the child. And my heart dropped when she asks Andar if he plans on mating with another woman someday, and he responds that though he will cherish their time together above all else, he could make no promises that he wouldn’t Wow, there’s a knife twisted in the gut! It’s very upsetting that they send her off with smiles… She’s leaving her family behind and they don’t even walk her to the spaceship. They don’t express anguish and they don’t even think about making an appeal to let her stay with them..
It’s written with the optimistic view that Janelle has now experienced love and can go out into the world a new person, and eventually discover another love, while Andar and Maslar can heal from the trauma of losing loved ones during their planet’s relocation. But despite this, it was really emotionally devastating. The love the three felt for one another felt so strong, and so real and natural during the course of the story, that the males’ behavior in this scene makes all of that seem insincere.
Overall, it made me laugh, it made me joyful, it made me cry, it made me angry, and it keeps popping up in my mind. And that last characteristic is a rare gem to be found in a story.
Several years ago, the Klaskians (an advanced alien race) come into Earth’s solar system trying to save their dying planet. The long travel from their own system has a devastating outcome on their females and their young; few surviving the travels. Once they make themselves known to Earth’s leaders, a peace treaty is formed and they willingly share their advanced technology and help heal the earth with their ability to grow new life on the plant. After a shocking encounter with a human female and a Klaskian male, a child is born. As soon as the Klaskians realize they are compatible with the females on Earth, the Surrogacy Program is created.
Janelle is a high school dropout with a tragic past. She lives in tiny, rundown apartment (currently several months behind in rent) and has recently lost her job and is desperate for money. Reluctantly convinced by a friend, she joins the Surrogacy Program where she will be taken to the alien planet, paired with a male to conceive a child then monetarily compensated and returned to Earth. Simple, right? That is what she thought until she arrives on the planet to be paired with not one, but two incredible male specimens; who were best friends – Andar and Maslar.
Andar, who lost a mother and sister in their planet’s move, has never been mated or had a child but is excited and anxious to be chosen for the pairing with a human female and welcomes the fact that his best friend, Maslar will be paired with them as well. Maslar, who lost his mate and young in the travels to this new solar system, is excited at the possibility of having another child to help him heal from his devastating loss. The three of them form a wonderful bond full of acceptance, healing and love as they fulfill the terms of the pact.
