Janice White loved Christmas, and taking a holiday trip to Finland was a dream come true. With her team in tow, including the jerk who always challenged her every decision, she set out to find Christmas legends for her doctorate dissertation. What she found was love at first sight.Oskar Halfardsson was a Reilendeer, an alien living below Luosto Fell in a village his kind built away from the … built away from the prying eyes of humans. When the group of Americans showed up in a nearby village, Oskar set out to spread joy and cheer. Legend has it that Reilendeer were known for such jovial traditions which fed their spirits.
With one look at Janice, Oskar knew without a doubt that he’d met his mate.
All he had to do was convince her that some legends are real and need protected, and that he was the protector for her.
The authors of Starr Huntress were given a challenge: give readers a reindeer shifter in your holiday story. We all agreed to call our shifters “reilendeer” and decided they bring good cheer to the world around them… and then we went crazy! You might notice differences about the world and abilities of the reilendeer from story to story, and that’s because each author has put her own spin on the challenge.
Now it’s time to grab your eggnog, cuddle up by the fire, and enjoy these steamy alien shifters.

Wonderful holiday love story. They are alien reliendeer who feed off the happiness of others. They are happy people who want to help others. When she shows up to do research for her dissertation he knows she is his mate. Now how does he tell her what he is and get her to not broadcast it to others? Very heartwarming and so enjoyable of a read. I highly recommend it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Janice White, researching Christmas legends for her doctorate dissertation, had been travelling since 5 a.m. and was exhausted as she listened to the flight attendant’s instructions. She and her group were headed to a remote village in Lapland, Finland, to research the local folklore on Christmas and Santa Claus, at least another hour of flight. The cabins they drove to after they landed were beautiful and the fire kept the rooms comfortably warm.
Oskar Halfardsson was delighted to hear that Americans were coming to spend some time visiting here in Joulupukki for the next six weeks. In order for his species to survive, they needed to feed on emotions of happiness and good cheer, and Americans were always good recipients of the feelings his people returned to them. Oskar was a Reilendeer, an alien living below Luosto Fell in a village his kind built to be out of sight of humans, a city in underground caverns. Living for hundreds of years, he has the folklore and the stories Janice needs to complete her dissertation. And when Oskar saw Janice, he knew without a doubt that he’d met his mate. Will she fall in love with him? Will she stay behind to make a life with him?
This was a fun story with a good story line and a nice variety of characters (even the annoying Mike). Grab your copy and enjoy a clever story with a Christmas theme.
An out of this world Christmas love story that can rival Hallmark channel. Strangely, there was nothing about Christmas trees or Christmas decorations. Then again, with so much magic in the air, who would have looked at the decorations anyway.

Ahhhh a cute short Christmas story.
Janice White is going to Joulupukki village for a Finnish Christmas researching the legends of Santa Claus for my dissertation for my doctorate degree. The first day was wonderful especially since she had a storyteller telling her the folklore.
Oskar Halfardsson is from the Alien Race of Reilendeer who have carved out there little city in underground caverns. They are human food but they mainly feed on the happiness of others. Oskar thought were that they should be with human, since there species were down to around two hundred. Many of there women had died, while others were shot like his brothers while in their shifter form of a reindeer. As a group of college students came to study Oskar realizes one was his mate..
This review is my own opinion, this author is one that I love to read her books. Definitely a Must Read!
Reindeer shifters from another planet! Janice and a few colleagues go to Finland to study the myths and folklore about Christmas. She is especially interested in the flying reindeer. The first person she meets is Oskar. She has an immediate attraction to him and he seems to have one for her also. But surprises are in store for Janice. He might just be the specific legend she is looking for. Does she keep his secret or tell the world and make her dad proud of her? Oskar believes that Janice, who is from Indiana is made. There are a lot of magical things that happen in the story. She is there in Finland to research the mystical facts and myths on reindeer in relation to Christmas. There’s a lot of information that is given in the story. Oscar is the one who has the information. He has the folktales and the information needed for her to do her dissertation. But one of her colleagues who is trying to be the “”villain “is trying to show off. Is a nice light story with HEA and no cliffhangers. There are some characters that are built and information that is provided that is quite interesting. You will like it.

Fairly entertaining and comical alien romance. I like Oskar, he is kind, patient and determined. I like Janice too, she’s content. I love the pace, they are instantly attracted but no rush, this mating is of the forever kind. Looking forward to more on the reindeer gang finding their mates. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
A wonderful, enjoyable Christmas romance with a interesting view of the reindeer’s that pull Santa’s sleigh. The plot is well-written & interesting with characters that are fairly well-developed with realistic emotions & longings.
There is: a young woman (Janice) who is absolutely crazy about Christmas goes to Finland to do some research & comes into contact with a good-looking young man & veterinarian (Oskar) who unknown to her is a alien reilendeer & her mate, her beautiful Persian cat (Smoochy), a rather aggravating man (Mike), drama, humor, some twists, strange attractions, conversations, folklore stories, warnings, advice, verbal conflict, aggression, insults, complications, injuries, discovery, surprises, love, contentment, passion, romance & wonderful epilogue with a tantalizing preview of a forthcoming book.
Three and a half stars.
This is an interesting take on reindeer flying Santa’s sleigh. Janice and her associates travel to Finland in the middle of winter to do research on the local folklore surrounding Christmas. Oskar is the hot Finnish resident who knows all the stories. There are some characters who didn’t really add much to the story and others that I thought should have had more time. The HEA is kinda sweet and is worth the time spent reading.
