Emily wakes up from being abducted with one of the aliens tasting her arm. Not a good sign. Fortunately, she is rescued by Draix, the Prince of Drihla. They begin to fall in love but war breaks out. Emily doesn’t tell him she is pregnant before he leaves, and it’s five years before she sees him again.
This is a complicated story of Drihla society’s ways and how the couple overcomes the obstacles. As I said in the title, it’s good but not one of Miranda’s best.
Emily is working in space when she is abducted and imprisoned . But before her captors can do much to her she is saved by Prince Draix. He cannot take her home to Earth because they are so far away. Over time they fall in love but then he is called away to war. At the same time, Emily realizes she is pregnant. She waits for word of him but gives up and goes about creating a life for her and her son. Five years later Draix is back from a successful war. He wonders where she is while she tries to hide the fact they have a son. They have to figure out what they want to do and how to get past both of their changing feelings.

Emily Madison was on her 4th exploration in space, investigating plants and wildlife. She was on the planet and examining a plant with teeth when Marcus asked her to come back to the ship. He was seeing something odd. As the two of them looked at the monitor and realized their communication line was being jammed, they scrambled to escape. But a red ray struck Marcus in the head and he melted in a puddle of blood on the floor. A green light came next, struck her head, and everything went black.
Emily woke in a dark room on a cold, metal slab. She was unable to move. Creatures that looked somewhat like frogs licked her, and it burned her skin like acid. Then suddenly she heard a strange sound and the head of one of the creatures rolled on the floor. A huge blue alien stood there and identified himself as Draix, Prince of the Drihlai. Then she passed out again.
Emily is asked to help Draix work on their translators and, as they get to know each other, they begin to fall in love and started a relationship they kept hidden. When he is called to battle against the Chaluts, because he is their strongest and best warrior, he leaves her to fight in the war.
When Draix finally returns, he is about to be crowned King and must marry a Chalut Princess in a political alliance for the good of their worlds. But that is not who he wants to marry. And Emily has a secret that may cause a major disruption. Is there a HEA for them? Or will they lose each other to Draix’s royal obligations?
I liked this book. Although a five year war with only a few casualties seemed unrealistic, the romance between the two main characters fit the bill. I enjoyed reading how they came back together after their separation (due to the war). These were characters with which I could empathize. Many times in life we struggle with what we would prefer but are held back by duty and honor and the idea that what we most want might not be what is best for someone we love.

Great second chance story, it has a good storyline. The interaction and chemistry between the characters is wonderful, . I can’t wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Love and Politics…
Even in space true love and politics don’t mix. The chemistry between Emily and Draix was undeniable as was their love. I really wasn’t sure how they were going to get their HEA but had faith that they would…..Ms. Martin didn’t disappoint.

An enjoyable read from start to finish, it was sweet and sexy with a whole lot of heat. I loved the chemistry between Prince Draix and Emily. Their relationship was easy to follow and fun and had me cheering for their HEA.
Emily was saved from the aliens that had captured her by Prince Draix they started a secret relationship until he was called off to war. Years later at his return he must except the crown and a wife but his heart still belongs to Emily. Even having read a few of her novels and knowing that she write HEA endings I could not see how Draix could get out of his responsibilities that come with his royal role and be able to claim the only woman he has ever loved. But happily I can tell you that by surprising means love won the day. I was given this as an arc in exchange for an honest review.
A well-written, fast-paced page-turner with an intriguing storyline and great characters. Will definitely check out other books from this author.
